Convert your low impedance signal to high impedance. Ideal for plugging any 3-pin XLR mic cable into sound gear with 1/4" high Z inputs. Female XLR to 1/4" male. Review: great product and value - I compared this side by side to the SHure brand's version. They're similar enough, but this one sounded better. The test was simple- plug dynamic mic into instrument amp and see if we can hear a difference between the two adapters. Yes we can. The PE one sounded fuller, the Shure one sounded thinner. They both work great and you might like one vs the other. I prefer this one in sound. Another reason I prefer this is that the ends come straight out, so if for some reason it needs to come apart, you can open it without twisting an end. This likely means it will be more long lasting since the wires inside aren't balled up from screwing the thing together when it was first made. I'll add that I trust PE for many things, and have used several Dayton products quite happily over the years. Works for me in my home studio. I use it to connect an xlr microphone to guitar amplifier.

Defective
After using this product for a while, there now appears to be a short or lose connection, that causes considerable hum and crackle. When I swap it out with a different transformer, the noise disappears.

Received the order much quicker than I expected.It came just in time for my show.The best part was that it was half the price of the store down the street.

It does not make the mic loud enough. And this mic works great on a X L R input.
