Great for a computer with a low wattage, power supply
I purchased the GPU card because the new AI photo editing software REQUIRE a GPU, which my old editing software did not. BUT, my Dell has a LOW wattage power supply, and it is difficult to upgrade the power supply. So I needed a graphics processor card that did NOT need additional power beyond the PCIe buss power. This card solved the problem. It was worrying because ALL the descriptions on the MSI and various other sites lead me to believe that this card needed the additional power. When it arrived, it did NOT have the additional power connector. It would run just with just the buss power. I bought the GDRR6 card, but as it turned out, for MY purposes of photo editing (individual pictures), NOT gaming (continuous video), I probably could have used the cheaper GDRR5 card and saved some money, and not noticed any performance difference. Because I am using it for photo editing, I am not using the GPU hard, and it has been working just fine.

upgraded an AMD Ryzen 5 APU
Just in case anyone else is planning the same thing: I have been running a Ryzen 5 2400 APU, with no graphics card. It did pretty well and I could play most games on moderate settings. I chose the 1650 video card because it has pretty low power consumption and was not too expensive. I bought a refurbished one. It said no additional power cable was required, but that's not the case. It has a six-pin socket like many PCI-E cards do. It installed and booted with no trouble. It took about 10 minutes for my PC to automatically find, download, and install the new driver (I did nothing). The APU automatically saw and used the new card. Aaand....Whammo! Every game I have now runs at 60+ fps. What a difference! I never knew it, but I was running under 30 fps on many games. My battery backup says the power load is the same as before. It could be that it takes the same amount of power as the Ryzen GPU, which is no longer used. It might draw slightly more at max load, but in any case you're looking at roughly the same power consumption as with Vega 11 integrated graphics. It's beautiful. Highly recommended for gamers not wanting to spend a fortune on a rig. Note: The refurbished ones do not even come with an anchoring screw. Most of us have a spare one, but in case you don't, you'll want one or two.

Good Graphics Card for Casual Gaming, but.
The card runs great, I upgraded from a 760, to a 1650, This graphics card is good for a temporary upgrade, but for long time use, not so good.

Very good card and package
The graphics card arrived in perfect condition, it is new and its packaging is very resistant and well protected. From the first moment it worked perfectly. Good level of fps in performance tests and low energy consumption, it does not need to be connected directly to the power source. I'm not going to use it for gaming, only for video editing in Adobe premiere, the results in the renders were more than acceptable. Excellent value for money (U$S155 at the time of purchase), I recommend.

(No longer a) good low budget GPU
-- Edit 6-29-25 -- This GPU is no longer a good buy in 2025; it's $100 more now than when I originally got it and just isn't worth the performance you will get out of it. You can find better cards at this price point. -- Original Review -- I got this card because I needed a low power GPU for some light/medium gaming. It works well for that and you can expect the performance about that of a GTX 970 but without the crazy power draw of a 970. It does not require a PCIe power connector from the PSU and draws power directly from the PCIe slot which is great! It's paired with a Ryzen 1600AF at the moment and while it's probably not the best match for the CPU I'm pretty happy with how the performance turned out. Don't expect amazing performance out of it but it's also not bad either. As an example, I was able to get No Man's Sky running on the "Enhanced" graphics preset at a pretty acceptable frame rate. Eyeballing it I would say it was around 30 - 50 FPS depending on what was going on. Not acceptable for some people I'm sure, but certainly not unplayable if it's all you had.

Great 1650 msi card in older computer!
Added the 1650 msi ventus OC 6d to an HP prodesk 400 Gen1 i7-4790 processor 3.6ghz and 16 gb ram with Legacy Bios, 300W PS. Son started wanted to play fortnite more on the computer and the on board graphics just weren't cutting it. 30fps at low settings and no shadows and still very jerky. Install: Was a little concerned based on articles about installing newer video cards with the old legacy bios instead of UEFI. But, I went on with it. Uninstalled previous cards drivers (old card but wasnt compatible with win10) Shut down, installed, powered on, booted right up. Windows Used a generic driver to power up. I went to verify I downloaded the right driver, and as I was doing that, my screen went blank and then back on with a great resolution. It Automatically installed and I didn't do anything. I did install the nvidia panel and updated the driver after. Son tried fortnite. View distance epic and all the rest on high settings 110 to 140 fps in a full action packed game. He said I could sell his Xbox.. :) Haven't messed with OC portion yet. Dvi output used Great video card. Installed 2 days ago.
