Outstanding saw. Terrible trigger. But I love it.
The Good * Powerful motor and excellent blade. Making long cuts through 1/2" plate steel and it felt like I was cutting plywood. Motor feels like it's going to last a long time. * Laser guide is surprisingly useful for checking alignment. * Chip collector works very great. Catches 80% of the chips, but it will fill up quickly. A 48" cut through 1/2" steel plate fills it. The plastic window seems to be holding up well despite the hot chips. Other brands have issues with this part melting, but the Fein is holding up. * Cuts true, and you can get very precise cuts. blade doesn't wander or warp from heat. Recommend using Boelube 70200-40-001 lubricant. Very noticeable difference when I don't use it. Especially on thicker metal. The Bad * The TRIGGER is the worst! First saw arrived with a defective switch and didn't work. The replacement saw works, but the trigger feels cheap. You must manipulate the safety button and switch carefully or risk breaking it. Hands down the worst trigger I've ever used on any power tool. * Base plate isn't the worst, but it's not great either. Feels a bit cheap and flimsy given the saw's size and weight. But at least the blade and plate are aligned for straight cuts. Overall, this is an EXCELLENT metal cutting saw that will last a long time. If Fein would improve the baseplate and use a better trigger this saw would be the GOAT.

BEYOND ALL EXPECTATIONS!! WOW!!
Purchased the Jancy Slugger off of Amazon relying on the good product reviews. I didn't really know what to expect as the only other cutting tool I have in my shop is a bandsaw and of course angle grinder cut off wheels. This saw is so spectacular that you'll seriously wonder how you got by without it. IT IS A GAME CHANGER!! First let me say that setup out of the box is very easy and simple. There's not too much to the saw, but do read the instructions as it gives you orientation guidelines for cutting metal. The blade it comes with is for cutting mild steel only. There are optional blades for cutting ferrous materials and stainless steel. Cold saws aren't great at cutting stainless so if that's your need I'd go back to a bandsaw. For everything else this is the saw! For all the complaints you read on amazon about various saws and their vice problems it's great to find a saw that has an excellent vice. I've had absolutely no problems with the vice on this saw and it's extremely strong. Your work is not going anywhere. The amount of safety and expertise that has gone into this saw is apparent out of the box. There are nearly a dozen different metal cutting saws on Amazon, many are cheaper but they are all inferior to this product. First let me say that you definitely need the 14" capacity as it comes in very handy when cutting deeper stock which is very likely during fabrication. Secondly I've found the blade length on this saw to be excellent. As long as you don't force it and let the blade cut through the steel gently then you'll get an enormous amount of use out of each blade. Be careful to orient the steel properly in the vice. You want to avoid cutting large flat surfaces whenever possible. Flat stock should be held upright. You will need to use hearing protection as it is loud, but no real louder than any other chop saw out there. This saw will cut anything you can fit under the guard. No problems cutting 1" Square or 2" Square or greater material. I just cut a bit then bring the saw a little out of the material to keep the blade cool when cutting super thick material. It can cut several times faster than a bandsaw which greatly reduces fabrication times. You can also cut literally any length off the material without deflection, cutting 1/16 or 1/32 off some material is no problem at all. And there is no heat in the blade nor heat in the material whatsoever. The cut is bright and mirror smooth with virtually no clean up. There's also no smoke or dust from the saw which is of incredible benefit. All the hot cut saws produce nasty dust and smoke from the wheel that is a known cancer causing carcinogen. With this saw there is none of that, only tiny little chips that are very easy to clean up and are too heavy to get airborne. One of the first heavy jobs I did with my saw was cut hinges for my shop doors. They are 5/16's thick plate steel that are 5" wide x 10" long. This is some hefty material. Did I mention I needed a dozen of them! The saw made short work of all these cuts and the blade is still razor sharp. Truly amazing. I'd be there literally all day to cut this material on my bandsaw and the Slugger did it in about 30 mins. You do still have to take time to align the cuts. ;-) Here in the picture you can see the stack of plates. If you add up that material it's 5" wide x 4" thick! Now that's one hefty brick of steel the Slugger cut through without issue. Blade still sharp as the day I got it. Buy the Slugger, you won't be disappointed. All the other cheaper saws are junk. The only con I found with the saw is that the hold down mechanism is antiquated. Basically there is a chain and a hook to hold the saw down when not in use. Why they couldn't just figure out a locking pin is beyond me. But I rarely lock the saw down unless you're going to move it or travel with it. The guards prevent you from contacting the blade. All in all I would give this saw a 10/10 for it's usefulness, it's precision cutting, it's small form factor, the depth of cut, and the longevity of the blade. The Slugger really knocks it out of the park. It really changed the way I fabricate and sped up my pace dramatically. UPDATE 3/23/18 I think I finally started to slightly dull the blade (though still has some use left in the blade) after six long months of cutting endless amounts of 5/8's blade, 1"-2" solid bar, rounds, angle iron, tubing and everything else that would fit under the guard. You can get blades for $80-$150 depending on the blade. Certainly worth the money when you can get hundreds of cuts out of it. Also much easier to change a rotary saw blade then changing blades on a horizontal or vertical bandsaw imo as guides always need to be readjusted on bandsaws as well as tracking and down feet, etc. Jancy Slugger is the future of metal cutting and now is the corner stone for my shop. My next purchase will be some sort of table to mount the Slugger too.

Incredibly well built. This is an heirloom grade saw
Someday, many years from now my sons son will use this saw. I am confidant he too will revel in it's ability to precisely and quickly cut metal. This saw is incredibly well built. It's cuts are super clean and very accurate. The metal is cool enough to touch immediately after the cut and I experience virtually no sparks. The vise is thick and stout. It clamps the metal really well. I really like the vice screw handle. The handle is like a handle on a regular vice where it can slide to give better leverage. Nice touch! The shavings catch is a lot bigger than I expected. It is the full length of the saw blade and catches the vast majority of the shavings. The shavings catch is held in place by a small easy to tighten wing nut. The hinge of the saw is super stout and well built. I am really impressed with the hinge design. It's the type of hinge an engineer would appreciate. The spring easily lifts the saw to full height. I've seen other reviews that give the chain latch system down scores. But in my opinion the chain latch does exactly what it is supposed to do, and that is to make it easier to carry the saw. Other than carrying the saw, this chain latch serves no purpose. For carrying the saw, it is well suited for the task. The blade guard mechanism is really cool. The double guide double action nature feels very strong and reliable. The guards snap to attention each and every-time without fail. It's fun to watch. There are two large heavy duty rubber pads under the front of the saw. None on the back of the saw. I mounted the saw on a large metal table and found the two rubber feet held the saw in place just fine. The handle fits my hand just fine. I find it easy to hit the safety switch before activating the saw. I like that it has a double action switch on the handle. No chance this saw will accidentally be triggered. Which is important. I've used DeWalt and Makita carbide metals saws, and can say with 100% confidence that this Fein metal cutting saw saw is better than any other saw I have ever used in every regard. I am extremely satisfied with the purchase. Highly recommended.

Truly a game changer
Great saw. It is exactly the right tool for the job of cutting mild steel. I'm transitioning from IT to starting a welding business after finishing school and I knew that I would need a quality saw for the shop. It was between the Evolution and the Slugger and the only reason I went with the Slugger was the more common 14" blades. I had a HF chop saw and the major problem with all abrasive saw blades is deflection at the end of the cut. I'm cutting a 4" piece of plate steel and the last 1"+ looks like a ski jump. Nothing was even square after being cut. I'm still in school and I'm making my own test plates (3/8 plate 4"x6") and I have to put either a 22.5 degree bevel or a 37 degree bevel and the Slugger takes a 12' piece of 4" 3/8" thick steel and gives me 12 test plates with a perfect bevel. The track torch at school it not reliable enough to use so I make my test plates at home to save time since I'm also working full time. No cleaning the face, no waiting on people, and little to no setup. I walk into school and start welding. Screw up a weld at school and you are back up and running again in 20-30 minuets or so, or pull out another plate that you made at home with your Slugger and start again. I have a a few things that I don't care for. The chain to hold the saw closed/down it a real PITA and I just can't believe this was the best idea that they could come up with. It's under the plastic and there is no good way to latch it. Poor design. I would prefer to have the safety button and the "On" button swapped places since holding the switch with my pinky and ring finger, and the safety with my middle and pointer finger doesn't work well after X amount of cuts. My grip(like most people) is stronger the closer to your thumb so this only makes sense to me. I've made hundreds of cuts with this and it's about due for a new blade but I could not see myself starting a business without having this in the shop or on a job site.

1st review of Jancy MCCS14 dry cut saw
I'll update this as I use it. I researched all the saws on the market, spent the last 2 1/2 months studying reviews and reading specs. even contacting all the top manufacturers. I've never used one, but I have 50 yrs. experience in a diverse farm shop, I've been using an abrasive saw, a horizontal band saw & plasma cutters, but felt this would be a good addition to our shop. I finally settled on the Jancy because I have a Jancy Slugger magnetic drill, it's probably the best piece of equipment in my shop, I've used it pretty hard for 15 years, it's very "high-quality"! When I received this saw today, my heart fell when I read on the box "Made in Taiwan- PRC". Although I fully expected it, I was silently hoping. I'm not trying to promote this saw, I just want to tell it like it is. The table & base is heavy cast aluminum, the vise & slide is cast iron, appears very well made. The vice uses a big allen head for the pivot and a spring loaded wing bolt w/handle for changing angles. Checked with T-square, the angles are very close to "perfect", it may need "tweeked" a hair for precise angles. Overall, the saw appears better than I was actually expecting, but the Chinese don't let you get "cocky", the hold-down chain hooks to a hook mounted behind the eye shield, when hooked & you lift the saw by the handle it bends the hook right into the Plexiglas shield, scratching it. My 11 yr. old granddaughter could design it better! The reason I didn't try it, I'm waiting on a Porter Cable 80 tooth stainless blade as most of the steel we cut is hard & thin. I'll rate it for now as 4 stars since I haven't used it & the face shield issue. As I use it in a few days, it could go up or down? Again, I haven't seen most of the other saws, but I have seen a few, so far, this saw is made considerable better than the 6 or 7 I have seen. It is the heaviest of all I believe, according to the specs. More to come. I'll add to this review, I've made several cuts on various steel stock, angle iron, sq. tubing, rectangular tubing, rod & shaft. The saw works fine, as expected. I believe most of the problems people have with dry cut saws is improper technique, starting the cut is critical, you must ease into it, it's where blade damage can occur, especially with thin single surface stock. Avoid cutting flat surfaces such as angle iron with the leg up, turn it over with both legs down, sq. tubing should be cut on edge with angle up, clamp it good & tight & it will work fine. Even a band saw or abrasive saw doesn't like flat surfaces, that's where you develop heat, a mortal enemy with these steel cutting blades! If you've used an abrasive saw cutting good sized angle iron, when it gets thru the vertical leg & starts cutting on the flat, sometimes it will stop cutting, you get much fewer sparks, that's when the blade & steel is heating up & tempering the steel you're cutting & the problem magnifies. The same applies to a band saw, if cutting wide single surface material in a band saw in the vertical, it can start vibrating, you can hear it, you should hold the material to take out this vibration, otherwise it's damaging the blade. With these type blades, I don't care how good they are, these scenarios are a death sentence to the blades longevity. Proper technique will make or break how much you like these saws! I'm going to leave my review at 4 stars due to the cosmetic issue of the carry chain & hook & eye shield. Otherwise I believe this is an exceptionally fine saw, I haven't seen the M K Morse saw, which is supposed to be very good, but what I see in this saw & what I saw in the videos, I believe I bought the right saw. Good Luck! Steve

worth buying
First off I NEVER write a product review but I felt compelled to let people know about this saw. I am a millwright by trade and I do a LOT of fabrication at home. I have been using a abrasive wheel chop saw to cut all of my steel, this as I am sure you know leaves the edges sometimes not perfectly straight and also with a large burr that needs to be removed for fitment before welding and also the steel is very hot to the touch. I started looking for a cold saw with lower rpm that would make a clean cut and be more accurate for fitment. After looking for quite a while and having a fairly limited budget It was a toss up between the FEIN 232-72905361120 that is only a few dollars more and this saw. I chose the other saw due to the fact that it had all perfect reviews even though there were only 5 or 6 of them and it was only 25 or so dollars more. After waiting a week and seeing that the saw had not shipped yet I sent a e-mail to see if there was a issue, I received a prompt reply that the saw would take 6 to 8 weeks to get to them from Germany so I cancelled my order for that saw and purchased this one. I could not be happier. This saw right out of the box cuts perfect 90 and 45 degree angles and holds them perfectly cut after cut. there is almost no burr so cleaning up the steel is very easy. this saw is not as loud as the chop saw and as long as you use SLIGHT PRESSURE the blade cuts great and seems to last for a long time. I would have to say the only negative thing I would say is it is very messy but any saw of this type is going to be the same way so that's just the nature of the beast. overall I am very satisfied with this saw and plan to use it for many years.

No More Abrasive Chop Saw !
I do a fair amount of metal cutting and have gone through 3 big box store abrasive chop saws in the last 20 years with all the motors eventually burning out. I also spent way more than the cost of the saws on abrasive and diamond metal blades. This time, I decided to spend more for a better machine. After researching, I settled on this chop saw. After making my first cut on a piece of 1/4" thick steel, I couldn't believe the difference ! It was quick, easy, much quieter and nearly spark free. Additionally, the cut was straight and accurate with a very small burr. Only time will tell if this saw will last longer than the others, but with a much lower RPM motor and the carbide blade that needs much less energy to cut, I expect this one to last for a long time. I highly recommend.
