Unbeatable Reliability! The YoLink LoRa Smart Door & Window Sensor is a Game-Changer!
I've been slowly building out my smart home, and when it came to securing my doors and windows, I wanted something truly reliable. After trying a few other brands, I decided to give the YoLink LoRa Smart Door & Window Sensor a try, and I am absolutely blown away by its performance! This sensor has quickly become the cornerstone of my home security and automation. The installation was incredibly simple. It took me less than a minute per sensor to attach them to my doors and windows using the included adhesive. Pairing them with my YoLink Hub was equally effortless, and they were recognized instantly. No complicated wiring, no fussy setup โ just quick and easy integration. What truly sets this sensor apart is its use of LoRa (Long Range) technology. This is not just marketing hype; it genuinely makes a massive difference in range and reliability. I have sensors on detached sheds and gates at the very edge of my property, and they connect flawlessly to my hub inside the house, something other smart home devices struggled with. I get instant notifications on my phone every time a door or window is opened or closed, without any dropped signals or false alarms. This consistent, dependable performance provides immense peace of mind. The battery life is also exceptional, thanks to LoRa's low power consumption. I haven't had to think about changing batteries since I installed them, which is a huge convenience compared to other sensors that drain batteries quickly. I've integrated these sensors into various automation routines, from turning on lights when a door opens to triggering security alerts, and they perform flawlessly every single time. The YoLink app is intuitive and provides clear status updates for all my sensors. In summary, if you're looking for a smart door and window sensor that you can truly depend on, with incredible range, rock-solid reliability, and effortless installation, look no further than the YoLink LoRa Smart Door & Window Sensor. It's a premium product that delivers on every promise and is an essential addition to any smart home. Highly, highly recommend!

It works well for metal mailbox opening detection
I got this for my mailbox opening detection. I tried some indoor contact sensors but they do not have long range and I tried ring mailbox sensor (RMS). But I found out the RMS does not work well when I placed it in the back of the inside of the mailbox. I found out RMS is human heat based instead of detection of any object movement. With Yolink, I placed it inside a metal mail box and it works every time. Initially, the only problem I have is the sensor falling. I placed the sensor on a stationary side of the mailbox and the magnet on the back of the opening door. Maybe the door with the magnet hit the sensor. So I put some strong two sided tape on the sensor and placed it a bit further from the magnet (but need to be within 0.4 inch gap as specified). And I put one side of velcro tape to the small contact between two metal plates of the mail box so when the door is closed, the door will not slam each other and create vibration to dislodge the contact sensor. If it falls again, I will replace the two sided tape with velcro tape so I can remove it easily for battery change in the future. So far it works really well without falling. It works with Amazon Alexia well and it will pronounce "You've got mail". That is pretty cool. The software is pretty encompassing. It looked like yolink spent a lot of time on the software. After you get used to it, it is pretty powerful. I put another one as refrigerator door opening sensor. Each sensor can have its own alerting scheme if you wish. Both notify on my iPhone (you can select if the notification can appear in locked screen (critical alert) or just a banner on top of the phone or on apple watch. And it also alerts on Alexia, if you wish, "The refrigerator door is opened". And if it stay opened for a specified time, you can have the notification again repeatedly on the iPhone. It is pretty useful since the range from the sensor to the hub is very long so it works consistently. I like this purchase - easy installation, works well within metal, long range for consistency, comprehensive software, work with Alexia. I wish it works with Apple HomeKit but it seems like not for now.

These work great, no complaints
I am really impressed with these door sensors. Have not had one issue at all with them and it's been 4 months so far, they were easy to set up and they just work. I was able to connect them with Alexa and I made a routine to announce if a door is left open for too long. I also use then to automatically lock my doors with smart locks, they signal when the door is closed and tell Alexa to lock it. I recently started getting into Home Assistant and they connected to that with no issue either. You really can't go wrong with these, my house has thick plaster walls and all the sensors still have a very strong signal. I added the indoor siren and outdoor motion sensor to detect when a car pulls in my driveway and those work flawlessly too.

Concerned About Reliability - Update: No issues after two months.
Update: I have now used this system continuously for over two months and aside for the initial setup issues mentioned below the system has been flawless as far as detecting the status of the monitored doors. Very happy with the reliability at this point. Plan to expand my system. I purchased the Hub and four door sensors bundle. I only expect to use three sensors for now. Prior to purchase I read a lot of reviews and watched videos. Decided to take a chance due to low cost to get started and I needed a way to monitor the doors in my barn. I have used other systems years ago: X-10, Insteon, etc. so I am familiar with home automation. Ease of setting up was one of the big incentives. First I downloaded the app an set up account, then I setup the hub via the QR code and connected to the internet with an Ethernet connection (not WIFI). I have a solid Internet/ Ethernet/WIFI connection the vast majority of the time. NO issues. Then, I setup the first door sensor, QR code, etc. etc. Then the second, no issues again. Open/Close actions detected without any issues. This is nice! I thought. Then the third: While it connected to sensor easily and reported a strong signal and 100 % battery life, it refused to detect correctly the status of the sensor. Pressing the set button would refresh the correct state on the app but opening and closing of the sensor would fail to report the correct state of the sensor again. Since I had a fourth sensor I decided to delete the 3rd one and tried that one with the same results. I checked the other sensors and they started to do the same. The firmware was up to date on the sensors and I then noticed that the hub firmware needed and update. Proceeded to do this with the same results. Finally, I restarted the hub and after a while, it seems that it is reporting the state of the sensors correctly. I should also mention that while one of the reasons I pulled the trigger on this system is the potential for Long Range capabilities; the sensors I am using so far are within 30 feet of the hub and line of sight. The problematic sensor is within seven feet. If additional issues surface as I gain experience with the system I will update this review.

Solved a problem Iโve been struggling to find a solution for over a year!
Let me start my review by saying first of all, this is a great product. Easy to install, easy to use, great support, everything you could want for a smart home product. I live in an apartment complex, and I have a detached garage that I have struggled with since I got it. The problem is, between my apartment Ned my garage, there are 4 other apartments, with who knows how many walls between, totaling about 200-300 ft. I constantly forget to shut my garage door when I leave, and I have no one to check if I left it open for me as I live alone. So Iโll leave for work in the mornings, get about 15 minutes away, then think โI canโt remember if I closed the garageโ, so then I have to drive back and check if itโs closed. Majority of the time, I did close it, but had no way of knowing without driving all the way back. Iโve tried beaming a wifi signal out there with expensive antennas to no avail. Iโve tried a cellular solution using a hotspot device, but thereโs basically zero signal inside the garage. No solution I could think of would solve my problem. Then I read about a technology called LoRa, which utilizes a lower frequency radio signal than WiFi or Cellular, meaning it is able to penetrate walls much better, and enables a longer range overall. I looked into how I could build a LoRa link between my apartment and my garage, but everything required super custom setup, buying radio modules and programming them to work between. I finally found YoLink, and was hooked. I bought this door sensor and hub pack, as well as the relay module. I got it yesterday night, and went to hook it up today. The install process was super simple; connected power and Ethernet, then configured my wifi network and moved it to the room closest to my garage. Then I added the door sensor and headed to the garage. I mounted the magnet to the door, and then tested the battery portion with some tape. It worked first try, and instantly enabled me to see the status of my garage door. Iโm working on installing the relay next so I can remotely close the door if needed. Now when I think I didnโt close my door, I can open the app and see if I did without driving all the way back. Such a simple problem, but I wish I found this simple solution earlier! P.S.: The developers seem to be super engaged with โpower usersโ interested in adding capability and supporting us. I reached out today on a Saturday via email and had a response within 30 minutes! I was expecting to wait until Monday at least, so needless to say theyโve made an awesome first impression. Looking forward to seeing what else I can do next using YoLink!

Perfect In Every Way
Perfect in every way to add a little extra security knowing when doors are opened. I have these announcing through Alexa and they work very well. I had to contact YoLink via email to direct me for proper connection to Alexa, and they spelled everything out step by step that connected the first time on every door. I'm adding some of the outdoor sensors too.

Safe and secure with Yolink!!
We've just installed our new Yolink system and these door sensors along with our othรฉr Yolink devices are super easy to use! The 3M tape makes mounting really easy and it is super strong. We've not had any issues with them not staying where I've installed them. The sensors are very responsive to the doors and windows being opened and closed. They are very compatible with our siren, key fob and he app. They are loud enough to be heard but with them being connected to the app you can see which device is going off which is helpful in our case because we have a 2 story house. You're gonna love Yolink!!

Best Alternative for SmarthThings
I've spent a large amount of time researching on the what would be the best Hub for my smart home. For me, a hub needed three qualifications: It has to work with Alexa -- has to be compatible with various devices like sensors, smart plugs, smart lights ect. -- and has to be user-friendly; easy to setup. The Samsung SmartThings Hub was on top of my list. Although, I wasn't ready to jump in and get a hub right away, since I've been using the TP-Link Kasa smart home products - which require no hub. Also, I've been using the Amazon Echo Flex with motion sensor, which requires no hub either. Unfortunately, I had just found out last week, Samsung has discontinued the SmartThings hub and SmartThings products. They're doing a re-structuring of their smart home product line and are staying quiet of what the future of products would be. This left me with a problem. If I want to give my smart home more functionality, I needed more sensors (that worked with Alexa). For the most part, most sensors I've found require a hub and needed compatibility with some standard like z-wave or zigbee -- or required some know-how like linux or needed IOS. So, what was my issue? When it came to user-friendliness and easy to setup, SmartThings was my best choice for that. I started searching for door sensors that required no hub, and somehow found this hidden gem. Like SmartThings, Yolink consist of similar products and has it's own hub (YoLink Hub). So, I took the chance. Pros: Setup of the devices was fairly easy. Response from the sensors is quick. As soon as I open the door, I hear Alexa instantly tell me the door is open (need to create a routine of course). I have a kid :) Has been working really well with TP-Link KASA products - as well as the Amazon Smart Plug. So far, the Yolink door sensors and Yolink hub have responded great to any routine I created in alexa. Had no issues - really Cons: The device has to be registered in the Yolink app. To do this, you have to scan a QR code labeled on the device. For some reason, it can take a while to scan, or my phone has trouble scanning it. Eventually it does recognize the device. I did not take a star away from the review because it could be my phone or how I'm holding the phone. I preferred connecting my Yolink Hub via ethernet to my router, which is what I recommend. The connection is more stable, safer and quicker. Although, you can connect to your home router using wireless if you want. Conclusion: Great Alternative to SmartThings. I'll be expanding with more Yolink devices in the future.

Great product
What a great product. I have the sensors on my refridgerator and freezer doors because the doors don't always close properly. Bought extra sensors to give to my kids so they start having fun and reliability with Yolink products.

It's a good start... but not perfect.
Long story short, these two guys came to my house to clean my heating ducts and started to make really weird jokes about how they could rob me of my stuff and then resell it back to me. I didn't like that at all. So I came to Amazon to see what sort of solutions existed in this day and age, before I considered getting a professional home security system that you pay for every month etc. Yes, that option is by far the best if you want 100% peace of mind. That said, I wanted to give this product a try and here's what I have to say about it: PROS = everything is relatively small so it doesn't take up a bunch of space. The piece that connects to your router is the size of a smoke detector and can be set up on a wall, or leave it on the floor like I did, next to the router. I plug it in with the cable rather than WIFI, it's that much more reliable that way. It comes with 4 detectors, which is exactly how many I needed (2 windows and 2 doors). Once you're set up, you have to go into the app and click a few times to get to the alarm scenario you want to activate once you've left your home. Sometimes the app takes a few more seconds to launch and find your scenario. I absolutely love that I can see the situation anywhere I am, you can see in the app the status of each detector. I also love that I was able to get notifications sent to my smart watch (it sends an email if something is going on)! CONS Set up is wonky and rather unintuitive. Others have said so too. I spent more time than I wanted to on the software setup. IMPORTANT: don't do what I did, scan each detector BEFORE you stick it to the spot!! I installed a detector (after having to modify the door frame because it didn't fit naturaly) and then I had to scan it to include it in the software and I couldn't get my damn phone to see the QR code properly - and once you stick it to the door or wall it's over!! Also important: even though it has really good sticking glue some of the detectors eventually fall off. I tried hot glue and what not, nothing seems to work. I resorted to ugly black electric tape and so far this is the only thing keeping the detectors in place, for the ones that come off. It depends on the surface, and you should probably up your chances of success by cleaning the surface before sticking them on, which I did not do. I bought the siren alarm to go with it, the sound is alright but not scary alarming loud. Am I happy so far? YES! I can see what's going on when I'm away, I get prompt warnings if something is happening, and once the set up is figured out you're good to go.

Great window or door sensor from a good company
Like all YoLink products it's very high quality. Works great to detect an open door or window. In my case I used it to remind me if I left the shed door open or if someone opens it in the middle of the night. Range is fantastic. Way better than wifi - will work even from a block away or more. The only thing I don't like about this (and many other YoLink products) is that they attach via double sided tape. Yes that's easy but in my case the magnet part eventually fell off the wood door. Why can't they provide screw holes? Such a small design decision that would have been really helpful. Not enough for me not to recommend it but really I expected to be able to screw these on if I wanted.
