General Test Scoring Pencil Box/12

I've used these pencils especially for crossword solving for many years. They're great.

I brought these for my grandson who was learning to write. He would print so light that it was hard to read. Buying these made the difference. He is now writing very dark and these are working very well for him.

This is the best pencil for me to write. I have a collection of nearly every brand that is good to write (a few of my tools in the picture) and I can easily say General's Test Scoring 580 is darker than all of the above, maybe Palamino's have the same darkness. And you do not need to sharpen them as much as the other brands. Not so buttery like some of the other brands (which I like not having too much buttery feeling) but very smooth and has a slight sound as it should with a good quality pencil and you can't stop writing :)

I was almost out of "Generals" I had ordered them almost 2 years ago and got them in a big box. I can't find the big box anymore they are sold I in single packs and a bit expensive but worth every penny. I did not buy them for testing...I bought them for durability and sharpening quality. They always make a nice sharp point using my battery operated sharpener. I like the dark marks they make just right for what I need. I am a music lover and often write in the notes of more difficult pieces for piano--the notes are readable and the lines fine. When you don't need the notes you can cleanly erase them from the book. I am still looking for a box of generals without the big price tag. Think I will have to pay for what I get!

I have been a crossword puzzle enthusiast for decades and was flustered with standard HB pencils and erasable pens, both of which either don't create a dark mark or respond well to erasing. This pencil is perfect! It sharpens to a keen point, produces a dark black mark and erases with ease.

A General Pencil employee told me that these pencils were popular for doing crossword puzzles. She was correct. My wife and I had been using no. 4, 5, and 6 pencils to complete crossword and other puzzles in our daily newspaper. These "testing pencils" are just as readable and stay sharper longer (we think) than General's "Kimberly" drawing pencils. Also, the testing pencils seem to write smoother than the drawing pencils. Plus, they come with an eraser attached, the drawing pencils do not.

I first used these pencils in the military for testing purposes. I loved the way they wrote and I've used them ever since. Mistakes erase nicely and are easy to sharpen. My go-to writing piece.

Great pencils but expensive. Found almost the same quality in Walmart for $2. These are darker or I would have returned them.
