Is there a difference betwen the apex bionic and apex bionic soft shell jacket?

I do not think there is a difference. The material is relatively soft, but not fleece-like.

I'm 6'2 w a 36 waist the XL fits perfectly, not big in the middle. It does seem like a slim cut jacket.

It is a fleece type of lining. Not really an insulation. It doesn't need it. It is the warmest jacket I own. I regularly travel with it to 20-30 degree weather because of the lack of bulk and stay warm just fine. If I wear it in about 50+ degrees, I burn up. So, I also bought the vest. I love them both!

The north face logo is color white amd embroidered?

Yes, front chest and back shoulder. There is one color option that has the embroidery in black also.
