Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Support Brace

I broke my ankle by rolling it stepping off the elliptical and was so relieved I could use an air cast instead of a boot. There’s a newer fancier air cast but it’s so restrictive that it’s uncomfortable and held my ankle more than I needed. The doctor didn’t like how it fit me and suggested I buy the old school version on Amazon. Much happier with this. It’s easy to walk in and adjustable. It will damage your shoes though so know going in that you’ll need new sneakers when you’re done using it. The ankle area of the shoe gets permanently stretched out because it’s bulky and thick.

It took me 2 days wearing it to get it adjusted just right. I couldn't find a thing about FIT ADJUSTMENT on the product website or even on Youtube, only instructions on how to put it on. Also, there was no clue as to how to determine what size to order. Sizes are the number of inches the brace extends up your calf. Just going by the pictures, I aimed for the top of my crew sock, which turned out to be a size Small, even though I have a wide shoe size and a large calf. As to adjustment, I found the trick is getting the bottom width adjustment wide enough that you don't actually feel the cast when you walk. At first there was a slight pressure on the inside of my heel that became very uncomfortable after awhile. A few test adjustments and voila'- comfort and a very effective product.

One month after a fractured ankle, I wanted to move into something Lea bulky than the boot. I slept in it one night and had to take it off in the middle of the night because it was so uncomfortable! I thought, maybe it’s too soon and tried again a week later and is still so uncomfortable and there is no way I could fit it in any shoe even tennis shoes! The ad says you can return or exchange but when I tried to return it, it says no refunds! So very disappointed!!!!!

The Air-Stirrup definitely provides stability and support for my sprained ankle. I am wearing it indoors as much as possible. I am editing this, because I previously wrote that it was impossible to get a shoe on when wearing the AirCast. We subsequently discovered that a small adjustment allows me to pull the cast up far enough that I can get my foot into a sneaker and even some sandals. Now that I've figured this out, I can wear it both inside and outside. I think it will be helpful on an upcoming trip. One "con" is that the instructions are written in a .5 size font, fine for teenagers, not so much for over-forties. For getting around the house for a few days until my ankle (I hope) improves, it's a good solution, and not terribly pricey.

I wear women’s size 6.5 shoe and am petite. The size small fits well. I bought it for 39.99+ tax. The urgent care center was selling the same exact one for $200. The PT advised me to buy it retail or online because insurance reimbursement was very iffy. I have a sprained ankle. I wrap my foot with the ace bandage from urgent care then put this air brace on. Seems to give more stability and ease the pain. I probably won’t wear it if I have to wear my tennis shoes. The plastic is too stiff and thick

At first I wasn't impressed by the brace... But I kept playing with it to adjust the fit. Once I figured that out, I fell in love! It is better than any other splint/brace I tried. I actually have seen a HUGE difference when I wear it and when I don't. Walk great with it. Without it I get shooting pain with every step. It took a while to "figure out" the best way to wear it so don't give up. It's worth it! Cons- hard to fit at first. Doesn't fit in shoes as easily as advertised. Pros- WALK WITHOUT PAIN!!! Hard outside shell protects from my dog banging into me

I sprained my ankle and needed stabilization to decrease pain. I wanted a support that would allow me to flex my ankle, but limit side-to-side twisting motion. While the Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Support Brace did provide stabilization, it was too narrow to be comfortable. I adjusted to the widest setting for my small (Size 7) foot but still found it uncomfortable.

Worked great and supportive for about 5 days. Then both sides deflated. Holes in them could not be found and fixed by duct tape for more than a day. They kept deflating again and again within 5 minutes. If this cast worked the way it was designed to, reinflating with the straw and closing it back over, it would be wonderful. But it didn't for me. Not sure if it is this particular one that is defunct. Gonna try to either replace it or get a different type. Very frustrating!
