I love them!!!
I was a bit sceptical about this product because some of the reviews werenโt that good. But oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE these traps!! First of all, they look very beautiful at night, I really enjoy the fire effect. Secondly, they do catch insects. The photos Iโll be sharing are from Day 1 using this product, and already there are quite a few insects trapped. The only thing to bear in mind is that it doesnโt make much noise; it might seem like itโs not doing anything since you donโt hear or see anything, but if you take a closer look, youโll notice quite a few mosquitoes. Thirdly, I saw quite a few comments complaining about the battery life. I didnโt track the exact time, but in my area it gets dark around 6 pm, and they were still working at midnight, so they seem to last quite a while. The only downside I can think of is that the plastic poles donโt feel very sturdy. Weโve placed them in spots where theyโre not likely to be hit by much wind, and they seem fine for now, but I wouldnโt recommend exposing them to strong winds in your area.

Beautiful, add ambiance to yard
This are easy to install, they have an automatic dusk to dawn setting, and flicker like real torches. The colors are gorgeous! Much better than in the pictures. We like these so much we got six of them!

Stylish Bug Zapper with Great Ambiance
The PIC Solar Insect Killer Torch (DFST) is a fantastic blend of style and function for outdoor spaces. Its flickering LED flame effect creates a warm, tiki-torch-like glow, perfect for patio ambiance, while the zapper effectively takes out bugs. The solar-powered design is eco-friendly, charging in sunlight and lasting up to 6 hours at night in our yard Pros: โข Realistic flame effect โข Solar-powered, eco-friendly, and cord-free โข Adjustable heights for flexible placement Cons: โข Pole is flimsy and doesnโt stand straight when fully extended โข Bug tray is small and can be tricky to clean

I don't know how well it kills, but it is really pretty and handles salt air
I see residue when pulling out the tray, but I don't know if it is actually getting mosquitos or just small moths, but for the price, I would use it for the lighting alone. I have had this for over 3 months in a salt air environment. I do not shelter it or take it in for rain or "normal" wind, and they are functioning well still. I had one late night where I thought I was going to have to say differently because the light was acting "weird" and finally stopped working around midnight even when I alternated on/off. But I had forgotten that it had been a particularly dark and stormy week, and the next evening after recharging it was back to it's happy glow. The UV light blends nicely with the flame effect to give it the "gas lit" torch look.

Flimsy and no bugs
I was looking for a solar insect zapper. This product claims to be a solar insect killer torch, so I thought it might be a good deal with a little ambiance-adding feature (the torch). Right off the bat I was disappointed in the flimsy plastic poles that move with the slightest breeze. They also do not stay straight no matter how straight you sink the first section into the ground. That should have been my first clue to return them before the return date passed! I thought they did look nice at night as the "torch" lit up at night. I was noticing that when I would sit on the patio at night that I was still hearing that very familiar buzzing sound in my ears. I figured they were flying by my ears on the way to getting zapped. I decided to check the tray to see if it needed to be emptied after a few months of use. Upon removing the tray I discovered that either these are self-cleaning bug zappers, or they hadn't killed even ONE bug. I believe the latter to be true. I would recommend to anyone looking at this product to limit yourselves to looking only. The torch part works well, but all the rest is a waste of money.

Nice lamp, not great zapper
The torch looks realistic and pretty to look at when it comes on at night. The solar panel charge lasts much of the night. I really like that no wiring is needed and it can be placed anywhere. The pole is flimsy and the bottom prong can break in strong wind, but it also comes with a table-top mount and that is more useful. As a bug zapper it is not great. It does work, but only until it has enough bugs to short-out the circuit and you don't really know when that happened without close inspection. The grid has to be cleaned to restore service and that requires lots of brushing or compressed air. Can of air works well, but it gets costly. The grid voltage is relatively low for a bug zapper and does not cause a loud popping sound when bugs get zapped. The bug tray is too small and also difficult to pull out. So, not great as a bug zapper but a really nice torch lamp. Kind of expensive only as a lamp, though. Update: Stopped working completely after a couple of months. Apparently the switch is not weatherproof. Started working again after replacing the switch with a better one.

Durable
I purchased these 6 years ago. They've been left outside year round, and they still work and look fantastic! However, they do nothing for bugs. They're more decorative than anything.

Great for ambience lighting - NOT for any type of bug control
I purchased one from Loweโs and like most reviews state, they look great! 2-stars is strictly for the great look. If they were marketed as ambient lighting for backyard and โmayโ attract a bug, may not, then I would rate it better. I think a $20-25 price point would be reasonable for this item Vs the $39.99 they charge, I find that very steep for the quality of the item. Needless to say, when I was at Loweโs Hardware, they only had 1 left in stock, so I ordered two here hoping that having three would assist with the bugs in our backyard since they say 1/2 acre per device protection. Sadly, I received them today and it was obvious I was sent previously returned items. There wasnโt the table stand piece in either box that they say are included and one box the lantern was covered and the other was uncovered and scratched. Along with the items were all free flowing in the boxes without any stability within the boxes. Quite disappointing. I then realized when I took one of them to my backyard to compare to my in-store purchase; the amazon lanterns are about a foot shorter when utilizing all posts and the post isnโt as sturdy as the solid one-piece from in-store. I cannot speak on the bug zapping ability to the two I got here on Amazon, as I am returning these the same day received. I can say the one I bought in-store I have now had for 3-days and there isnโt one bug on the tray at all, and there are plenty to โzap/attractโ. Yes itโs placed away from any other lights, yes itโs the brightest light to attract bugs and NO it still hasnโt done any bug control. I donโt recommend purchasing for bug control, but if you want ambience and enjoy the flickering tiki torch look, these are great for that.

Delivered as promised on time.
They add ambience to my patio after dark and I haven't seen a mosquito. Great product for the price.

Not sure how it is with bugs because it comes on after dark. But it's pretty
I wish there was a option to turn on during daylight hours.

Worked at first but
You can't tell when it is charging nor can you tell when it is on or not. I got it to work one night, but since then it has not charged or turned on. Too bad it's past the return time.

Not a bug attraction
This is a beautiful light up torch but doesnโt attract bugs. Not with it. We bought 2 more just for decoration. Find other light to use

Works, but not that great
The solar panel feature is nice but it doesn't come on automatically at sundown most of the time (have to press a button) and it does not attract or kill many bugs. I am unimpressed.
