Long-Term Review — A Reliable, Well-Designed Microwave That Still Performs Like New
This is my long-term review of the Breville Inverter Microwave Oven, which I’ve been using since 2021. For some background, Breville is an Australian brand known as Sage in the Australian, Uk and parts of Europe. What sets Breville apart is their attention to design and technology that genuinely meets everyday needs. They originally gained fame for their coffee makers, but over time, they’ve expanded into high-quality kitchen appliances. I chose this particular microwave because I wanted a stainless steel model with inverter technology — but without any extra functions like air frying, since I already own a separate air fryer. Build & Design The build quality is very good — but not as heavy-duty as some GE or LG models, but solid and well-balanced. It has a stainless steel exterior that still looks great after years of use. I use this microwave multiple times a day for everything from breakfast to dinner, and it’s held up incredibly well. There have been no mechanical or technical issues, and it still performs like new.The display is large and clear, and although I’ve read some users had display failures, mine has worked perfectly since day one. The buttons are very responsive, and both control dials (one for time and one for power level) still work smoothly. Performance This microwave features inverter technology, which means it provides continuous, even heating instead of cycling on and off like traditional models. That makes it excellent for defrosting, melting, and reheating food evenly without cold spots. The defrost mode works beautifully — I use it regularly for meat and frozen meals, and the results are consistently even. This model warmsford fast and evenly without any burn point. It is not perfect as I have yet to find any microwave that has issue with overpower or under power. However I find that it is well balanced power delivery to the food which warms the food evenly. There’s also a convenient “Add 30 Seconds” button, and you can turn off the turntable if you’re heating something large. The display indicators are helpful too, showing which power levels correspond to melting, defrosting, and reheating. Ease of Use & Cleaning The interior is easy to clean, and after years of daily use, it shows no stains, burns, or discoloration. The handle design is another plus — easy to grip and far more durable than the push-button doors found on many other microwaves. The microwave also features small raised feet, which give it slight elevation for better airflow and cooling. The air exhaust vents are positioned at the bottom, which helps manage heat and odors efficiently. Final Thoughts After using this Breville microwave for several years, I can confidently say it’s one of the most reliable and thoughtfully designed kitchen appliances I own. I also considered LG and Panasonic, which use similar inverter technology, but I found the Breville offers the best balance of design, usability, and performance. It’s stylish, durable, easy to clean, and incredibly consistent in performance. If you want a high-quality microwave that will last for years, this Breville model is an excellent investment.

Excellent choice!
This is a fantastic microwave! It's very quiet compared to all other brands I've ever heard or owned, and I love the door's soft-close feature. The interior is bright and elegant. The control panel is big, easy to see and simple to use with lots of options. It's very poweful too, much more so than my last machine which was supposed to be 1100 watts. I love that the special coffee/tea reheat selection gets it hot but not boiling - immediately just right drinking temperature. I've had mine for more than 4 months now and it's been absolutely perfect. No glitches or problems. It's nice and compact and fits easily on my small countertop space. I feel like it's well-made and doesn't appear to be tinny or cheap. The only complaint I have is that you can't see the time - oh it's there, but without any light on the machine when it's inactive, you really can't see the black numbers on a grey background. Still, I love it and it looks great in my kitchen!

A really nicely made and easy to use microwave. And yet...
UPDATED: So after fixing this thing two years into its working life, the transformer blew out today, three years after I bought it. Despite the design touches and user interface that make this such a nice microwave, it’s hard to justify 400 bucks for such an unreliable appliance, especially when so many others are afflicted with the exact same problem. I’m revising my rating to one star and searching for a replacement. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is a beautiful countertop appliance, and the interface is super clever and intuitive. The soft close feature was my favorite detail of this oven, but it stopped working in the first six months I owned it. Didn't want to deal with returning it, so I just ignored it. Then, after two years, I got the dreaded E-05 error so many people have reported and it stopped heating, even while all other features worked just fine. After some research, I narrowed the cause of the problem to two possible causes: the magnetron (an expensive and time-consuming fix), and the lower door switch (a cheap and easy fix). I bought a set of door switches (12 for $7.99 on Amazon) replaced the culprit in about 5 minutes, and all is well again. I'm very happy with this microwave, but I realize taking it apart and fixing it is both dangerous and difficult for most people, and would be unnecessary for most other brands after just two years of use. So despite my satisfaction with the unit, I find it hard to give it more than 3 stars for anyone looking for a quality high-end microwave. I hear Panasonic makes some impressive units.

Great ease of use. Smart cook, defrost and warm-up is just and excellent feature. Had the older model and it finally quit working after 7 years of daily use. Their product is a little bit more expensive, however definitely worth the additional funds.

After 9 months, power is less than before. Almost impossible to pop properly a popcorn bag. As weird as it sounds, it’s always doing crackling sound when not in use. Was expecting a high end product but it’s the worst of all Breville i ever bought. If i could get a refund, i would buy a less expensive one for sure. Don’t recommend at all.

Insane, I am on my 4th microwave now! I have tried Toshiba. Panasonic (2 of them) and had to return everyone of them. I think I found just what I needed. This microwave is awesome, very well built, all stainless steel inside and outside, very bright inside LED light, Large lit led dials and pad for easy viewing, which is what I was looking for for months. This was the only one I could find with this option which is REALLY nice. I had to use reader glasses to view the other pads and use a light to see them. Very easy to use with great selections. Cooks and defrosts almost perfect. It costs more but well worth the money. The best one I have ever used!! If you want, there is a video blog on you tube (worth watching) for more information. Oh ya awesome warranty!!

I have had it for a week and am very pleased. Great for exact defrost and cooking - not to much heat, not too little. Lots of smart features. Bright and sparkling and easy to keep clean. Only minor improvement to recommend is to back light the clock for use in the dark.
