Amazon Basics Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress, Medium Feel, Motion Isolation Springs, 12-Inch, King Size, White/Gray

First update (July 2020) I'm now a month in and I'm still very happy with this mattress. It is very comfortable, my quality of sleep has improved and I have way less back and shoulder pain. Only thing I've been looking into is a cooling gel infused mattress topper because it's now the dead of summer and uncomfortably warm even at night. I bought this and it arrived at my doorstep within 5 days. Very convenient. Packaged neatly, compressed and delivered by UPS. Total came out to $358.37 which is cheap for a bed, I was questioning the quality but decided to go for it because Amazon's return policies are decent. I ordered this mattress, along with the ZINUS Arnav Modern Studio 10 Inch Platform 2000 Metal Bed Frame (which I also reviewed so it is now available on my profile), after the old mattress I’ve had since high school developed a crater so deep it was visible even when no one was on the bed. Even the box spring was flattened in the center so I decided I needed a whole new setup. I personally spent hours reviewing various mattresses, weighing pros and cons of memory foam vs. spring vs hybrids. I decided on this hybrid mattress from AmazonBasics because I trust the brand a bit more than some of the unfamiliar online-only ones, and I chose hybrid because before this I had a pillow top spring mattress so I wasn’t sure I’d like a 100% foam bed. This mattress is firm without being too hard, it’s comfortable and the motion isolation claims are true, especially for a couple like myself and my spouse who previously had a spring mattress and felt every movement. It is nice being able to turn over without waking each other. The price is very good for the quality and honestly I’d recommend purchasing this bed, I don’t feel like this mattress will have any issues with indenting. However I will be back to update my review especially if anything goes wrong. Also I’d recommend purchasing a mattress protector, I have one on the way. The foam seems like it’d be absorbent and I’d rather not damage it with accidental spills. I think I made a good choice. Overall the process was easy, unbox and unwrap the mattress on the frame or wherever you choose to keep it because it’s easier that way. Personally I think my mattress was full after about 2 hours or so, we slept on it that night with no problems. I ordered the 12 inch / queen version so it’s definitely higher up than I’m used to, but I enjoy how much easier it is to get in and out of bed with the height. I’m comfortable, I slept well, no weird aches or pains, but with the shape that my last mattress was in, anything is an improvement. I fully believe I made a good choice with this bed, as comfortable and well made as it appears. I am a guy in my early 20s though so there was no struggle for me to pick up the box and since it was delivered to my doorstep I just had to drag it down the hallway to my room, where I eagerly tore open packaging like a child on Christmas day, only for this thing to spring open and the impact was like an air-bag. Don’t open it the way I did - watch a video on opening them and for best results, lay it in your bed frame before opening it. TL;DR Freshly ordered and set up, so far so good. No noxious odors, no issues with quality or damage, very comfortable. Will be back to update as time progresses. First night of sleep went really well. Let me start off by saying my last mattress was a sealy posturepedic which I had for 12 years. It was a great mattress but had to go and while shopping around the prices are all over the board for what seems like the same product. One day at Costco I saw a mattress selling for almost $1800 and after trying it I was about to buy it but told my self to go home and do some research and that's how I came across this bed as I do purchase a lot from Amazon. You will find everyone giving mixed reviews about most mattresses because we all have our own preferences when sleeping. With that being said I prefer a medium firmness and am a side sleeper with sleeping issues that I have had for decades. Anyway knowing it's Amazon and if it's not good for whatever reason I could return it so I pulled the trigger and bought this bed. I was anxious to get it and was amazed that it fit in such a small box but it was heavy. I managed to get the king sized mattress upstairs and opened it up and in amazent watched it expand. I know they say it takes 48-72 hours to fully expand but mine was fine in 8 hours. The mattress does have a slight smell like most memory foam beds do, my kids beds had it as well and theirs were from a major brand. Anyway I left my windows open for the day and closed it at bed time and have to say there was still a smell to the bed that night. It eventually went away after 3 days. Now for sleeping on it, it took me a day or two to get used to it and following that it has been the best night's sleep I have ever gotten. It is firm when you get in and then it conforms to your shape and let me say no back pains, like I had in my last bed. Unlike standard memory foam this has not trapped the heat and kept me comfortable and given me great support from head to toe. Is this comparable to a casper mattress, I can't say but it's one heck of a bed at an amazing price with Amazon backing it up. It has just been a few weeks now so I can't state how it will do over the years but I will provide an update in a few months. Again for the money you can't find anything comparable out there and it seems to be built well.

This was a low cost replacement for an older "S" brand bed. This is pretty good but seems like the springs and foam won't hold up long term without having permanent body depressions where we sleep. It's been about a month and I can already see some deformation of the springs and foam. I'm fairly lightweight at 145lbs and 5'9" so heavier people may want to look elsewhere. Overall pretty comfortable so far. This would be better as a guest room bed instead of an every night sleeper.

Nov2022 Paid $399.90 We are in our mid 40s and we were starting to experience a good deal of neck and back pain (leg too). After realizing our old Serta had a bit of a sink hole - we decided to get a new mattress before chalking up the aches and pains to getting older. After a good bit of research and working within our budget - this Amazon mattress looked like it would fit the bill. We’ve never had a memory foam but have the slept on them before. We live in a climate that runs 100-115 degrees in the summer. Memory foam is usually too warm for us (even in the winter they make me hot). So we opted to try out the hybrid. We liked the idea of memory foam for our joints but wanted some support from some springs. Delivery Day: It puffed up pretty quickly after removing the plastic and the out gassing wasn’t particularly bothersome to either one of us. It smelled new sure but it wasn’t that bad. Trying it out: Our first couple nights were actually kind of weird. It was firmer than I thought it would be and we were pretty used to our 20 year old mattress so it took a second to get used to not laying in a hole? 😂 But the first night we both woke up with fewer aches. And by day 3, pretty much no aches and we were reveling in how soft something so firm could feel when sleeping on it. Update: May 2022 We got this mattress in Nov 2021. It is now almost May 2022 and unlike some reviewer complaints - we’ve not had any issue with the mattress denting or caving in. It still looks pretty much like it did when we got it. I weigh about 140 and my husband weighs about 180 - neither of our sides have dents. We have rotated it once since we’ve had it (just swapped what was the head end). It does run warm. Not as warm as full memory foam mattress. But it still runs warm. In the winter it’s actually fantastic. We haven’t tried it in the summer but we’ve already begun to see some warmer temps and I’ve found less blankets and lighter weight clothes was all we needed to adjust to manage the warmer mattress. I’ll try to update my review after a year has gone by. I hope Amazon keeps making these. They are comfortable, good quality and more affordable than similar options. Update: April 2024 Everything I said before stands. Still comfortable. Shows no signs of dipping. We have both gained some weight since the previous update too. We even watch evening tv 5 nights a week chillaxing in it. Once a year we flip head/foot to rotate the mattress. We’ve kept it in a heavy duty, good quality mattress cover from day 1. (Highly recommend doing that) Looks pretty much brand new.

I just wanted to leave a short review of my experience with living with this mattress. Coming from a well used pillow top that was well past its use by date, I decided to take a chance on this mattress. For the reasonable price I felt it was well worth the risk. It arrived as promised and the package it arrived in wasn’t overly large but it was rather heavy. I did need help getting it up my stairs and into my bedroom. Once upstairs it was very easy to set up. Assemble the frame, open the box, remove the mattress from its plastic wrap and let it unroll and inflate to its proper size. Once I let it air out I put on the bedding and looked forward to my first night’s sleep on my new mattress. I have to say that I found the mattress to be firm yet supportive and very comfortable to sleep on. I’ve been sleeping on it for a little over a year and I will say that I’m extremely satisfied. It’s remained firm yet still comfortable and I actually look forward to going to bed for a change. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a new mattress.

i wish i knew how heavy this thing was. its heavier than my bike and was pretty difficult to get up the stairs into my apartment, i think my old mattress is 1/3 the weight if that. its a good thing it comes well wrapped and vaccum sealed because UPS did a number on the box but i can understand how that happened. its crazy heavy. they probably punched and kicked it a few times just to get out the frustration. that said, it inflated in minuites to full size and looks very impressive. i will not test it out until i give it the wait period even tho it looks fully inflated. all the reviews said this bed was as good or better than the more expensive brand names like serta and i thought hearing that a few times was a good endorsment and i also like the quality of amazon products and they seem to try to keep prices down which i appretiate so it made a difficult decision easier and i think i made the right move. the pillowtop doesnt look too soft, i prefer a medium bed but im honestly not very picks and after sleeping on my old matress way longer than i should have this should be fantastic. looks good, no smells to report (since thats a common concern with these beds), heavy as hell (reccomend 2 people moving it unless you want to get a real workout) Yay Amazon! We had a "High End" mattress that we paid over $4k for and after a little over a year, we are thouroughly dissatisfied with it and feel like we made a mistake. We bought one of these in a queen size for our camper and were a bit startled by how good it really felt. After months of trying to get the "high end" company to work with us to replace or refund our original matress, we gave up and just bought one of these. We have been sleeping so well since we started sleeping on it. It only took about 2 hours for it to fully expand and it just does what it should-provide good support that is not too firm. For the price, we cannot complein about anything and felt like we got a product that is worth twice the price. You cannot put a price on sleep quality and suffering with poor quality of sleep was what drove us to pay so much for our original mattress choice. This mattress just makes us feel silly about that decision. Kudos!!

Update: it’s been about 2 years and the mattress is total junk now. It’s transformed into a soft, squishy, back-destroying piece of junk. It’s lost all support and comfort. Wow, what a waste. I’m already shopping for a new mattress again. Don’t waste your money if you think 2 years is unacceptable for the life of a mattress. Original review: I was mega beyond stressed out while shopping for a new mattress. It’s so hard to determine what you’re actually going to get. This is my 4th bed in a box, and luckily for me it turned out to be a good one. I am replacing a 5 month old Nectar mattress that was THE WORST BED I’VE HAD IN MY LIFE. This amazing mattress literally reduced my back pain from a 8 to a 6 in one night. I would describe the bed as firm, but in the right way. You sink in the correct amount, but still get that support that you need. It’s not a hot mattress either. My last three mattresses were all memory foam and they were awful, I will never get an all-foam bed again. This bed is a hybrid so you get a lot of airflow without that awful trapping the heat thing that memory foam is know for. It also FEELS so much better not having that suck you in, stuck in quicksand thing that all-foam mattresses do. This bed is comfortable, supportive, airy. I’m insanely happy it turned out to be good and I do recommend it. For reference, I’m 6’ tall, 165 pounds, 3 herniated discs and have spinal stenosis. I NEEDED a better bed and this has been beneficial for me.
