Good headphones
I've had these for four years and they're still working fine. Very comfortable. They plug into my work laptop. I've recorded videos with them and the sound comes through fine.

Comfort and quality
Was looking for a lightweight headphone replacement with retractable mike and settled on the Logitech High-performance USB Headset H540. It did not disappoint. The fit is comfortable and can be worn for hours without any discomfort. The ear pieces contour well to the ear and angle slightly inward to add to the comfort. The padding is soft, but also allows the ears to breath (not ear encompassing). Ear height to to head arc/rest adjustments are as easy as a slide click away. Sound quality is excellent for gaming, YouTube, podcasts, music, movies, Discord, Zoom, etc. with crisp dynamic range, however, it could use more Bass support. The flip down mic with mute (lighted indicator an added plus) is equally excellent, clear and concise. The fact that the mic can be flipped up and hidden when not in use is a great design. It is very lightweight and not bulky at all. If you want a single ear with and ear free configuration, the left ear can even be positioned off ear without a problem and still be comfortable. Recommended.

Outstanding quality and comfort
I've spent the past year battling with a high end Bluetooth headset, Windows, and Skype in an effort to enjoy the freedom of wireless telephony in my office. Despite Herculean efforts, the solution proved unreliable and to have marginal outgoing sound quality. I finally admitted defeat and switched to using a wired headset. I chose the Logitech H540 several weeks ago, and have been extremely satisfied with its performance. Advantages: + Microphone quality: Predictably, my voice sounds better over a wired headset than a Bluetooth one. Still, the number of compliments I've received from callers on the other end of the line is staggering. I'm sure that some of this has to do with the relative difference between my old and new headsets. Even in absolute terms, though, some test recordings that I've made in Skype and Audacity demonstrate that the H540 sounds amazing. + Speaker quality: The quality of the sound that I hear through the earphones is as good as the sound that the microphone produces. Callers are clear and loud enough to be heard with ease. Even my Bluetooth headset sounded good, but the H540 surpasses its quality in every regard. + Hardware controls: The volume and mute buttons on the right-hand earphone are large and easy-to-reach. Button response is positive and immediate. + Lighted mute indicator: An obvious, bright red mute indicator light is present inline with the USB cord. The light hangs at my chest level, and is easy to see while wearing the headset. + Comfortable: I spend around 6 hours each workday on the phone, with calls frequently lasting multiple hours at a time. At that duration, all of my headsets - including the H540, a one-ear over-the-head unit, my cell phone Bluetooth headset, and even my audiophile earbuds - all hurt to some degree. Overall, though, the H540 is exceedingly comfortable and is truly wearable all day. The headset is light, and provides just enough pressure to stay securely on my head. The earphones have generous, soft padding, as does the part that goes over my head. + Setup: Setup on Windows 7 was a breeze. Actually, I didn't do anything to set up the headset, other than just plug it into my USB port. Windows automatically detected the make/model, installed the appropriate driver, and Skype automatically added the H540 as my default communication device. Disadvantages: I only have two minor gripes, one of which may just be a limit of the technology, rather than the H540, itself: - Thick cord: The USB cord is pretty thick, and sometimes tugs at the headset when I turn my head or lean back in my chair. The cord sticks straight down from the right earphone, too, which tends to snag on my collared sweaters (which I wear often in the winter, in an effort to keep the thermostat down in the office). Compared to the super-thin, pliable USB cable on my mouse, for example, the H540's cord seems unnecessarily hefty. Maybe it's girth is required for shielding or longevity? - Short cord / plug directly to computer: The H540 user guide advises plugging the headset straight into the computer, and not into a USB hub. I use this headset primarily with my laptop, which is often docked in an OEM docking station. When I plug the H540 directly into an available USB port on the laptop, it works perfectly. When I use a USB port on the dock, it works, but both the incoming and outgoing sound is very quiet. The cord is relatively short, especially after having spent the last 1+ years wandering around my office with the Bluetooth headset. Having to plug it into an inconvenient port directly on my laptop forces me to sit up (which is probably good) and sit near to my computer. In an effort to mitigate this issue, I purchased 32 foot, powered, USB extension cable. Unfortunately, when connected through this cable, the headset audio is unintelligible. Effectively, the extension cable is a one-port USB hub and, as indicated in the H540 user manual, USB hubs are not supported. This may be a limit of USB 2.0 headset technology, in general; I don't know enough to say for sure. But, it is a shame to be on such a short leash. Despite the two small complaints cited above - both of which are attributable to using probably any wired headset - I recommend the Logitech H540 headset without hesitation, both as a great product and a great value for the money.

A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE
i recently bought all five levels of Rosetta Stone to improve my Italian. The package came with a cheap looking headset. Rosetta Stone is a language learning program that requires you to both listen to a foreign language and speak it back. My language learning has been handicapped by my own hearing issues and the fact that I wear hearing aids. If I listen to an unfamiliar foreign word, I have to be able to hear it clearly, and that's been a struggle in face to face conversation, to say nothing of straining to clearly hear words in an unfamiliar language through the filter of a computer headset. The headset that came with the Rosetta Stone CDs produced muffled, unintelligible speech. I hauled out an older Logitech headset that I'd always thought worked fairly decently with Skype calls, but it actually wasn't much better. The Italian words spoken on the CDs still sounded like the speaker was distant and hard to hear. Both the Logitech and Rosetta Stone headsets made my hearing aids squeal with so much feedback that I had to take them out, making it even harder for me to hear. I started looking for options and found the Logitech h540 headest on Amazon Prime. The reviews were impressive and in two days I was plugging them into a USB Port on my computer. I pulled up the Rosetta Stone and plunged back into the world of spoken Italian. I was stunned. I am still grinning.I just finished a lesson and scored 100%. I could hear every word as if a native speaker was sitting right across from me. The clarity of speech was startling. It was like I had somehow gotten my 20-year old hearing back. I even left my hearing aids in and there was not a peep or hint of feedback. YIPPEE! I threw my old headset into the garbage. This one is a winner! It even has a mute button and a =/- volume control right on the headband where it's easy to reach. I often make Skype calls to relatives in Germany and this truly excellent headset is going to make a huge improvement in call quality there too.I am happy to recommend it to you.

DISAPPOINTED it does not last.
The headset fits nice, works great, ear muff stay in good shape, good noise cancel, but does NOT LAST. I have had mine 10 months and the plug into the laptop, the USB, wears out. I have also had the mute button on it go out from time to time which is on the side of the earpad. Mine is usually plugged in for 3-10 days in a row, then I pack it up to travel, so it gets a standard aoutn of unplugging but it should not wear out this fast. DISAPPOINTED.

The best headphones you can get anywhere near the price range
Have tried many types of headphones and these ones I used as a stop gap between pairs of 60-100 dollar pairs of headphones are the ones I keep returning to. For sound quality most headphones don't start making a marked increase above these until at least the 80 dollar mark, likewise for the included mike. The only thing this headset doesn't accel at for its price class is noise cancelation but that is actually a plus for me. I like to hear things around me in case someone is trying to get my attention, or my phone rings, or there is some kind of emergency. Even though it does little to mute outside sound it does not diminish sound quality. They are not the best headphones out there but they are far and away the best for the price.

Major downgrade from previous model H530
Sadly, my previous logitech headset, the H530, stopped functioning. I really liked that headset. Unfortunately, this new version of the headset falls far, far short of the H530. Whats wrong with the headset: - Thick, stiff cable that rubs up against everything. Since the cable is attached to the side with the microphone, every little movement or vibration is transmitted to the microphone. You must be absolutely still when you talk or the other end will hear thump, thump, thump. - Mute and volume controls transmit a loud thunk into the microphone when they are pressed. The previous model had the switches and cable attached to the opposite side of the microphone for good reason. - The microphone does a poor job of filtering out background noises like computer fans. - Voices are not dynamically equalized very well. The previous model had a switch for selecting voice mode. This one does not and any dynamic equalization that it might claim to do simply doesnt work well. Voice comm has way too much base for clarity and it can be hard to pick out the sound of voices when there is background interference on the other end. Its fatiguing after a while. - The sideband feature( transmits a small portion of what say back into the speakers ) must have a delay or something because the sound of my own voice feels very disorientating. This is a good feature to have on a headset that snugly fits the ears because your brain expects to hear what you are saying. But if your voice is delayed too much or the tone is altered too much due to bad equalization the result sounds very wrong. I normally love Logitech products. I have purchased many over the years because their product designers put *thought* into their designs. How they could have gone so far backwards from the H530 to the H540 is mind boggling and I hope its not the beginning of a new trend in how Logitech approaches products. This is a terrible voice communication headset and I would strongly advise anyone reading this to look elsewhere. I ended up purchasing a Plantronics blackwire headset and I am very happy I did so.

So comfy! Great sound :)
I bought this for work. The headphones are *really* comfortable. I do wear glasses, so around the 2 hour mark, i have to take the headphones off and readjust. I start to feel a dull ache where my glasses meet the headphones on the side of my head. The volume adjust and the mute on the right side are great features. My favorite feature, though, is the boom mic. It tucks between the earphone and "headband" part perfectly. It looks well protected in its place, and I can lay the headphones perfectly flat. It's also great that the mic is not obnoxiously or noticeably in front of my mouth when using it. One review I read said that you can hear yourself in the headphones. That happened to me the first time (30 minutes) I used it. Since then, I've worked 17 hours and with fast and slow internet connects (other person, not me). I haven't heard myself in a delayed loop back since that first time. Now, it's crystal clear. I have no idea what made it loop back at first. The cord is a little stiff- the bends from storing it during shipping have not straightened out yet. It hasn't gotten in my way, though. I hate Windows 10. But it's on my desktop...and the headohones work with all the applications. (Off - topic - don't be fooled by Skype Preview or whatever it is on Windows 10. It's completely worthless. Stick with traditional Skype so that you can use all the features. Chances are good that tbe person in the other side of the camera has access to traditional Skype anyway.)

Very comfortable, but leather will disintegrate after 5 years
This is the second time I got this headset. Got the same one last time 6 years ago. Lately the connection to the laptop became weak and the leather started disintegrating. But otherwise absolutely love this headset. That is why I re-ordered, to have something for the next 6 years.
