10 Pcs Safety Whistle Marine Whistle Plastic Whistles with Lanyard for Emergency

I lead a bunch of Cub Scouts and they all need to carry the "six essentials" (water bottle, whistle, first aid kit, etc.) when on hikes or other activities. Several scouts had existing whistles with peas, but they weren't particularly loud and were little better than toys. Others didn't have whistles at all, so I ordered a bunch of these (the price for a 10-pack is very reasonable!) to hand out to them all. They're reasonably priced, durable, have no moving parts or pea, are easy to keep in a backpack or in a pocket, and are intensely loud and piercing when blown sufficiently hard. If blown more gently, they make a medium-volume "peep" sound, but if blown harder they're painfully loud. They're perfect for a lost scout to blow on to attract attention. The scouts were all super happy to get whistles, but the parents giving me a look which can only be described as "the burning hatred of ten thousand desert suns". That's when I knew I made the right choice. I apologize for nothing.

These work well and are very light weight. The attached cord comes in handy to either wear around the neck, or fasten to a lifejacket, backpack, etc. The whistle isn't the loudest, but makes enough noise to get the job done.

I got these for myself and friends for when we go skiing and snowboarding. Since we love tree skiing sometimes we end up getting separated and having these in our jackets gives us some piece of mind in case one of use gets into trouble. It was critical for me that there were no moving parts in the whistle, since these can freeze up. For the price these are a great value and produce a lot of sound for their size. I'm knocking off one star because the lanyard is annoying and I've had one come loose.

Perfect safety device for skiing off-piste. Keep it my ski jacket. Hopefully I’ll never have to use it. Also have one in my life jacket while kayaking.

I want my grandsons to be able to get my attention (and visa-versa) in the forest. These do the job elegantly; easy to find in most surroundings, easy to keep close (hang it from the lanyard or clip it to your clothes), light and small enough for ultimate convenience, cheap enough to share with friends and to replace when lost, and loud enough to signal even at a distance. A near perfect tool.
