How do you turn on the regulator?

The regulator is factory set and has nothing to activate beyond connecting it to the stove and to the gas cannisters. Once the regulator and gas can connection is complete, you start the gas flow by turning the burner knobs on the front of the stove. Ignite the gas at the same time by turning the igniter knob (usually also on the front of the stove), or by holding a lot match next to the burner.

is there an extension hose available for 1lb tanks? for example a 5ft hose that connects from the regulator to the tank to sit the tank on the ground?

yes, actually there ARE extension/adapter hoses available- but they are designed to be able to use larger (5 to 30 lb.) standard RV style propane tanks (POL high pressure fitting, reverse threaded). A very cost effective, worthwhile upgrade actually. Especially in these new zombie apocalypse disaster era we are now living in.

The model no. is missing the three last numbers (700).  My model number is 5430B700, will this fit my stove?
