Perfect Fit and Function but PRICEY
The fit and function is like an Apple Product. Very expensive but it works and it works very well. 2 Pairs / 4 platemates of of 1.25lbs plates (2.5lbs per pair) will run you $100. $100 for 5 pounds total of weights is expensive. Is it worth it? For me yes. Adding micro increments of weight extremely fast and without hassle is very convenient and foolproof. Magnets at times seem too strong but it’s better than not strong enough. Fits well with Ironmasters adjustable dumbells and Kabuki Kyubells. Will stick on anything steel or iron. If there’s a thin coating of urethane, it will probably work as well but I havnt tried. If you think you can DIY your own magnets on micro plates…. Think about how long those adhesive magnets will work time over time again after. Eventually that adhesive will peel off. Just buy once cry once and you’ll have these micro progressive overload plates forever

Great idea, but pricey!
I was pleasantly surprised at these. I have 5 and 2.5 plates for my DB/BB sets, but wanted something to be able to increment at a total of 2.5 # when I was feeling my way to a higher rep weight, since my min reps for any particular exercise is 15 (over multiple sets!) and the max (to date) is 48. While these little gems are really effective because they (a) do the job of allowing a small increment, (b) are made well and will likely hold up over a long period, and (c) are magnetic, they are rather pricey! If the manufacturer would reduce them to some degree, I'd probably have another pair and would even consider giving to a few other people I know who would use them as I do.

Works great but magnets are too strong for such a small amount of weight.
I used to own a set of these 1-1/4 lb Platemates some years ago. I ended up selling them with other equipment when I was moving. I really liked them! I bought these to attach to my Powerblock dumbbells which are great but for some reason, each 10 pound increment allows you to increment 2.5 or 5 lbs but then jumps directly to the next 10 lb selection. So, for example you can do 20, 22.5, 25, and 30. When doing a dumbbell bench, that means you're jumping 10 lbs which can be too much. The only reason I knocked off a star is the original version I owned, they had 3 smaller separate strong magnets on the back side of each one. More than strong enough but still easy enough to remove. This new design, the entire circle is a big magnet on the back. They are nearly impossible to remove! I have to attach them so only half of the magnet is in contact with the metal of the dumbbell. That way I can more easily get a good grip and remove them without too much struggle. Not sure why they changed what I felt was the perfect design?

Customer service still counts for something
Given the high price, I was on the fence about buying these. I wanted to be able to use my Powerblock Exps with a weight that ended in 2.5 pounds. I emailed the manufacturer (which I understand to also be the primary seller of these on Amazon under a slightly different name) with my concerns and they replied in less than 20 minutes, allaying any worries I had about them. The plates are fantastic! I read some reviews about the weak magnetic grip. Mine on the other hand are so strong that, I am a little embarrassed to admit, towards the end of my workout I actually have a hard time prying them off with my fingers. I've also taken to using them to make my weights end in 7.5 pounds. For example, with the Powerblocks, if you want to lift 57.5 pounds, you would set the weight stack at 60 and remove one of the interior 2.5 pound removable weights. Taking out only one of the 2.5 pound weights, however, makes the dumbbell unbalanced and awkward to handle. So what I've started doing is removing both of the interior 2.5 pound weights and then attaching the PlateMates to the dumbbell, which makes the dumbbell balanced!

Kind of expensive as just a small weight. Cheap as a magnet.
These work well. They have enough magnetic force to stay attached to the rubber coated metal weights at my gym and the bare iron ones at home but they can be pulled off without excess effort. I would like to have a good way to carry them to the gym and keep them together. I use a small shaving kit bag now but I'm looking for a creative way to hold them on a belt or something so I can wear them to the gym instead of carrying them.

Perfect to use with Nuobells!
I bought these to use on my Set of Nuobell adjustable dumbbells. As you can see from the picture they fit perfectly on them and the magnetic connection is strong. The plates themselves are coated with a rubber-feeling material so I’m also not concerned about them scratching my dumbbells. Nuobells adjust from 5-80lbs in increments of 5lbs so the PlateMates have effectively doubled the amount of static weight dumbbells that my adjustable set replaces - they are on the pricey side but given how much Nuobells themselves already cost represent an excellent value. I couldn’t be more pleased with these magnetic plates.

Wasted my money on this one
I can't really use them at all. They don't fit on the Olympic barbells because the donut hole is too smal and don't stick to the Dumbbells at my gym either. I go to LA fitness and it doesn't work anywhere for me. Wasted my money on this one. :(

Works, but could definitely use improvement
The hole is not large enough to fit on an Olympic bar. You have to use the magnets to attach them to other weights, however, they do not stick well to rubber coated Olympic weights, like the VTX series. I have to attach them to the bar itself. That works OK, but they really should just make the hole about 1/4" bigger to let them slide onto the bar.

A must have with adjustable dumbbells
I bought these when I purchased a set of Nuobell dumbbells so that I could have a more gradual increase weight wise. These are excellent and work really well, extremely happy with purchase.

Added weight you can stick anywhere
I already had the 2.5 pound version of these so I knew what to expect. I thought these would be much smaller but they aren't. The size is about the same in diameter but they are not as thick if that makes sense. The magnets are just as strong and the cover seems just as durable. I love these because you can really place them on any painted cast iron surface. I essentially use them on kettle bells either on the flat bottom part or on one of the flat sides. It is not recommended for kettle bells but it works great. They stay in place through a set and don't move an inch. They could become a hazard if someone would swing the weights very violently or bang them together but who does that ? They are expensive for what they are but they are a niche product and if you need them the alternatives are not easy to come by.

It doesn't hold on the barbells
