Typically graduated cylinders if milky white are polypropylene or more likely (copoly polypro) also called polypropylene, a polypropylene/polyethylene of some type so compatible with a wide range of chemicals and autoclavable. The variations or PP and PE are high molecular weight hydrocarbon polyolefins therefore non toxic and non contaminating.

Have the measurement inconsistencies people are commenting on been corrected?

The set I purchased in August 2019 had measurement inconsistencies. The set is excellent for introducing measurement to kids, giving them practice reading different scales, and getting a general idea of amounts. However, they cannot be used for any experiments requiring accuracy to the nearest milliliter. The set is very sturdy, but because it's plastic, a meniscus does not form. It is transparent, but not as clear as glass, which makes it difficult to read unless the liquid is colored.

Any suggestions on keeping the print from wearing off?

I found the ink smeared when we used cooking oil. Maybe try avoiding measuring oil and washing them separately.
