The most popular RIVAL blaster among my friends
I own dozens of RIVAL blasters because I like to host group games, and they always seem to gravitate towards this one. I have four Takedowns, and people LOVE using this blaster. My personal favorite is the Apollo, but something about the Takedown's pump-action priming handle and breech loading mechanism just appeals to people. I have had one Takedown break from extreme overuse (the priming handle gets stuck in the rear position), but it's overall a very reliable blaster.Don't be confused: this is not actually a shotgun. It fires a single RIVAL round at a time. It's possible to use the jam-clearing feature to load a second one that will fire simultaneously, but you lose a ton of power and distance. It's not an really effective use of the blaster. The Takedown is compatible with all RIVAL-type ammo. I've used official RIVAL rounds, X-Shot Meteor ammo, Accu-Rival rounds, and four different imitation ammo brands. The Takedown is a true workhorse. As Coop772 (youtuber) pointed out, the priming handle on this shotgun is slick. There's nothing for your fingers to really grip, so you have to use additional finger strength to compensate...it's not really a problem if you're just shooting solo cups at home, but if you're playing any sort of competitive game your hand could start cramping after a while. I put stacks of red duct tape strips on the priming handles to prevent this. You really can't do much better than this one for the price. It's just meat and potatoes awesome. Enjoy!

One of the best Nerf Guns I've ever bought
My brothers and I have had a lot of nerf guns over the years but this is by far one of the best. These "Rival" nerf balls shoot so much further and faster than the darts, it makes nerf wars much more fun. It's almost like playing airsoft or paintball but safe for indoors and they don't really hurt. The real advantages of this nerf gun are that it shoots so far and so fast and that it has a pump priming action. Some nerf guns have a slide on tip that you have to pull to prime but you can shoot so much faster with the pumping action. Personally I don't love the electric fly-wheel nerf guns because they make a fair bit of noise while they are on even when you are not shooting them. This is like the ideal nerf gun. And it's pretty light and compact too.The downsides are that it can only hold 8 nerf balls at a time....but that's still a good number honestly. And then the balls do tend to curve away from their target after 40 or so feet but they're foam balls, that's to be expected. Other than those minor complaints, it's an excellent nerf gun. My roommates are going to regret stealing my duck....

Very good!you will have so much fun with it!
This was a gifted to me and it is so much fun to play with and target practice.I’d say it shoots at least 70 ft.Although you will lose balls fast.So I recommend you buy a refill pack.It is the most accurate gun I’ve ever had.It scares people in wars to.I’ll make this shorter by listing pros and cons so you won’t have to spend a lot of time reading this. Pros:it is very intimidating,it is easy to load and shoot,it holds 8 rounds and it is very accurate. Cons:there are none unless you are unlucky and get a bad one.

great for target practice and nerf wars.
this is an all-around great blaster. it hits hard, shoots accurately, and shoots fast. The only "problem" is that the pump handle needs quite a bit of force to get the shots loaded, and has a quite hefty trigger pull. The 8 rival balls that come with it aren't enough to last through the durration of a nerf war and tend to get lost easily, so I recommend buying extras if you plan on using it alot.

Shoots Tried and True, Has nice weight to it..
So, one if the main complaints of Nerf Rivals is that they are hard to prime. I totally agree with this, BUT if you want un-motorized power the gun will most likely require some strength to prime until Nerf technology advances. So keep this in mind if buying for young kids. It doesn't bother me cause I am pretty...uh...old..hahaAccuracy. OK, let's keep in mind that this is a toy that shoots toy ammo and not some precision firearm. However if you know how to aim a firearm, fake or otherwise, this thing is actually pretty accurate. Not just in lining up a shot but if you can manage to hold the gun in the same position and aim (even without using the sight) and fire rounds one after another, they pretty much hit the same spot consistently. Cool!Jamming ,miss fires and breaking the gun: So if you listen to coop772, one of the Nerf "experts" he does admit that he has gotten misfires and/or broken a few Nerf Rivals by not priming the gun all the way. I have not destroyed a Nerf gun yet, but with this Rival and others I have gotten misfires cause I, for sure, did not prime all the way. So most if not all occur cause of user error. Of course getting a defective gun can happen too. That's about it! I recommend this gun!

Such a great gun wort it and very accurate
This is an awesome gun there is nothing bad about it other people say the pump action spring loaded priming handle is slick and I guess it kind of is but it does not really matter because it does not take much force to prime back and the handle grip is so comfortable and it holds 8 rounds and it is single fire and I think that this would be a complete worth while buy and I think that it is so awesome and thank you rival for making this gun it is so accurate for like 60 feet and so fun for battles and also for target practice.

Fun Nerf Shotgun!
This gun is amazing. I grew up with some of the first nerf guns in the 80s and 90s. They have came a long way since then. The yellow balls shoot far and fast. Im also a fan of shotguns so this is a cool combo of tactical and nerf. They are a great price for $15 each. It holds 8 rounds and is fast to reload. You can pick up a few and play tag or capture the flag with some buddies. I highly recommend this gun to any one who enjoys nerf.
