IRWIN Drill And Tap Set, 13-Piece (80185)

Very simple set of taps and matched drill bits. For someone who doesn't need a full set of taps and dies, these are an adequate set of common, yankee sized threads. Have used them off and on for aa bit over a month now. No surprises; working adequately for my needs in brass, aluminum, and sintered cast iron.

I use these frequently. The packaging takes up a bit of room in the tool case, but they cut well, have not broken yet and the plastic keeps them organized.

Bought these taps just a week or so ago but I've already used them a number of times. I'm pleased with the quality. I've tapped 1/8" steel and thinner with ease. The taps cut right through a full quarter turn at a time. No fuss at all. My only gripe is NO CASE!! Would have gladly paid a few extra bucks not to keep these in a tooth brush case!

The taps work well, however, the wrench will not work the smallest tap included in the kit

The tap holder does not hold the smaller sizes. It strips rather than tightening (#8 -32). No big deal for me as I have other holders but I expected more and it might be a hassle for you if you don't. It says taps are made in USA and being really tired of the ones made of chineaseum -that is the main reason I got these. The drill bits are just ok but I like having the matched pairs instead of searching for the right bit. Tip: Don't discard the container. It is a holder of sorts and will keep the right bit paired with the right tap as the plastic is sized for each. If you lose this you need to tape them together or try to read tiny numbers.

The items come in a disposable plastic packaging, not in a case as shown in this picture. The disposable packaging has the chart which notes the corresponding pilot drill bit for each tap bit. The pilot bits do not have their sizes etched on them. Not a huge deal as you can just find the pilot bit that's smaller than the tap, but you will have to find your own case. I ordered 4 sets of these as I am in the process of training 3 technicians, and I am predicting a lot of lost bits in the near future. First tap I used in aluminum worked like a charm though!

This product is NOT sold as advertised. The description says "Includes plastic storage case" and I did not get that case!... It is a trick to sell the product! I saw one other review with same comment. Had I known I would I bought a different one with better price.
