MET-Rx Big 100 Colossal Protein Bars, Crispy Apple Pie Meal Replacement Bars, 9 Count

My favorite flavors of the MET-RX 100 bars are crispy apple and blueberry. They store well and hold their flavor and texture which is scrumptious. The delicious when fresh chocolate varieties go stale when stored at room temp. I’m not a body builder, I’m an old lady who doesn’t like to cook. With their calorie and protein content Met-RX bars are a great meal replacement with an apple or red pepper slices, so I eat 1 or 2 weekly. As a meal that I don’t have to cook they’re a good value.

Tastes great and works great for a quick lunch.

These MET-Rx protein bars are SO GOOD. The crispy apple pie flavor is my favorite, although the other flavors I have tried are very good as well (especially the caramel churro). I really can't recommend these enough. They make a great replacement meal (for me, breakfast) every day, but you could definitely eat one as a snack between meals - it will fill you up, but seems to digest quickly (at least for me, everyone's different), but that's a good thing as I can have my protein shake just a couple hours later. These bars are high in calories which are great if you're bulking or maintaining. I probably wouldn't recommend them during a cutting phase, although if you know what you're doing with your nutrition I suppose you could make it work. These are my go-to for protein bars and I will settle for nothing else!

Protein bars have gone through changes over the years, as some people are looking for low carb, or perhaps 'plant' protein (which makes little sense to me, they simply are incomplete in AA composition). Years ago I used to use some of the original MetRx bars. They were nutrition dense, hard to chew, and not the tastiest things around. My old standby bars keep going up in price & I was looking around. Seeing the MetRx name, I was curious. This is a 30g protein bar that also has substantial carbohydrate. What the low-carb folks do not understand is that muscles REALLY need to reload glycogen (a storage polymer of glucose) after working out. That means take in some carbs! This bar tastes more like desert than nutrition. Yes, there is a good bit of sugar, but again POST WORKOUT that is not bad! It provides a READILY AVAILABLE supply of glucose to your muscles. These bars are expensive, but as a meal-replacement especially after working out, it seems worth it. Also realize that people are different (I am speaking as a physician), and their response to various diets, medications, etc will vary. I am one who does not function well with restricted carbs in my diet, I tend towards hypoglycemia. Years back (while competing as an endurance athlete) I went through a phase of low carb intake. I could not train hard enough, and it clearly was not compatible with intense races. So THIS bar FOR THIS ATHLETE is an excellent choice. YMMV

Great taste! And good protein amounts but the price can be high!

I've tried many different protein bars. These are just the right size for meal replacement it's got a nice higher carb content. The ingredients are not bad and the freshness stays perfect. I like the Apple, I prefer it over the chocolate brownie which is too rich for me. The bar is well made and sturdy and does not fall apart when you take a bite nor does it melt. I buy these by subscription so I always have them in my office.

This is tied with their church flavor for my favorite protein bar. Maximum protein, genuinely appetizing so it's easy to eat, and it serves as a meal replacement when my appetite is poor. They're pricey but they're worth it and the price on the case of 9 is a good deal compared to buying them individually. I buy 3 boxes every month so I can have one a day for most of the month.

My teen son is trying to gain muscle so has to keep up his calories, and also needs food and energy after school but before practice. He takes one in his backpack everyday. They are large bars, and imo the best tasting protein bar on the market.
