Game changer for me
This is a great product. Being able to steam things in the microwave has been a game changer for me. I steam potatoes all the time. The capacity is good—I have steamed four Yukon Gold potatoes at once, and it can probably hold almost twice that amount. It’s quicker and easier than steaming food in a pot on the stove and is easier to clean. It works great except it can be a little tricky to snap it shut. The trick is to push down on the red flap as you snap it closed. It feels reasonably well made (it is plastic) and I hope it is durable. I’m concerned about the locking flaps breaking off eventually but I’ve been using it for a few weeks now with no problems. Even so, I think it would work fine without the locking flaps. I’m very pleased with my purchase.

HUGE help in the kitchen for my family!!!
I got the Systema Microwave Steamer a few months ago and I absolutely love it! It has a good capacity for me and would likely have a great capacity for most people/families (I'm vegan so I eat a ton of veggies). I use it nearly every day at least twice and it cooks like a dream! The only time it's ever not large enough for me is when I'm doing food prep for a few days, other than that it's a perfect size. As for the reviews that say they can't get the lid to snap down on the sides, whenever I have an issue where I can't get it to snap I just spin it a 1/4 turn and it will snap. I have never had it not snap at all. I think that the steamer is not perfectly square (even though it looks square) and the lid just needs to be turned when you can't get it to snap. ***This may not work for everyone, as your steamer may need you to figure out exactly which lid side matches up to which base side or yours just may not fit right at all. I am only basing this on my experience with my steamer and I hope it helps others.*** I also recommend being careful with the steamer when you remove it from the microwave because the steamer itself will be hot and the steam will be hot either from the steam release on the lid or from removal of the the lid. Use hot pads, oven mitts, or a towel of some kind and stay safe. I say this merely because a lot of people don't have experience with steaming food and may not be aware of how hot steam can be, especially if they don't cook a lot or have been in the kitchen helping someone else cook. If you are in the market for a steamer, this is a very good choice and, if you choose to buy it, I hope you will be as happy with it as I am :)

Great, but with design flaws
I have had this steamer for close to 10 years. It's a workhorse. Steaming is the best way to cook vegetables, to prepare vegetables for stirfry or crudites, and to reheat frozen vegetables. Microwave steaming is easier to control than stovetop, is energy efficient, and doesn't heat up the kitchen. In fact with many vegetables, you don't even need to add water when microwaving--they self-steam, preserving all their vegetably goodness. The Sistema steamer is sturdy and about as large as it could be to fit in microwave ovens and be easily stored. I use it multiple times every week. It's reasonably priced. You should get it! However, I'll also admit to two frustrations. First, don't expect the snaps to work as easily as in the video. Yes, it is possible to lock all four down, but it takes some maneuvering and pushing since at least one isn't quite aligned. This was true even when the steamer was new. Luckily, one misaligned snap doesn't affect steaming. Second, the steamer basket-insert has a big prong right in the middle of it--something that's not obvious in any of the images. Like the metal steamers meant for steaming in pots--maybe it is meant to make it easier to remove the steamer basket? But who does that? It's easy enough just to lever up the basket and lift it out. Or for more vegetables, just to dump them out into a strainer. Anyhow, the central prong means that you can't steam anything big and flat (a piece of fish, for example) or anything on a plate. Major design flaw! Eventually, I cut off the prong. Which was hard, since the steamer is STURDY (see above). And it left a hole that corn and peas can fall through. <sigh> Sistema, you have a great product--correct this design flaw!

Meet My New Lunch Box!
I bought two of these from Amazon and they've replaced my lunch box I used to carry around. I've been trying to simplify what I carry to work and this has been what I have been searching for. Here's why I like it so much -- it has so many uses: 1. It's big enough to hold smaller containers of food, so if you like to assemble your food before heating, it's roomy enough 2. When I don't want to do a hot lunch, it doubles as a regular sandwich/chips/snack/drink lunch box (it's sturdy) 3. I still have the option of steaming items I've never had a problem packing wet foods (the seal seems pretty solid if you line it up correctly) and I usually will hydrate my ramen with cold water before I get to work and then heat it up when it's lunch time. It's large enough for a "big" lunch for one person with room for snacks. The nice thing about it if you are using this as a food carrier like I am, that there's more surface area for the food to heat, so I am not waiting for ever to heat something up in the microwave. I've dropped it few times on the cement floor at work, and it's none worse for wear and nothing has broken. The engineers at Sistema have really put a lot of effort into designing this product and it shows. I might not use it as a steamer all of the time, but now that I am moving to a more minimalist lifestyle, I like the fact this container is multipurpose. Perfectly steamed!
Received this yesterday a day early. We have Prime, ordered it Saturday morning and it was at our door Sunday afternoon. My husband has never encountered a veggie steamer and was pleased with the overall design and ease of use. We have a couple Sistema salad bowls and they work great and are designed similarly to this product. The flip lock closures on the sides are golden. We filled the bottom with a cup of water, any more will touch your veggies. We cooked a yellow squash and it came out perfectly. My husband was shocked at the quality of not only using fresh produce but the vast difference between the frozen veggie steam bags from the grocery store. What was great is that we can put only the quantity of veggies that we need since my daughter is 5 and refuses veggies, so it's just my husband and myself to eat them and we usually have soggy leftovers from frozen veggies. I was able to take the container right out of the microwave with bare hands on the tabs at the corner. I flipped up all four locking tabs and was able to use two of them to open it and deflect the steam from myself. These are easy to clean, hold up well and can definitely go in the dishwasher. I don't think it came with instructions, but my husband found a cooking guide for this specific product and told me you can cook a lasagna for 6 in it.

Not thoughtfully designed
It does the basic job. It will steam vegetables, although unevenly (as the manual recognizes), because the center receives less steam. The construction is very awkward. The hinges are difficult to close, there are no carrying handles, and worst of all, the central stem is difficult to grab. The stem tapers off and has nothing to grab at the top to stop your fingers from sliding off. And slide off they will, because this is a steamer, and steam makes things moist and slippery (surprise!).

Hey I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH I ❤️ THIS!
Use to review products, but as I get older it's the last thing I want to do. However, the Sistema Heat & Eat Microwaveable Food cooker is something I use everyday . . . Fresh spinach, asparagus, zucchini, Brussels sprouts, etc. Big plus no pan to clean, especially since NO DISHWASHER! Had to sell my house & move into Senior Apt. All I do is rinse it off in hot water. Mine even had a Crack in one handlè; am I gonna return it & bitch? NO! I have super glue & I'm not an idiot; wanted to use it NOW, and it still gets 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ótima qualidade. RECOMENDO
