DOOM Eternal: Collector's Edition - PC

I'll start by reviewing the actual items that are included in this edition then the game itself The helmet- this helmet is wearable and feels comfortable. Which I was not expecting. I didn't wear it longer than 10 minutes. (I guess I'm not a true slayer). The helmet has a lot of detail on it and every fan will truly appreciate this and it looks great on the shelf with other gaming statues/figures The steelbook- this has a nice artwork on the case. There is no disc for the PC version, rather a paper disc with the redemption code on it. There is also nice inside artwork that you will appreciate but not really look at for long. It also contains the Season Pass/ deluxe DLC content Artwork book- It's more of a lore book. It explains the origins of the Super Shotguna and has plenty of lore. If you care a lot about the lore, you'll definitely appreciate this. I didn't care much for it but the illustrations are something worth noting. There is also a poster that would look great above a shelf where you have you have your DVDs/ blu rays, or statues The game itself- id software has outdone themselves. This game was supposed to come out in November 2019 but got delayed by 4 months. It was definitely worth the wait and by far my personal game of the year. The game is a puzzle shooter in the way that you need to utlilze your resources and timing in which you fire a certain type of weapon. For instance, you shoot an RPG 3 times at a large Baron and freeze him then fast fire between your super shotgun and ballista. The soundtrack is incredible. Mick Gordon has outdone himself from DOOM 2016. It gets more intense as the battles do so it is well scored. Battlemode is a 1v2 player mode where 1 slayer fights 2 demons in 5 rounds. 3 to win. It's similar to Left 4 Dead in the aspect that you play as the demons you fight in the campaign. A little dumbed down (Marauder doesn't have his shield like he did in the campaign.) it is very fun when you know the strengths and weaknesses of the slayer/demons. This mode is enjoyable but can get stale quickly. I hope they add new multiplayer modes soon because this does get a little boring after a few matches. Overall, this game broke my expectations and is better than the 2016 Doom in every way. No matter how much you see this game listed for, it is worth it. It was made with a lot of love and will keep being supported with patches/DLC. There was a DLC that release called the Ancient Gods: Part One and also released a Master Level for Super Gore Nest. Which is a Campaign level with a modified difficulty and different game modes for this level. 9.5/10

Doom 2016 was a refreshing step for the series that took it in the right direction. Doom Eternal goes full speed in that direction! With great new tweaks on previous gameplay mechanics like using the always equipped chainsaw for gaining back health to using a mid air dash and shotgun with a grappling hook to close long distances! This game amps up maneuverability to insane levels! Then throw in some well paced gameplay that has you doing glory kills ever ten seconds all while rocking to a new glorious heavy soundtrack and your heart never drops a beat! There's a huge amount of new gear upgrades from weapons, weapon and armor skins you can unlock via the Doom Tower/mancave where you get to run around between levels! ID Software didn't just make an expansion with this. There's a good 15-20 hours of game here that you get to rip and tear through! It is a reformed and mastered experience like no other! Get ready to slay and slay well! Rip and tear! 10/10

Very disappointed the lore book was not included in the box. I unfortunately will not be buying from this seller again. I didn't not get everything that was supposed to be included in this collector's edition set.

The contents for the Deluxe Edition are pretty good, I really love the helmet that comes with it. Game-play wise the game is good but then you will notice all at the very end is just a collection of interconnected arenas with a more or less good story to tie them together. Some characters that were important in Doom 2016 story rarely show up or talk at all. There is a lot of back story missing here (Samuel Hayden, VEGA are a very good examples). Art wise Doom 2016 is better and the environments felt more appropriate for the story, game levels looked more like you were in facility located at another planet. Some areas in Doom Eternal are too "clean" and rather simple. An example are the menus in the in game terminals. In Doom 2016 the place was a bloodbath and when in a room you immediately know that a fight took place previously. The reason I am giving 2 star review is for: Cons: - The soundtrack is not that good (in game music is actually way better) - Some game content is locked behind Twitch Prime. Currently there are screenshots showing that the game developer wanted that with master levels but they stepped back on that decision. Problem is that we don not know if they will do it in the future. This mess with the value of the Collectors Edition and makes me wonder why the hell I need to pay for another subscription to have access to all game content? Two hundred bucks is not enough? - Anti Cheat Denuvo. Lots of people are currently having issues with the game right now. Is optional? No. If you want to play single player campaign you need to have it installed even tho they said it was just for Battlemode (multiplayer part of the game). If you remove it the game won't launch and will ask to install it. A Ring 0 kernel driver that has more privileges than the owner of the computer. This is a very serious security risk for your computer and information in it - That type of dark humor found on Doom 2016 is mostly missing in Doom Eternal - Not sure is me, but I found that some enemy character models are not detailed as the ones in Doom 2016 - Latest patch broke part of the enemy AI. Pain Elemental getting stuck, how Marauders behave are good examples - Key provided is for Bethesda Store and not for Steam. Lets be honest Bethesda launcher just cover the basics and its not good - No cloud save option Pros: - Game is well optimized, loading times are way shorter than original - Performance is better (well... was until they introduced Denuvo Anti Cheat and some bugs) - Well balanced - Fun to play - New game dynamics - In game music is the best I hope they improve this, until then the overall ranting remains two stars. The helmet and collectors items are amazing, however I have to drop two stars because the PC version of this was falsely advertised. The original Amazon listing stated that the game would come with a Steam PC code, it was later removed, and no mention of what platform the code would be on was added back in. I didn't realize this, and neither did many fans, so we ended up with a copy on Bethesda's launcher. This normally wouldn't be a problem, except you can only play with other people on the Bethesda launcher, not your friends on steam. The other issue is that there is no mention in the ads or on the page that the digital soundtrack for DOOM Eternal's release date is TBA.

the helmet is allot better quality than I expected; fortunately I preordered, so I didn't get gouged by the current 100%+ mark up. UNLIKE the 2016 Collector's Edition for PC, you must activate the key code printed on a cardboard drink coaster located within a nicely detailed collectors tin (it is a very well protected drink coaster) on bethesda.net. fortunately, I play quake champions so I had an account. needless to say, my hopes of "painlessly" including this game in my steam library have been quashed... played an hour or so of the game thus far, graphics are really nice on my aging gtx 1070, like doom 2016 game appears well optimized, unlike the 2016 variant, drink coasters have now replaced actual software on CD, necessitating an account with bethesda, which cost this purchase 1 star. EDIT, issues surrounding the 1st major update, have been addressed in the subsequent update (1.1), the denuvo anti cheat software has been removed for the single(campaign) player. id software actually listened to their customer base, a rarity in todays game developer ecosystem.

The game itself is goty material easily. If you loved doom 2016 you will love this. This is a very good collector's edition although the plastic is a little cheap looking on the helmet. Has a cool art book and the soundtrack for 2016 and eternal as well as season pass. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys the more old school style shooters with a modern touch.

The quality of the helmet is excelent with all the details and the led's circuits, the lore book is awesome and the game is Ideal for the quarentine!!! My delivery was fasted than I expected for the covid-19 (International shipping), and it was funny to open a box to open another box to find my Collector's Edition.

En primera instancia el juego es una obra maestra del entretenimiento, te mantiene al filo de tu asiento, tu corazón late y late esperando no morir en el siguiente intento, y entonces, aprendes. Si eres fan de Doom 2016, este juego amplifica de manera impresionante esa experiencia, tal pareciera que id Software se guardó muchos elementos en la primera entrega y aquí lo entrega todo para goce de los fans clásicos (que jugaron los primeros juegos de Doom) tanto como para aquellos que buscan algo nuevo y diferente. Tienes que moverte, si estás parado, mueres, nada más claro puede describir la mecánica de juego. La música es fenomenal y siempre te mantiene con los latidos al máximo. Los niveles de dificultad te darán entretenimiento para un buen rato. Ahora bien, esta edición de colección es una cosa fabulosa, MUY cara, pero muy padre y al parecer, algo escasa. El case metálico es precioso, la adición de un cassette para escuchar parte del soundtrack en una cassettera es un gran detalle, el libro de arte está genial (aunque muy delgado a mi parecer) y la litografía es meramente un póster que me dejó deseando algo un poco de mayor valor; pero el CASCO es lo que hace que esta edición sea fabulosa, tiene gran detalle y lo puedes utilizar sin ningún problema, me hubiera gustado que tuviera un modificador de voz y que las luces estuvieran mejor diseñadas, además de que el cableado tuviera una calidad que no pareciera armado en una bodega China de mala reputación. Lo MALO y que sin duda le quita una estrella es que NO viene disco físico para instalación, pero el precio tan alto de esta edición era parte de o mínimo que podrían haber incluido. Los acabados de las conexiones de los LEDs del casco (como ya mencioné) no cumplen el estándar de un objeto de este precio. La litografía es un triste póster ordinario, además de ser muy pequeño. Lo PEOR, necesitas crear una cuenta en Bethesda para poder activar tu juego, y sinceramente Bethesda es una compañía con prácticas tan negativas para la industria, que espero algún día id Software pueda separarse de ellos, porque NO hay que olvidar que en este juego se incorporó una tecnología anti-trampas para el juego en línea multijugador, y esta tecnología tenía permisos de nivel Kernel, es decir, que a través de esta herramienta, alguien hábil podría obtener control total sobre tu equipo sin que tú te dieras cuenta... por fortuna quitaron esa tecnología, al menos de manera temporal al ver la reacción de nosotros los compradores de este juego, así que OJO con ese detalle. Me tomé mi tiempo para escribir esta reseña que espero le sea útil a alguien y sino, solamente quería dejar mi opinión por un juego tan extraordinario, ¡gracias id Software!
