GEARWRENCH 3 Pc. 1/4" Drive Locking Extension Set Includes 2", 3" & 6" - 81003

I picked up the GearWrench 1/4” 3-piece locking extension set (2”, 3”, and 6”) and have already put them to work with both a regular ratchet and a 1/4” impact ratchet. Even though these aren’t marketed as impact-rated, most 1/4” impact ratchets stay under ~50 ft-lbs anyway, and these extensions handled that use without any issues. Build quality is excellent, which is exactly what I expect from GearWrench. The chrome finish is clean and even, the knurling provides good grip when working with oily hands, and the locking mechanism is smooth but firm. Once a socket is locked in, it stays put — no wobble, no accidental releases, and no annoying socket drop when working in tight spaces. From the packaging and markings, these are Made in Taiwan, which in my experience usually means better machining and consistency compared to similar tools made elsewhere. Everything lines up cleanly, and the detent and locking collar feel precise rather than sloppy. It also looks like I received the updated version with the orange locking collar instead of the older red one. The orange rubber collar is easy to see, easy to slide, and hasn’t loosened up after repeated use. Like most GearWrench tools, this set is backed by a lifetime warranty, which adds peace of mind. For the price, you’re getting three very usable lengths, strong socket retention, and solid construction. Overall: If you’re looking for reliable 1/4” locking extensions that actually hold sockets securely and feel well-made, this is a great buy, especially at this price point. I’d definitely purchase again and recommend them to anyone building out a quality 1/4” drive setup.

These are great!! Most locking extensions have a large collar but I needed something with a small collar. Although this is just an RCH bigger than my Snap-on extensions they work just as good!!!

These rock and are an excellent value as an accessory that offers functionality that is different from standard extensions.

Work great and keep sockets from popping off when reaching into a hole where you must retain socket.

Update: I tried these extensions on a sockets from a different manufacturer and they locked on nicely. My 20 years old Craftsman 1/4 drive sockets do not have the small indent inside that will allow the extensions to lock on. So these extensions work fine with other sockets, but not mine :( The only reason I bought these extensions is for the locking feature. I tried the extensions on numerous sockets and the sockets easily came off the extensions. Returning for a refund.

Great quality and price. Good locking end, easy to put on socket and remove. Look great and have not failed.

This is a work of art, not an extention ! Superb quality in the top of the line. Excellent fitting, finish, geometry, excellent locking, even the knurl and lettering is of the highest quality. Best tolerances (under a tenth) that I have seen on tools, similar only to knipex. Better than the equivelant of facom, expert, gedore, hazet, koken and of course the sloppy fit wera.
