After losing her parents in a car accident, Okko goes to live in the countryside with her grandmother, who runs a traditional Japanese inn built on top of an ancient spring said to have healing waters. While she goes about her chores and prepares to become the inn’s next caretaker, Okko discovers there are spirits who live there that only she can see – not scary ones, but welcoming ghosts who keep her company, play games and help her navigate her new environment. The inn’s motto is that it welcomes all and will reject none, and this is soon put to the test as a string of new guests challenge Okko’s ability to be a gracious host. But ultimately Okko discovers that dedicating herself to others becomes the key to taking care of herself. The latest feature from famed anime studio Madhouse and director Kitaro Kosaka, who was a key animator on numerous classic films at the venerable Studio Ghibli, seamlessly blends immersive, idyllic landscapes with the storybook charm of Okko’s beloved ghosts. A nice watch
This is a lovely, chilled, relaxing story. It’s a gentle watch. As so often is the case with these style of Japanese anime, it tells a story about life and growing. The animation is crisp and clear and is as good as any other comparable works. It’s just a nice watch

stunning anime
oh what can i say ... went into this film blind , no trailers , no reading up - nothing .. and boy i was glad this is a really good film the story is great and has some amazing writing for anime that is , the art style is a cross between older simpler and newer Ghibli style its really well done and clean the English audio is very good and sounds really natural im not going too spoil the movie i suggest you buy this ... blind buy it is worth it .. i was in tears at one point .. so connected too the characters the small picture i added here explains the feel of the movie pretty well ... if you like well written Ghibli style anime this is a total must have ..

A surprisingly good little animation
A surprisingly in depth story about life, death and family. Characters feel realistic and the animation is excellent other than a few questionable choices with 3D(ill get to those). The average adult viewer and children will thoughly enjoy this film. It has that same wholesome feeling of Ghibli while remaining distinct in its art style. Strictly For the referance of long term anime fan: At saying this, there are several scenes where characters, backgrounds and details have been rendered in 3D and either rotoscoped or just thrown in. These feel jarring, break the immersion and distract from what is actually happening. 3D, like this, in anime is a trend that REALLY needs to end.

Nice, but not that magical
With the given description I was expecting A bit more of a magical story similar to spirited away. As it stands it’s a heartfelt but small story of a little girl. I’m glad I’ve seen it, but there are better movies in its genre.
