WD 2TB My Passport Portable HDD USB 3.0, with software for device management, backup and password protection, Works with PC, Xbox and Playstation, Blue

Good storage not that great for games as speed is not that fast as a HDD. Has been reliable over the past few years.

I want to archive old files for access both from Windows PC and Mac. This hard drive arrived formatted as (Windows) NTFS, which is fine for Windows to read and write but Mac can only read but not write. Re-formatting to exFat allows both Windows and Mac to both read and write. I like the colour, easy to spot when lying around. Not long had this but so far it's working OK.

Amazing hard drive, super compact and light as well as having an enormous amount of study space. Became really useful for me transporting data between work and home when I had lots of issues with remote access at the start of lockdown. Absolute life-saver and the huge data dumps I subject it to get uploaded to it really fast.

I like small form factor for the capacity. Very poor instructions and software - all online if you can find them. It is an encrypted drive enabled by a password. If you do not set a password it behaves like a normal USB drive until the electronics fail when you will have difficulty in recovering the encrypted data. To be fair the hardware platter is more likely to fail and you should always have your data on more than one drive. If you do set a password you are just disabling decryption. You are not setting an encryption key or anything as secure as that. Probably OK for taking to school or to a hotel where you do not want anyone snooping through your stuff but not OK for serious protection. Need also to think about which computers to allow auto unlocking on. The software WD Discovery would not load until I allowed error reporting (snooping) I never did find a pdf manual for my model of drive.

Excellent product - we are creating a back-up regime and added this model as we are 100% satisfied with the previous External HDD from Western Digital , which continue to work flawlessly. Software is good too and easy to use. This colour is great - it would be good if they had other nicer colours to choose from - but that is a minor point.

Great little HDD, comes with own USB 3.0 cable which makes for much faster transfer speeds compared to standard USB 2.0. Bought to replace an ancient and full 200GB as backup for my laptop and have absolutely no complaints about the product. Comes with its own software suite which I haven't used as I just drag and dropped my files and worked perfectly.

Great item easy to use,but very disappointing the fact that so much of the memory is taken to run the item.You do not get 2tb which is stated you get 1.81 tb so 190gb to run this item is unbelievable,I think I might get on to the uk company of this brand & ask why it so high,a great deal of memory to lose.

These are quite expensive I think but it's the the only one I'll buy, I know how good it is and I'd rather pay good money for a quality item rather than a bit cheaper and don't know if they're any good. A WORD OF WARNING don't drop it on a hard surface
