So close and yet...
There’s no doubt in my mind that working with DJI air is tremendously better than analog. There’s many FCs that are plug and play, and no maddening issues getting OSD working. Binding is easy and reliable. I’ve had no range issues at all. And of course image quality is so good, there’s no going back to analog for me.But IMO there issues that keep this from being a 5 star product:- Foremost, stabilization. There is none, and I don’t understand why that was overlooked for the price. Despite the gorgeous video quality off the DVR, you still have to mount a secondary camera which is such a shame as to be almost criminal. For the love of all that’s good in this world, please DJI, give us a version with stabilization!- Form factor is, frankly, dumb. Sure there are more and more frames coming out that come with TPU printed mounting, but it escapes me why this device wouldn’t mount in a 30x30 space. With those two issues, I can’t justify the additional cost over a Caddx Vista unit. This product coming so close to blissful perfection only emphasizes it’s shortcomings.

It's an FPV marvel, but there's room to improve
This camera and Air Unit have decent range, good power consumption, and fantastic picture quality. The fact that you can DVR right in the AU is what absolutely sells me on this.Where they could improve it:* Make the camera 4K so people can omit a GoPro for cinematography* Shed some weight. The metal is nice, but go with a minimal AU heatsink and a plastic shell for the camera.* Power up via USB. It's insane that you need to wire up the FC just to get this talking to a computer. You need to use a blower to keep the AU and FC cool long enough to do a firmware upgrade.* Make the camera wire pluggable. It's annoying during builds because the AU and camera install at different times. If the camera is damaged, you have to do a lot more work to replace it.DJI is doing amazing work improving the software with recent updates bringing custom HUD and 50mbit video. If you're looking to invest in an FPV platform, DJI should be your first choice for all but the smallest aircraft (anything >= 3" props is good).

Buy through a company that will provide support through-out your build
Quick cautionary tale... my 1* review is not for the product itself necessarily, but for Amazon's customer service vs any reputable drone part retailer such as RDQ or GetFPV.I decided that I wanted to switch my current drone from using a standard analog VTX to using the digital DJI Air unit. Since this was a retrofit, it required some extensive work on my part to design 3D printable mounts that I could use to mount this unit on my current frame. I chose to buy the unit right away so I could take the appropriate measurements to design the mounts. It took me a bit over the 30-Day return window to get this all done, which included getting some new parts such as larger standoffs. But I got it all done and finally went to install the unit. After soldering the unit necessary connections, I plugged in my quad and the air unit booted fine and the LED status light turned from red to green after a second or so. Next I connected a USB cable to the air unit and this also worked fine and I was able to register with DJI and flash to the latest firmware. Finally I went to pair the air unit with my goggles and it didn't work! When I pressed the pair button, the indicator light on air unit wouldn't change color and nothing happened.I decided to contact DJI support to see if there was something I was doing wrong. They verified the process and said everything looked fine so the escalated to their engineering team. After a few days I received a response saying they've deduced the pair button must be broken and I should initiate a service request. Since this was a brand new unit, I really would prefer to just get it replaced, but since I went beyond my 30-days, Amazon said they were unable to help me. Now I need to wait for DJI service to evaluate my issue and I have no idea if I have to pay for that or not. When I originally built my drone, I ordered most of my parts from RDQ. (RaceDayQuads) Even though RDQ's delivery was fast, with coivd, some of the harder to find parts took a long time to arrive. When I finally built my quad, I had a defective part and RDQ replaced it no questions asked even though I was beyond my return window. I am disappointed that I chose to order this part from Amazon and not RDQ. I will not make that mistake again. So buyer-beware. It's entirely possible and probably likely that your unit will work just fine and you won't have a problem. But if you do end up having an issue, don't expect any support past the return window.

Excellent for digital FPV.
I actually grabbed 2 of these units before they had to change because of camera supply issues; related to chip shortages. They have one major flaw; They overheat very quickly. It's quite annoying. You can't even update the firmware without it shutting down before it's finished; unless you run a fan over it while it's updating.Signal and video is rock solid though.I use mine with the V2 goggles that came with my DJI FPV. switching back and forth is not as straight forward as it should be, but I never had any problems.
