Great for Passive Basses!
I've had this pedal for about two months now and I think it's great. I've encountered no technical difficulties and the tone is awesome. I would recommend looking up some youtube videos to make sure that this pedal is the sound you want though. It's great for funk and rock, and the ability to control the dry and fx signals individually is a unique and useful touch. I own two basses at the moment: an active Ibanez ATK300 and a passive bass I built myself with a p/j pickup configuration. I feel that the pedal sounds a lot better on passive instruments than active ones. I noticed immediately that the sound of the pedal on my p/j was better than on the Ibanez. At first I thought this was just the individual basses, but then I ran my Ibanez passive and it sounded great... so I assumed it was an active/passive thing. overall, i like the pedal a lot. BTW: the Jim Dunlop ECB03 Dun C/B Adaptor Eliminator is the correct 9V adaptor for this pedal, The one they mention in the pedal's description is not sold anymore.

FUNKIEST PEDAL !
THIS IS THE PEDAL I WAS ALWAYS WAITING FOR! GREAT ANALOG SOUND, A TRUE BYPASS CIRCUIT,AND MOST IMPORTANTLY THE ABILITY TO MIX IN YOUR DRY BASS SIGNAL,THE BOTTOM END STAYS WHEN THE EFFECT IS BEING USED,ALSO WHO CAN ARGUE WITH METALLIC PURPLE,LOVE IT! AGAIN I CANT STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE ABLE TO MIX IN YOU DRY SIGNAL,THATS SUCH A HUGE OPTION,REASON WHY I PURCHASED IT,ALSO VERY SIMPLE TO USE AND STRONG HOUSING!

Love this little Funk monster
Over the years I've had just about every EF pedal ever made and this is one of the best. The dry and FX knobs are what I like about this pedal adding more dry to the effect gives you a thicker EF sound than some other pedals. It's also a very small pedal. I still use a Source Audio EF Pedal which does a lot of things and is great but it is rather large. For some compact funk the MXR Bass EFis the way to go.

awesome classic envelope filter
This is a very classic sounding envelope filter. It's brilliant at getting awesome funk sounds and also some very deep, underwater-sounding dub tones. It's got a lot of wAYomp! in it. The only thing that took me a while to learn is that this thing really hots up your signal. You'll want to back off the Dry and the Wet knobs to achieve unity gain with your non-funkbox volume. You could spend more to get something that had reverse sweeps and some additional synth sounds. But if you want a simple, high quality standard EF, this IS your box. The end.

Best sounding filter
MXR got this right. I've used them all, and the thing that makes this the ticket is the ability to mix effect and dry signal. The sensitivity is also critical, and allows you to dial in just the spot where your attack will trigger the effect, and let's you 'dig into' the note to 'quack'. Don't hesitate to pop for this if you want the funk. It the bomb!

Great for bass AND guitar
I use this for guitar. Frequency range is great for bass or guitar. Clean sweeps with no serious peaks as with some envelope filters.

This thing is super phresh.
This pedal kills! I use one on my bass, Fender P5, and one for guitar as well. If you're looking for a usable, deliciously analogue envelope filter, get one of these. It retains ALL of your low-end frequencies and provides a tight layer of funk. But seriously though, try it on guitar...

which I love. It has excellent tracking and you can get ...
Unlike a lot of envelope filters I have owned, it has an option to mix the dry signal with the effect, which I love. It has excellent tracking and you can get so many classic tones. Only downside is the light is really freaking bright.

Great pedal. Though it responds better to passive basses than active basses
Great pedal. I highly recommend it. It responds well to the level of my attack / dynamics, making it easy to change the tone simply by how hard I pluck. It sounds great. Of note though, it sounds / responds better on my passive basses (Fender Jazz & Precision basses) than it does on my active basses (Spectors)

Perfetto!
