Peretti Thriller Collection: 3 Book Set (This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness, The Prophet) Mass Market Paperback – October 1, 2003

I have had these books for years enjoying rereading them many times. I lent them out and they never were returned. Captivating reading about how quickly and pervasively evil can and will take over. Also interesting is how a person of faith can come to doubt the truth. It must be said these are written by a well known and popular religious Christian author. The book can be quite scary at how easily evil pervades a person or town, however, teaches us that faith will lead us if we open our hearts and minds. Excellent series of books. Please note these may be older publishing and lite in print color and smaller print making it difficult for older people to read. I’d suggest larger print if possible as I just bought several for my 83 year old FIL. He is reading but more difficult.

This is one of those series that I can see people loving or hating. I absolutely loved it. Peretti is a great storyteller and his prose is easy to enjoy. I didn't really know what to expect when I picked this book up. I've heard the name but I never read any of the books. Now, I know why I heard the name. These books, which really put Peretti on the map, are just as relevant now as they were more than 20 years ago. The battle between good and evil is betrayed in an original way that I have not seen anyone else really attempt and do well. For any Christian, this is a must read.Now the other side of the equation is those who will really hate this book. If you don't believe in a spiritual world, demons, angels, or anything other than what your eyes can see then you probably won't like this book. The whole plot will seem ridiculous and far-fetched. To those individuals I can only say give it a chance. Suspend your disbelief for a couple of hours (you'll fly through it) and you will be rewarded with a great thriller where what is at stake is the souls of an entire town.It's great fun!!!

This series was nothing short of amazing. I loved every book. Powerful reminder to keep praying.

I read the first two and loved them YEARS ago.few months ago I was discussing them with my girlfriend and see was very interested in reading them. Again it was a Few Years back I didn’t realise there was a 3rd. So I got the collection and I’m waiting for her to finish the first so I can read it again to refresh the story to read the 3rd

I first read Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness last fall and immediately fell in love with the novel and it's practical application of biblical truths as we know them in everyday life. People forget that there is a spirit realm out there, and choosing to ignore it or not believe in it doesn't make it go away. The physical world affects the spiritual and vice-versa.Peretti's This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness are two of the best Christian fantasy novels I have ever read, but I hesitate to use the word "fantasy" as opposed to "reality". The truth is that angels and demons are at war around us constantly, and we, those of us who believe in Jesus as Lord and the Son of God, have the power to change it.Both novels in the "Darkness" series are not only well written but extremely engaging. Once the mystery starts, you don't want to put the book down until you find out how it ends. This was my experience with both novels. I have not read Prophet yet, though I plan to read it sometime between this Fall and next Spring (hopefully during my Winter break at the end of this semester), I have heard many good things.The Three-Pack comes as advertised. Three small softcover books packaged together in the "Frank E. Peretti Three-Pack". I received all the books in good condition, new even, with no tears or indents.Repent and believe in the Gospel, for it is the power to save to all those who believe.

Very gripping story line, we listened to the audio book on a long trip after having read it years and years ago and it was so good we didn't want to stop the car to pause it. Sometimes we'd come home and turn off the car in the garage and keep on listening for a few more min to see what was going to happen next. While written a long time ago it addresses many of the same problems we still run into today. We just wanted to have them in print as well as the audio books. Great books that I highly recommend.

I purchased this 3-pack because I couldn't find This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness separately, or in digital format, which is what I really wanted. But regardless, I have been wanting to re-read This Present Darkness since I first read it back in the '80s. The story was just as good as before, and a great reminder of the unseen spiritual realm around us. I love the image of prayer-strengthened angels fighting on our behalf. This is a great read. My only negative comment is minor: Peretti uses the word "myriad" way too many times, especially in the last 25% of the book. So much so, that it became annoying and distracting and made me mention it here. You'd think that the editor would have caught that.

Great set of books, must read for every Christian, very realistic, very true to the Gospel on Spiritual Warfare, and very prophetic. For anyone who has eyes in their heads and is spiritual, you will immediately recognize this. The Prophet starts slow but is totally worth the read - stick it out. It will help you understand a great deal about how the media works with agents of darkness to skew the public in favour of demonic laws, and keep them in the dark about the evil, horrendous, side effects these laws have.Very impactful. You may have heard from your Pastor or Priest how important it is to pray, but this realistic fiction will imprint it on your mind in a way that many a church sermon can't.
