When zooming in on the mugs it appears there are white spots on the top drinking rim where the paint color/porcelain does not cover. Is that the case?

It could be the angle or lighting of the picture. Mine do not have any white spots or discoloration at the drinking rim. I love them they are very colorful.

Do these coffee mugs actually hold 16oz? Someone's review says less.

The cups will hold 16 oz but are filled to the rim if you fill that full. It is more drinkable without spilling over the edge to fill about 14 oz full. I add some cream to the cup and keep it with 12 oz. of coffee.

They appear to be tall and slim; what are the dimensions of these?

They hold 10 0z of liquid. They are not slim.

Where are these made?

The bottom of the mugs say they are made in China. I like a colorful look and these are perfect for morning coffee!
