I have used it everyday multiple times since Mar 2020, its been 5 years and it still works as new I like the Piano black with large display and its easy to use and view big temprature settings. I love that it heats up a full kettle to 212 pretty quickly ( Under a min) The water is in a stainless steel container and at no time comes in touch with plastic which I appreciate . Green tea 175 is a great preset Its practical, sturdy, quick to heat, long life, large capacity to others ... highly recommended

I've had this kettle several weeks and I think I can provide some informative feedback. Over the years, I've owned a number of electric kettles with varying satisfaction. They only had to do one thing and they all accomplished that task. The differences were mainly materials used, ease of cleaning, and longevity. My most recent kettle lasted about 15 years, so I can't complain. To replace it, I searched quite a bit, checking out new designs and features and was drawn to this Krups kettle. In no time, I realized I'd made an excellent choice. The kettle's design is very attractive in my kitchen. On a more practical level, the kettle heats water to a boil very quickly. I very much appreciate the audible tone it makes when it reaches the desired temperature. I like having the option to select water temperatures other than a full boil although that will only happen occasionally. The interior of the kettle is stainless steel thus making for safer water to drink. Unlike most all other kettles, it's insulated and an attractive plastic is used on the exterior thus making the kettle safe to touch. The display of the water temperature is a very nice touch and looks quite impressive. The kettle has a wide opening, making it quite easy to clean the interior but it must NOT be submerged in water. The only thing this kettle needs to prove itself is to continue working for many more years and I'm confident it will. Yes, I'm very pleased with this kettle.

I got this to replace my Cuisinart electric kettle that also had various temp settings to boil the perfect cup of tea. The cuisiart died after 10 y or so; the lid no longer opened. The buttons had worn off but it still heated. Besides looking more elegant, this seems to heat faster and I don’t accidentally burn my knuckles by touching th carafe. I also like the digital T. If I boiled water and forgot about it, you can check the temp to know if you need to boil again, or if the water T is still fine. I live in area with well water, so I’ve only put purified water in the kettle (couple times spring water. I bought it Nov 2021 and I have yet to descale it (6/2023). Looks brand new. Use multiple times per day. I wish it were available in a sleek white; almost didn’t get it since it didn’t exactly match but I’m glad I did. Easier to keep the outside clean than cuisinart too. One quibble: to me, neither the cuisinart or this are truly cordless. The kettle sits on a base; the base has short cord to plug in to outlet. Once water heated, the kettle is lifted from the disc (the disc has the cord), and you can carry to table or wherever without the cord. I think this technicality is important bc you really can’t take it camping unless you have electric. Seems like there could be rechargeable kettles like charge once a week or something. One other thing that could be better is if you could see the water level from outside the kettle. That feature present on cuisinart, but not a deal breaker for me. This is a much superior electric kettle that I had been waiting for, for years. The price has come down a lot since 11/2021 too so it’s a steal now. 8/2024 still in perfect condition. Using filtered water, I’ve never had to descale it. Fast. The fact that I can’t see the water level through the pot bothers me less as the minimum water is just less than 2 mugs of tea, and the almost full makes a quart.

When hubby tore apart my old electric tea kettle because the on switch ceased to function for the last time, I began the search for a replacement. I had no idea that the search would take me down a path of such complexity. I learned far more about the art and science of boiling water than I ever thought necessary. I learned about tea requiring multiple temperatures at which to steep, coffee temperature requirements, containers that could handle larger volumes of water, metal vs plastic parts, rusting, measurement indicators, spout shapes and angles causing drip, speed of flow, lid angles for ease of filling, UIs for the kettles and/or their bases, etc. I just wanted to boil water without drinking rust and not have the switch break every year. Yes, I use my kettle upwards of 5 times a day. Many reviews and YouTube videos later, I came to the conclusion that there is no perfect electric kettle for all uses. The more complex the kettle, the higher the price tag, and the more possible failure points it has. The simplest kettles were often made out of the cheapest materials and less reliable. While I was reluctant to spend $20 on another kettle that I would throw away in a year (the disposable nature of everything nowadays irks me), I did not feel the need to spend over $100 on a container TO BOIL WATER. This Krups kettle seemed like a happy medium, and it has, so far, proven to be a good buy. And I am enjoying the fancy features. Pros: Cool to the touch. Large container. Cord for base is longer than you think it is (look under!!). Sleek look. Easy to wipe down if water streaks down the side. Metal filter is part of the kettle, no need to remove pieces. Love that I can one touch boil or boil and hold the temperature for half an hour. Selecting temperature has proven to be useful. Boils quickly. I boil a full pot of water in the same time it takes to boil a small amount of water in my 3 qt pot on the stove. I pour the boiled water into the now hot pot and pasta can go in immediately, so it speeds up cooking dramatically. The spout is pretty good. Still drips down the side occasionally, but not a lot. The thermometer on the side is… satisfying, as my kids would say. Cons: you press it once to wake it up. Then press a second time to actually start heating. This drives hubby a little batty because he feels like maybe he isn’t pressing the button correctly. I don’t have a problem with it. The lid does emit a strange plasticky smell on the outside. I’ve had it for several weeks now and still get an occasional whiff. It has definitely decreased, however. In addition, if you smell inside the pot if you lift the lid, the inside does NOT have the smell. The water is just fine. Since the container is rather large, even Gigi might have trouble pouring from it without a single drip. But it does well enough, and certainly better than my old kettle. The button to open the lid occasionally fails to open, but I think I just need to figure out the exact pressure to apply. Longevity remains to be seen. Given that a $20-30 kettle lasts about a year to 18 months, I’m hoping I can get at least 3 years out of this one. If not, you will be hearing from me…

This review is for the digital 1.7 L version. My family drinks various teas and we also do French press & pour over coffee, so the adjustable temp is perfect for us. When water is too hot for green tea, it tends to bring out bitterness, for instance. Since we rotate our drinks around a lot even throughout the day, I don’t mind the few presses needed to pick the appropriate temp, and the boil temp is always a quick preset. The temperature options make this kettle a must for tea fanatics! Most kettles that have a full window have plastic parts that come into contact with the water, so every time you fill up this kettle, know that the lack of a window is the price you pay for having 100% stainless internal parts. Because this pot is insulated, it holds temps well. I don’t need a keep warm feature because it heats right back up so quickly. If you have hard water, simply clean occasionally with vinegar, and the mineral deposits will dissolve and can be easily washed away. I like this kettle so much, I keep buying it as gifts for fellow tea-loving family and friends.

UPDATE In just under two years the "boil" button only works one time in twenty. Its lid has been a challenge to open for a while now. The warranty is useless. The Krupps name means nothing anymore. ORIGINAL REVIEW Inspect carefully for manufacturing defects (but accept the design flaws) Close inspection my new KRUPS BW801852 reveals odd, yet acceptable, design choices and an unacceptable manufacturing defect. I love that this kettle can be set to various temperatures. The manual recommends temperatures (pictured) for appropriate temperatures, including 200˚F for french-press coffee. Unfortunately there is no 200˚F setting on the kettle. I knew this before purchase and can live with it—I plan to get it to 195˚F with the provided setting, then switching it to boil and manually interrupting it when the water reaches my desired temperature. (I hope that will work—I have yet to use the kettle.) Looking at the bottom of the base (pictured), you can see there are two feet, which is an interesting design decision because, for the same reason a tripod has three feet, two feet to not provide very stable support. My last kettle, which had three feet, would also tip a little if you pushed down on the edge between the feet, but not so much as this one does (pictured twice). Still, it's not a deal-breaker. The reason I am returning this kettle is what I hope to be a manufacturing flaw. The bottom of the kettle is flat—which is good. The top of the base is not—which is bad. The base is warped in the area where the cord comes out (pictured twice), leading to additional rocking of the kettle. By the way this kettle was packaged: with clumsy tape (pictured) and rattling contents, I suspect it was previously sold to someone else who also noticed the flaw. I am very disappointed that the seller tried to pass it off on me, particularly if the previous customer notified the seller of the manufacturing defect. I am returning this kettle for a replacement; it does have some design issues, but overall I like the appearance of the kettle: the interior does not seem to have any plastic that comes in contact with the water, there is no lip at the top preventing the last bit of water from getting out, and it is quite good-looking. I'm also happy that the descaling instructions suggest using vinegar or a citric-acid solution, rather than trying to sell a proprietary formula. One last thing: There is a sticker on the side of the kettle showing what the display will look like when it's on (pictured). I wasn't sure it was a sticker at first. Be sure to remove it before you use the kettle—but not before checking for manufacturing defects. When I receive my replacement kettle I will update my rating and review. Cheers!

Wow this is easily to use and great quality product. It heat my water very quick and durable product. It doesn’t make my water taste funny or gross.

This kettle lives up to its brand name. I've had this product for 5 years and love being able to tell the temperature as it rises. Sometimes needs go beyond boiling water for tea and the temperature gage is one of its best features. Sadly, I had a guest stay with me and within the first 2 weeks of her stay, she managed to break the lid that worked perfectly for the last 5 years. It's all about the touch. German technology is built to last, but it can't hold up to user malpractice. Needless to say, despite the price obviously going up since I last bought it, I will most definitely be buying this one again as a replacement.

For years I refused to use an electric kettle, because I didn't want my hot water coming into contact with plastic (hello carcinogens!). Most kettles have a plastic viewing-window to indicate the water level, even if they're stainless steel. This is the first electric kettle I've encountered that doesn't boil your water in plastic - YAAAAY!!! It's so quick! I grind my coffee beans / pack them into my coffee maker, and the water's already boiled. I love seeing the temperature as it heats. The exterior looks completely black, but when you hold under direct light it's actually a translucent eggplant (little hidden surprise for people who appreciate colour). It might scratch, so I use an extra fine buffing cloth to dry the exterior. To keep the interior from getting cloudy scale buildup, I use 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water inside the kettle once per week and let it soak overnight. Vinegar & water mix can be reused many times if you dump it into a spare container. You can skip the vinegar bath, if you're not fussy. I paid around $95 CAD, more than I've spent on a kitchen gadget before. It's been the best purchase, completely worth it to me. I absolutely love this kettle.

Love the size and digital display, It matches my toaster that is also piano black with digital display. The handle is a little big but don't really notice it anymore. I never had a kettle that you could select the temperature you want and it is easy to do so. Also has a keep warm feature where you can leave the kettle and it will keep heating as needed to stay at that temperature. As far as performance I would have to say it heats up fairly quick compared to my previous kettles. It is very nice quality, not cheaply made by any means. On the down side when you pick up the kettle from base it doesn't remember your settings other than temp setting when you replace it on base however its so easy to set its not an issue for me. The other thing id although the lid opens up easily by pushing the button i feel it should open wider than it does, kind of have to tilt it a bit if you have a large pull down sprayer faucet but again not a deal breaker. I hummed and hawed awhile before purchasing as I never heard of krups but im so glad I purchased it as I think compared to the price of other kettles this is a steal for the quality and size.
