Great For Working In Tight Spaces...

I like that these smaller squares allowed me to jig up my project without having to radically reconfigure my drill press. As I was more interested in squaring my project up, I checked the 90 degree angles and, for the units I received, they appeared to be within the spec sheet values. I imagine that the length accuracy may depend on the ambient temperature so that's something to think about.

Excellent set of squares.

Good set of small squares for a good value. They are accurate, convenient, and good looking. The scale on the rulers is also clear and ready to read.

Good bang for the buck and some real numbers or measurements! How to make this thing work better!

7/6/20 - Early...It has been about 20+ years since I was a machinist at GE making Jet Engines and more in a 20 year prior career stint... So I was looking forward to these. Once in the door I took a quick look at them and this is what I found:* Readability - Check, as others said, this is not the best. Couple that with old eyes and it is a tough one.* Case - Pretty nice, as long as the hinges hold up, it will protect the items.* Locking thread nuts - Check, as said by others, pretty rough. I might try lapping the threads in, or see if I have a dye for the the studs.* Deburring - Check, as others have said. I will take a stone to the edges where needed.* Accuracy - The sellar eludes to these being traceable to the National Bureau of Standards. Hum... As others said, the accuracy listed here was .0008 per inch! The box it comes in says .0015, but gives no other info. So is that for the entire length of the item or per inch? I have no clue. What I can tell you is I put the small square inside the big square and looked at the light. I saw a small amount of light on the long edges. I tried a .0015 feeler gage between them and it was a no-go. Hum, so far so good. I have a special .0006 feeler gage and drug that out. No-go on that too. Not stinking bad at all. These measurements were taken full lenght of the long edges. They are keepers because of this, at least on the ones I got!I would say if you get a set and you are unhappy with them in this area, send em back and try a replacement. Be sure the the nut is tight and there is no movement between the ruler and the cross beam!At least for this old Machinist from by gone days, I will work them over and find a nice place for them in my shop!Be well and I will update once I "dig in",PUPDATE 7-6-20 8PMGoing to brain dump this time around.I got a chance to work over the 2 squares and this is what I found and did: I did not find the threads on my squares M/F parts to be tight or rough, but I did find things that contributed to the poor "feel" these have. What everyone said about sharp edges is true. Would it cost a nickel more to have someone in China debbur these things? This is a common issue with Chinese tools from what I have seen. - So, out came the files and stones. I used a fine file and a 1/2" square toolmakers fine stone that was 2" long . I went over every edge, corner and also caught the slots, most important here is the center slot in the scale. I used the stone there at a 45 deg angle. Another key point in a more Starrett type feel is the catch the face of the nut to beam contact points! Action is much smoother now and a drop of M! Starrett oil or light machine oil on the moving parts is a big help too. Wipe off the excess after working it in a bit.Now is the bad news. There is a fairly big gap in both squares between the scale blade and the beam slot!!! Thus unless you have vise grip fingers you will have a hard time "locking" the scale in the beam slot no matter how hard you tighten the thumb nut. The slack is evident when you twist the scale blade in the beam housing! You can help this by rotating the scale clockwise with the right hand with he slot in the scale towards you. I measured the small scale and found the gap to be approx .020. Thus the reason this will never be as close to a Starrett as it could have been. In addition I bet the threads on the Starrett are finer in pitch. These are pretty coarse. The coarse threads do not help the "feel" or ability to engage and lock up the scale blade.I will update further if I find the "movement" mentioned above causes inconsistent squareness accuracy issues! So there you have it as I think that is everything and all my best with your squares,P

I really love these.

I had 2 other combination squares that I owned but I was interested in a double square. So I tried these. I also noted that my 18 inch combination square from a big box store was noticeable not square. What surprised me about this purchase was how much I was going to like the 4 inch double square. It has become one of my favorite and most used shop items. I have no complaint about the 6 inch square but I have honestly barely used it. The 4 inch square is just so convenient. Both squares are square, accurate, and easy to read. The satin finish really helps with this. I love that the measurements go down to 1/64 of an inch. I would like to complain that the markings are hard to read, but it is not the device and rather my 50+ year old eyes. We don't like to admit to age but the device is great.

A 4.5 star rating for woodworking and general shop use.

This is a 4.5 star rated double square set for woodworking and general shop use. At the $34.00 price point value makes this iGaging 4" and 6" set worth purchasing especially when comparing versus the Starrett 6" square alone for $80.00 - let me explain.I do own Starrett precision tools - 12" square, compass and center finder. These are high quality, highly accurate tools purchased in the 1990s and are outstanding in quality. However you have to pay a high price for it especially today in 2020 dollars.I needed a good set of squares I could use for marking mortise and tenon joints and doing layout lines for an old stand up closet I am refurbishing and for a table build project. Also to make blade/dado height adjustments on the table saw. I went on Amazon and researched Starrett and other brands - with sticker shock. I came across this iGaging set and read all the reviews, saw a few YouTube and Google search reviews too and decided to purchase this set vs the Starrett single 6" square at more than twice the price. My grandfather always told me to buy the best tools - that you can afford - and in some case the best is what you need. These iGaging squares are perfect for woodworking precision and general shop fix it projects. These are high quality squares. While the finish is a step below Starrett tooling as many reviews have noted, it is more than half the price. You get what you need with this set of squares from iGaging. I will definitely buy more iGaging branded tools in the future. Highly recommended for woodworking/general fix it.

Exactly what you would expect, as advertised.

Great value for the money, do not expect super high quality these are not Starrett, but are so superior to the basic sets that the value is super. I use in the field and like the case they are in. For field work these are exactly what I wanted, better than the average, but not tool room quality. They hold their locations and do not slip. Took the scales and sanded with 360 wet dry paper to smooth the edges, they worked easier and felt better. For my needs these are great and like the purchase. I have tool room level of these in my shop and would not want to take a chance damaging in the field these are a great option for my field needs.
