I like the size and foldability
Works right out of the bag and very sleek and portable. I love how this folds up and takes up such little space in my small computer cable pouch. It’s a great value too. No issues in its functionality with and reading my ID card.

Branding is off
A friend and I purchased one of these separately about 2 weeks apart. His had the Identiv brand, mine has the Hirsch brand. From what I can tell, the company is legit and their own website shows the Identiv product, but I cannot find any link between the two companies at time of review (July 2026). It connects fine with Type-C. Its a little stiff, but functionally works. When folded up, the reader portion is a little bigger than a 2x4 standard Lego brick minus the cable. Probably will buy another to have in my travel bag. Worked with both my CAC and ALT Token.

Cute CAC reader and works like a champ
I needed a CAC reader for home and this one is perfect. It is mobile, I keep it on my keychain and I am always prepared to login to my CAC enabled sites on the go when I have my laptop with me. Since it is so compact I can also keep it in my computer bag without taking up a lot of space. My only issue is that the unit does not snap together when in the folded form so it sometimes opens on its own, but so far it has not been damaged and also worked without any issues. I just downloaded the drivers from the website and it worked like a charm. Overall, great product so when I want a larger reader to keep at my desk. I will be back to purchase it.

Easy access for iPhone
Contrary to some reviews, this works fine on my iOS device. I’m glad I took the chance that it would. I’ve had similar SCR3500 in the USB A versions, do this saves me one less dongle in my pocket when I need access on the go. It hasn’t happened yet, but I expect to break one of the arm eventually like every previous one I’ve owned.
