Umarex Universal Speed-Loader for .177 Caliber BB Gun Air Pistols - Includes 4 Adapters , Black

After reading the reviews, which were mostly not very favorable, I figured I would give it a try anyway since loading my pistol and rifle took so much time. I have the Umarex Smith & Wesson M&P pistol and the Crosman M4-177 rifle. My speedloader came factory sealed in a package that you have to cut to open. After opening the package I look at the thing and at the bottom (magazine loading end) I see what looks like a steel bb, but I say to myself, it can't be a bb this thing was in a sealed package, so I try to push it into the loader, but it does not move much and I did not want to break the thing in case I had to send it back, and pushing on the plunger on the speedloader did not move it either. So I put the adapter for my pistol (it comes with four adapters for various pistols) on the speedloader, filled it with bb's, held my magazine against the bottom of the loader and pressed the plunger (you have to press it pretty hard, but do not try to force it if it feels jammed) and the bb's went right into the magazine, about 5 or 6 at a time. You kind of have to twist and shake the loader to get the bb's into the dispense area of the loader and when you have done that you just keep pressing the plunger until the magazine is loaded. You do not have to lower the spring in the magazine, the speedloader just pushes the bb's right in. After loading the pistol I went to load the rifle (It just has a 3/8 inch hole in the side to drop bb's into) , I took the adapter off the speedloader and just put the loader against the hole and pressed the plunger and bb's went right into the rifle's reservoir. It holds 350 bb's and did not take long to fill it. This speedloader saves a lot of time and works very well. The plunger is plastic though and you have to be careful not to put too much pressure on it if it seems stuck. If the loader does feel like it has jammed just shake it or bang it against your leg or something that is not too hard to free it up. And by the way, the loader apparently does come with a bb in it, at least mine did. Maybe my loader had gone back to the factory if someone returned it and the factory properly sealed it back up. In any case it looked brand new and worked as it should. Good shooting. Update: Jan. 3, 2013 In case any of you thought I was nuts for giving this thing a good review, you were right. Umarex should be ashamed to sell such a poor product. After using it (or attempting to) for many magazine reloads I find that it jams much more often than it loads. I am only surprised that I have not broken the plunger yet. When it works, which is rarely, it loads well, unfortunately that is not often. The internal mechanism on this thing is obviously poorly designed and the company should recall them, repair the problem, and send us a workable product. I lower my rating to one star.

I had some hopes for trying to use this to reload my Tanfoglio gas blow-back .177 BB gun mags. Out of the box, it looked pretty good, but I couldn't get the BBs to come out of the end. After a few strenous presses against the lever, nothing happened. After banging it a few times, it finally seemed to "give way" and started dispensing BBs. Thinking I had the problem solved, I pulled out the thumb lever and tried again. Same thing, it won't feed them, the loader is just jammed. I'm using Crossman Copperhead precision copper coated steel BBs, they are pretty solidly manufactured and I've never had a problem firing them, so I don't think they're the problem. After one more go trying to just press the lever increasingly hard, it finally just split open the bottom end and the lever got jammed half-way down. Now it's totally busted, no way to get the remaining BBs out, absolute waste of my time and money. I never even got to try it on the real magazine. I don't know if this is a strange one-off problem, but based on this experience, I'd say, "Stay away."

I purchased this after reading the reviews here. I did see some negative reviews but thought I'd just get this and then work through it. I'm an engineer and can usually get things to work or do some little mod and get things acceptable for me. I opened the loader and filled by BB's in it. Sure enough, the darn thing was kind of stiff and getting jammed. I removed the BB's and put them back in the original jar. I put about 3 drops of my sythetic BB gun lube in the jar and shook it all up thoroughly. I then put the BB's back in the loader and success! They load great! I think no matter what BB's you purchase (although you should always try and use quality BB's), if they are dry they will tend to stick to each other and jam this loader. A few drops of lube cured this jamming and I'm very happy with this loader. Maybe the manufacturer should put that disclaimer on thier package. I'm sure they could eliminate a lot of returns by letting customers know that completely dry BB's are definitely going to cause issues. Also, I'm ok with lubing the BB's a bit. I think it's better for the gun anyway. I'm using this with the 3 magazines on my Sig Sauer Spartan CO2 BB gun.

First it is all plastic, including the plunger. I tried to use it on my M712 magazine but the plunger kept jamming, refusing to be pushed down. Not wanted to use excess force and break something, I opted to take out the three screws that hold it together and see if there was a visible issue. Do this carefully over a towel as there are two springs inside that WILL try to fly away. Nothing seemed amiss with the plunger or slot it rides along. I removed the 'push to lock' part and saw that there was a large piece of flashing still on it. A bit of trimming with an Exacto knife cleaned it up. I sprayed a little Ballistol in the works for good measure and carefully reassembled the loader, tightening all three screws. It now feeds the BBs as it is supposed to, and the plunger lock functions as well. I downgraded this inexpensive accessory one star because of the obvious lack of quality control in its assembly. But it does now function as it should.

Barely works. Plunger jams constantly. Initially spent a lot of time just determining how it is supposed to work and to be used since the instructions consist of some super brief notes on a card that is packaged with the parts. No mention of the plunger lock except small molded text on the loader itself. Manual loading is faster than using this junk. Also the supplied 4 adapters are not that useful. Update from 1 star to 3 for the following reasons: Considering that Umarex is in the air gun business, this item must have decent designers but they fell down in the manufacturing and documentation areas. Spent an hour looking at lots of other reviews and this thing can be made to work. One person talked about it being a reasonable design but had poor quality in the construction. Another talked about getting it to work by adding a drop or two of airsoft silicon lubricant. What I saw right off on this product is the plunger lock was constantly interfering with its operation, so I removed it. Also adding the lubricant smoothed out its operation significantly. So between the two changes to its operation, it now works. Bottom line: (1) Their "instructions" are abysmal. (2) add silicon oil with the BBs. (3) if it fails to feed, tap it a few times to dislodge hung up BBs.

What a hunk of c***!! Broke before even one BB was loaded. Instructions are completely useless. Faster/easier to load by hand. Waste of money and time. It's busted and it's going back. I should send THEM a bill for my time! UPDATE. So, being a mechanical engineer I just couldn't leave it alone. I had to figure out just why this is such a POS. Upon taking it apart I found that it is quite a simple yet complex design. Really, not a bad design at all. The problem is not so much the design but the horrible manufacturing. The fix: Plastic injection molded parts leave a small string of hard material once it gets ejected from the mold. This plastic piece is call the "sprue". Most of the time the sprue is cut off close enough to the part that it doesn't pose a problem. In this case though, the poorly cut remaining protrusion prevents the smooth action of the 'ram' driving down and inserting a BB into the "magazine" the thing that holds the BBs that gets inserted into the pistol. Once I filed off all the offending obstructions the ram slide just fine. But... their choice of spring is too large in diameter and so it simply slides past the spring stop thus making the spring 100% useless and that is the main problem. With those little problems remedied (lucky I have 100s of assorted springs) with the proper spring and the loader works like a champ. I had to swap parts from the Number 5 nose to the broken Number 3 - happy they sent 'spare' parts ;-). Still one star, but at least the original designer should not bare the blame. Just crappy manufacturing and zero quality control.

This has definitely worked for me. I use it to load my Beretta M92A1 Full Auto magazines and it gets the job done in literally seconds. I just take the squared corner of the plunger tab to push down catch of the mag, then align the outlet hole to the mags inlet hole and push the plunger down. Takes 3 pushes to fill each mag. Couldn't be easier! No need to use my thumb nails or anything else. Once in a while I misalign and drop a couple of BB's, but compared to loading 18 BB's by hand each time, I'll take that any day! Just pick up those dropped BB's, put them back in the loader, and ready to go again. I use it with my Sig SP2022 as well and it's just as fast. My only complaints about this are: - Shaft of the plunger feels weak and flimsy - needs to be thicker - The plunger lock comes unlocked too easily - just a slight touch and the plunger pops up again

Right out of the box, this thing jammed after one try. I tried many things to clear it. It’s just not a good design and all plastic. I reverted to manually loading the BBs myself. Oh well.

Très beau produit de bonne qualité.Pour l'instant rien à dire sur celà. À utilisé avec plomb BBs acier et non avec recouvert de cuivre car comme toute chose avec ceux en acier rien ne s'encrasse!! Fonctionne très bien alors rien à dire !!!

The item came in perfect condition, as described. It would have been a good product if it wasn’t made in plastic. The speedloader jams most of the time and it can easily be broken. It’s not the kind of thing you can carry with you... I used it with a Beretta Elite II and I even bought a second one somewhere else and it did the same thing too. I don’t recommend this item.

I have put thousands of rounds through with no jams or problems but I do lubricate my B.B.s with some oil so that may be why it doesn’t jam like other people have claimed

Overall build of the loader is made of bulky but weak feeling plastic. Works well and can load 3-7 zinc coated BB's a pump. I do recommend and So far the best speed loader on Amazon
