Easy, affordable, effective, and delicious
I love these as a solution to the problem of coffee water. Rather than worry about the ph and mineral balance of your tap, or mess around with expensive spring water to find what you like best, you can just buy dirt cheap distilled water, add a packet, and rest assured that you have a perfect mineral balance for your coffee. The water I make with these results in delicious light roast filter coffee, and Iโm looking forward to trying their other roast profiles. Theyโre also surprisingly inexpensive; 12 gallons of water should last months, and assuming a 12 oz cup of coffee, these only cost about $0.13 per cup, which is a small price to pay for the increase in quality. I have not tried any competing coffee water solutions, of which I know there are a few, but Iโm very happy with these.

Coffee tastes better
It didn't bring out the fruit notes in my Ethiopian Yirgacheffe like I was hoping, but it does make the coffee taste a lot better. I will continue buying.

Actually makes a notable difference
I'm genuinely surprised at the difference in flavor that this made. I use a moccamaster and good beans freshly ground on a Ode grinder...the coffee was already really good. This brought it up to on par with the best cafe drip coffee I've had. I strongly recommend it.

Plan Ahead - Try to Not Need it Immediately!
I've used two different profiles and find they definitely improve coffee flavor, as well as feeling of 'smoothness' or 'silkiness' in the mouth. The difference is sufficiently great that, once I started using Third Wave Water, I've never stopped. Now, I must keep an eye on the supply chain of distilled water - which turns out to be a bit erratic. Anyway, I have repeatedly noted that the crystals are very slow to dissolve - even with much agitation. I went so far as to take out a cup of distilled water from the new jug, heated it to near boiling, tried to dissolve the crystals and then re-introduce that hot cup with the crystals back into the entire gallon. No luck! Still nowhere near fully dissolved. With repeated observations, I find I must wait about two days at room temperature with occasional shaking of the jug to have reliable, full dissolution. In practice, this means I plan ahead so as to not let myself run out of usable Third Wave Water. If I'm going to the extra effort and expense, I want to have the full benefit - which is excellent. If I don't plan ahead, and start dissolving early, I wind up having my initial, partly-dissolved water too dilute and subsequent aliquots too concentrated. This is not really irksome. I used to brew using a manual espresso machine; a lot of effort for a cup of coffe. Now I use Nespresso pod-type machine. Much less work and mess. So, a small extra effort to have the best water, doesn't spoil it for me; just an additional step in the ฯฮญฯฮฝฮท of really good coffee

The best coffee I can make is with Third Wave Water
Wanting to take my homebrewing to the next level, I started using third wave packets on the suggestion of a local roaster. I was skeptical, and tested it against several other waters. All in all I compared: Third Wave classic profile Purified drinking bottled water Fiji natural spring bottled water Brita filtered water tap water I used a light roasted natural processed Columbian bean with roaster's notes of "raspberry, lime, cherry cordial", or in other words, fruity and acidic. I used the same manual pourover recipe with Kalita Wave for each water type. Overall the Third Wave packet mixed into a gallon of distilled water produced the best results and it really wasn't close. The cup had great vibrancy, acidity, fruitiness, and clarity of flavor. The Brita filtered tap water was the 2nd best, the cup had fair amounts of vibrancy and acidity, but really lacked any clear and distinguished fruity characteristics; it just tasted like a good acidic cup of coffee. In summary, third wave packets have basically ruined all other water for my coffee brewing at home. It's not the most affordable option (about $2.30 per gallon of water) but I mean we're also buying $20-30 twelve ounce bags of beans. Did we really get into specialty coffee to pinch pennies? If you want to take your coffee at home to the next level, and you enjoy dynamic light or medium roasted single origin beans, I'd recommend giving this a try.

Amazing stuff - just buy it.
This stuff is downright amazing. I was super skeptical, but the first time I did a taste test between my filtered water and Third Wave Water, the difference was unbelievable. Perhaps youโve had the same experience Iโve had - you have an amazing cup of coffee at a nice coffee shop, buy a bag, and then spend the next week disappointed because your home brew doesnโt taste anything like the cup you had in the shop. This product solves that problem. My home brew now tastes *exactly* like the coffee shop cup. You spend $16 on 12 oz of coffee - another buck for good water is cheap at twice the price. To speak to the negative reviews - this is not miracle water, and it will not change the taste profile of your cheap, bitter coffee. It is designed to bring out and highlight the flavor of the bean. Garbage in, garbage out. Yes - itโs true - it will make your Folgers or Green Mountain taste *even worse*. Guaranteed.

Mineral Taste
I find the 'Medium Roast Profile' to be much more balanced, even for light roasts. This just leaves a hint of a mineral aftertaste, which i find detracts from lingering browning flavors.

Makes a huge difference if you nerd out on your coffee
Makes a huge difference if you have your brewing technique completely dialled in. I take a pretty scientific approach to my pour over and this has been a game changer for me. I donโt think the benefits are as pronounced if you are not weighing your beans and measuring the precise amount of water you use and fine tuning your grind. Use distilled water (free of minerals) in conjunction with Third Wave to ensure you are benefitting from the optimal mineral profile (your tap / filtered water has minerals in it). Iโve been using this product for years now and notice a huge difference (coffee loses its brilliance and focus) when I do not use it. I hope this helps.

Will definitely continue to buy
Highly recommend to use for your light roasts. I end up splitting the pack into 2 4L jugs. Take 100ml for each big jug, pour 1 pack into that 200ml container - give it a good shake up or mix. Add the 100ml back to each jug. 1/2 strength of this stuff if perfect for me. I thought about Lotus drops or Apax but this is just so much easier.

Better Tasting Coffee
I'll be honest, I was honestly a little skeptic about a product like Third Wave Water and if it would really make that big of a difference to the taste and clarity of my coffee. Long story short, I now have a subscription for this product through Amazon. The point of Third Wave Water is it is the perfect mix of minerals to add to distilled water for making coffee. Having done a side-by-side comparison of coffee made with filtered water and a brew made with Third Wave Water, the difference is almost night and day. The filtered water coffee wasn't necessarily bad, but there is a clarity in the flavour profile of the coffee made with Third Wave Water that is truly incredible. If you are like me and enjoy buying and brewing coffee from speciality roasters and really want to get everything you can out of the beans, Third Wave Water will not disappoint you. Truly a game changer.

Better than RO water?
When compared to RO water, the difference is minimal. It tends to give the coffee a softer flavour; less harsh. Good but not significant compared to RO water

Improves your coffee
I purchased distilled water at Walmart for $1.17 a gallon then I added the third wave water and make my coffee. Much cleaner taste, the coffee tasted better u don't think I'll ever go back
