I’ve been using this banneton set for several months now, and I’m honestly impressed with the quality. The baskets are sturdy, beautifully handwoven, and give my sourdough loaves that perfect artisan shape and pattern. The liners are easy to clean, and the dough releases nicely without sticking. I also love that the kit comes with all the useful tools — the dough scrapers, scoring lame, and extra blades make the whole bread-making process so much easier, especially if you bake often. Everything feels well-made and thoughtfully packed. This set made my homemade bread look and feel much more professional. Great for beginners and experienced bakers alike. Definitely worth it if you enjoy baking sourdough at home!

Very nice quality (all parts included). The only thing I am not crazy about are the liners.... there are 3 seams going down the bowl and one circular one at the bottom. In my first bake, those showed a little after the cold fermentation. I am going to try using them without the liners next to see if I get that signature banneton ring appearance after bake. I would definitely buy again based on the quality of all items. (note that I dont know if other banneton liners are all sewn like this one... but for this one, I would like to see their next version have one with less seems.)

I am very much a beginner baker, but making sourdough from scratch has always been on my bucket list. After getting my starter going I opted for this bread proofing set based on other recommendations. In the photos below, it's only my second loaf. So far, I've enjoyed the bread baking tools. I love the proofing baskets, the tight straw bowl is pretty and functional, and the cloth liners are of good quality. The bread dough doesn't stick at all. My favorite tool is the lame with the little leather cover for safety. All of these items seem built to last, and they'll need to be because this bread was delicious. I plan on making a lot more!

So, I love sourdough, and I've wanted to do it for years. Life, school, and the fact that my mother had tried and failed at it (with me witnessing), a few times ended up with me putting it off. Finally, stuck inside thanks to the great plague (aka Covid) happening right now, I decided it was the perfect time to not have to go buy bread. For a baker trying Sourdough Bread for the first time? This is perfect! I was a little worried at the size of the baskets when I first saw them with my inexperienced eyes, but yeah, they're perfectly sized for making loaves that most sourdough recipes call for. The two Bannetons smelt and looked nice, and they, when floured (I used white rice flour), let the dough come out very easily and nicely with no need for cleaning and with the lovely rings on them. They came with the two banneton covers, even though I honestly only expected one cover to come (the description wasn't clear, so that's good to know!), however I haven't used them yet because the bannetons themselves work just fine. The Bannetons also seem durable, though obviously I haven't been abusing them. I use the extremely useful plastic scraper for getting the dough out of the bowl and onto the counter to start kneading, (Or when it's time to punch it down), and the metal scraper is the perfect strength and durability to use on the counter. The description has said that the plastic scraper is also for getting it out of the banneton, but I haven't needed to use it for that at all (With a well floured banneton, it's never been an issue for me). The lame has worked great so far. I've not yet had to change the blade, even though I've played around with it. It looks easy to replace, and the leather cover is nice. The curved blade is a bit odd to cut straight lines with, but I've never used a lame before, so I dont' know if that's a brand specific thing or what all lame's look like. Either way, the handle is nice and feels good in the hand. It's a great kit, with everything, (except the jar for the starter), that you need to get started on sourdough bread. Are there better quality ones out there? The pieces, individually, I'm sure you can find better quality ones out there. But honestly? They are all good quality, and for a first time sourdough baker who isn't sure exactly what style/feel they prefer quite yet? This kit is perfect and has everything (except the jar.) that they need to get started. My mother ended up buying a different banneton that didn't include everything in this kit, and I think she regrets it. 10/10, would, and have, referred others to this.

Are they supposed to smell? The bannetons are great in size and functional. The basket covers are easy to remove and wash. But are the rattan bannetons baskets supposed to smell? They have a strong rancid sour odor that I just cannot remove. Everything else is great and easy to use. It is a great set for those of us starting our sourdough bread journey. It would get a 5 star if it was not for that smell.

This is a must have if you are a sourdough connoisseur. As a new sourdough baker this is a great investment. The size is perfect for my recipe and gives me two perfect loaves every time.

Really happy with this set. It had everything I needed to make good sourdough. The bannetons and their covers were very good quality. I loved the bench scraper so much I ended up getting rid of my previous one. It’s sharp for cutting the dough and feels substantial and well made in your hands. I found it comfortable and easy to use when shaping the dough. The lame was so incredibly sharp I barely felt it slicing through the dough. (Be careful when handling this lame because I could definitely see it slicing clean through a finger.) I appreciated that it came with extra blades and a nice leather cover for the blade. I also love the natural/wood look of the whole set. It looks beautiful and well made, and doesn’t detract from the aesthetic of my kitchen when they’re sitting on my counter.

Hasn’t been used yet but she was so excited and then her stepdad also received one for Christmas. Great quality 2 very happy gifts from Santa.

Everything in this package is well constructed. The metal scraper and plastic bowl scraper are sturdy. The scoring lame came with stainless steel blades and hold up under pressure. I previously ordered a scoring lame from another company. It arrived with flimsy blades that fell apart when I used it. Thanks Kook for making good quality wares.

I had to return it because I asked for it round and they sent me a pack with the oval-shaped banetones. it looked good quality. I will order it again when the return arrives.
