This was the largest cooler I could find that fit my build. i9-13900T (35TDP) in a 2U server case, using thermal paste ID Cooling Frost X45. 18 hour burn-in (so far) with CPU averaging 100% With the little 92x15mm fan in the default "downward push" position and running at 100% (2459rpm) it's audible, but the CPU temp has remained relatively cool and steady at 69° Celsius. The fan is inaudible at normal rpms, by the way. This is the smallest cooler I have ever used, but so far I'm quite happy

For those who need better cooling in a Mini ITX system, this is the cooler you're looking for!
This CPU cooler is probably the best choice on the market for anyone trying to cool a performance processor in a Mini ITX case like my Cooler Master Elite 130. Initially, I was scared away from this by the height of this cooler because my case specs said I only had 65 mm of clearance, but the true clearance is probably around 75 mm so this cooler fits just right under the PSU. Keep in mind, these will cool the S or T series Intel chips phenomenally, but for K processors like my i5-4690k, you are going to be seeing warmer temps, even though they are reasonable if you really can't fit a bigger tower cooler. Performance (4/5): I idle between 35-40 degrees C with an i5-4690k OC'ed @ 4.0 GHz. Load on The Witcher 3 with my GTX 970 adding some heat to the case is <= 72 degrees C. A torture test I ran using EVGA OC Scanner reached 90 degrees C after 10 minutes, which is worrying but still under TJMax and well out of normal use case. Keep in mind, this test pegs all four cores at 4 GHz, 100% load. Compared to stock hitting 100 after 3 minutes, the cooler does a much better job but still won't perform miracles. Expect ~70-75 degrees with heavy load from a normal application or game and good case ventilation. The fan is rated at 2500 RPM but mine is showing up to 3000 on SpeedFan. I switched from the stock cooler to the NH-L9i and then to this, and I am generally seeing around 10 degrees cooler temps with this versus those two, and I had the thicker 25 mm fan for the NH-L9i as well. I have no concerns with the temperatures I am seeing, though I would not consider upping my overclock beyond 4.2 GHz, and probably will just let it sit at 4 GHz. Installation (5/5): You will need access to the back of the motherboard for initial installation, but after that you can remove the heatsink and reseat it just from the front. The mount is solidly built and does a great job of simplifying the process of securing the heatsink once you've applied your thermal paste. On other coolers, you have to try hard to center over the processor and tighten 4 points at once. This cooler only requires two connections to the mounting bracket, is easy to align, and is very solid once it is secured. The thermal paste is top notch. Remember to aim for lentil size in the middle! The included Low Noise Adapter and screwdriver round out the package. There are mounts for LGA 2011, LGA 115x, and AMD sockets included. It truly is a universal cooler for modern processors. The included fan locks to the cooler securely, and the fan cable is sturdy and was definitely long enough. This cooler is even lighter than the NH-L9i so it shouldn't flex the motherboard much if at all. Overall, this was a very quick and sturdy installation. Noise (4/5): Definitely noticeable at 100%, but not obtrusive. At 70% or so, the fan is basically silent in the case along with the case fans. At idle, you'll get about the same acoustic performance as the stock cooler. At load, the Noctua is quieter than stock, but a slight acoustic tone is introduced by the 14 mm fan. This is acceptable in my opinion, but people that require absolute silence may want to limit the fan curve or install the Low Noise Adapter at the cost of extra heat. I have not noticed any extra vibration or wind noises in the case. In conclusion, the noise goes from nonexistent to acceptable, which is a triumph for a part that is optimized for size and cooling at the same time as noise. Build Quality (5/5): My shipping box came with a corner dented in. Thanks UPS. Luckily, the Noctua packaging was well designed and the cooler was in good condition, no bent fins or anything. The fan is very well made. The heatsink felt a bit fragile but normal handling definitely won't bend fins or make you worry about breaking it. Just don't drop the heatsink and it will be just fine. The fins are much thinner than the NH-L9i or the Intel stock cooler. I'm guessing this helps performance somehow or reduces the necessary static pressure from the fan. The contact plate was covered with a plastic shield but I had some dust under the shield. A quick wipe with 99% iso was all that was needed to get it completely clear of dust. I would definitely not trust the shield to replace a pre-installation cleaning. Instructions were clear and to the point. There is enough thermal paste for probably 4 overeager applications and a fifth, lentil-sized drop. If you look up reviews of this thermal paste, it is one of the best out there and you get enough to mess up a few times and still have some left over. Overall, this cooler is a premium product through and through. Final Thoughts: If you are considering this for anything but a space-restricted setup, you should look elsewhere. Noctua's other coolers and even the cheap Cooler Master 212 will generally perform better. This product is specifically for small cases with limited cooler clearance and people that prioritize noise and performance over price. For what it is, it's a godsend. Now you can use your hot Haswell chips in a Mini-ITX case with even a mild overclock! I have tried other coolers, including the Intel stock cooler and the Noctua NH-L9i with a fan upgrade, and this one is hands down the best performing. That said, the stock cooler will work for most people, so the value proposition of this cooler only makes sense if you need cooler temps or lower noise at minimal height and don't mind the premium pricing. You get what you pay for with this product, and with the 6 year warranty and superb build quality along with promises to send you brackets for new sockets, this cooler may just last you through two builds. I'm giving this 5 stars even though my average is 4.5 because for those who specifically need to cool their performance CPUs in a small case, this is the perfect product. For others with more clearance, I would probably give this a 4 star and urge you to save money or get better performance with the bigger Noctua coolers or the CM Hyper-212.

Wow! Just Wow!
This cooler exceeds all my expectations. Install was a breeze, possibly the easiest cpu cooler install I've ever done. Dropped temps by up to 50% at idle and under load. So quiet I can't even hear it. I have 3x120mm and 3x80mm fans in my mid tower InWin case and I never realized it was the CPU cooler making the most noise. Amazing upgrade. On first impressions, I'm very glad I decided to try a Noctua product. With this little beast installed, I'm running 20-25c at idle and running TW WarHammer at ultra settings on a 980GTX 4GB in a massive campaign I'm barely tipping 50c under load. That's still 25% or more less temp than the stock fan did brand new with Arctic's best avail thermal paste. ( I used the included NT-H1 paste since my order of the MX-4 paste was delayed in being shipped out. I'll send it back I guess. I figured if Noctua included this paste, they trust it. Was a full 4g tube.) I had a 6 year old stock intel cooler for my i5-2500k I OC'd about `15% with no issues of any kind for all those years but lately was not performing well at all keeping my CPU around 40-50c at idle and up to 81c under load. The fan was no longer revving up with the Asus AI Suite controls or manual control (ROG Gene-IV Maximus). Recently it became a bit sluggish, and more recently it began to set off temp alerts. Was going to try a Corsair Hydro H60 but as much as I had to bend the hoses to fit into location in my case I felt the connections were going to be stressed so decided against it and issued an RMA. With the lack of actual pressure inside the cooling system I'm not sure why high pressure hoses are used...they are quite stiff. Should be able to accomplish the same thing with a high strength, thin walled, and highly-flexible tubing for roughly the same price. Definitely going to Install one of Noctuas supersize coolers in my upcoming i7-7700k build instead of going liquid. More peace of mind and obviously outstanding cooling technology. Sure wish the fans had color options though. I don't look inside a lot but these colors certainly don't fit anything I've ever put into a PC case in almost 30 years of building PC's. *yeah, all the way back to when RAM was measured in MB! :o I'd paint them but that's not a long-term solution. The slightest amount of weight off center throws the fans a bit out of balance and shortens their life a great deal. I'll let it work as intended and sit comfy with that amazing 6 year warranty.

A cool cooler
This cooler does what it says. It's inexpensive with Austrian quality and reliability. When running at full speed the cooler makes a slightly high pitch noise that I don't enjoy, but the fan rarely needs to spin at maximum. Be sure to mount the cooler per instructions. With the Intel LGA you need to align the support bars exactly or you won't get a good contact with the CPU. The fan speed is not usually super high and doesn't need to be as the heatsink does a good job at heat dissipation under normal loads. I only notice high fan speed when running benchmarks like Cinebench R24 or Geekbench. Some comments on performance and how I configured the rest of my system. 1) The PC is a home-build using Intel Core i7-14700 CPU. ARC A750 GPU on an ASUS ROG Strix B760-I ITX Motherboard. 2) I recently upgraded the PSU from a very poor performing Silverston SFX-L 550W model to probably the gold standard (literally 80+ Gold certifed) Corsair SF750 750W PSU. (this is an awesome PSU by the way) 3) The PC is built into a Iqunix ZX-1 mini case. All black case. 4) I ran this PC with no other case fans for a while... don't do this. It will work, but the Noctua cooler will have to work a lot harder, your CPU will run hotter and the noise will bug you over time. 5) After some months of running without case fans I added a couple of Antec 120mm fans to the top of the case drawing air up and out. This made a huge difference in temps. Some thoughts on noise and performance: 1) In general use I never hear any of the fans any more. 2) When the NH-L9x65 is running at 50% or less, I can't hear it at all over ambient noise. 3) At around 70% I can head the NH-L9x65 but it is not obtrusive (when I run most games, the fan is usually less than 70%) 4) At full speed, the fan is quite loud and buzzy. If fan noise bothers you and you intend to run your CPU hard, consider a large cooler with a 120mm fan. I rarely have the fan running at 100% unless I am running a long running benchmark like Cinebench. 5) Shorter running benchmarks like Geekbench 6 never get the CPU cooler fan over 80%. 6) Temperatures: When running office apps, Visual Studio, Anaconda or other developmetn tools the CPU temps rarely get above 60C. Usually between 50 and 60C. When running games like FIFA24 or Forza Horizon CPU temps are in the mid 60s or so If I run a long running benchmark like Cinebench24 multithreading test I will easily hit 100C and thermal throttle. I don't expect a fan to keep up with 20 cores on the 14th gen i7. If I wanted to run at 100% for a long time, I would have gotten a water cooler. I am a little pissed at myself for not noticing that Noctua also sells an All-black version of this cooler. I would have gotten that since my PC is pretty much pure black in every way... except for the Noctua colored fan and chrome heat sink. The all-black version of the same cooler is $10 more unfortunately (I guess black paint is more expensive?) The printed instructions are excellent. Perfect English from the Austrians. 😂

Easy to install, VERY quiet with included adapter, improved thermals under load.
Purchased to replace the stock heatsink that came with Intel Core i7-8700 for noise reduction because the stock fan sounded like a weed whacker in the distance when CPU temp rose under load. Instructions were very easy to follow. Parts were all labeled and keyed in such a way that it would be very difficult or impossible to install the wrong way. Noctua fan is extremely quiet with the low-noise adapter. 100% speed reports 1800 RPM, and it is barely audible while still moving plenty of air. Idle temperatures unchanged. (36C) Improved temperatures under load! Peak temperatures during CPU-Z bench test dropped from 98C to 76C. No difference in benchmark performance score, but gives a good 25C of overhead before thermal throttling occurs. The build quality of the Noctua heatsink looks and feels fantastic next to the dinky aluminum sink that came with the CPU. Slightly taller, same footprint, but so much more surface area for heat removal. Fit into Antec VSK2000-U3 Micro ATX case with 1-2cm clearance with case door. Could probably fit a 25mm thick fan on there if desired; there is a higher set of notches on the heatsink, presumably for the clips to hold a non-slim fan. But the slim fan that comes with the set is quiet and performs well, as expected of Noctua products. Modular fan interface is nice. Will be an easy replacement if ever needed. (If only GPU fan systems would do the same.)

Recommend for tight builds with limited space otherwise go mid to full size CPU cooling solution.
Okay had this CPU for 2 years now and overall recommend to other purchasers. Here is the main thing to take note of with this cooler. It will run a little warmer than others BUT when the CPU begins to run hot from being stressed this cooler will do an excellent job of maintaining CPU temperature within manufacturer's limits. The case is an older CM model 110 for itx motherboard (very compact). There is a 1060 3 GB graphics card, i5 4690, GA-H81 motherboard, 1 2.5 HDD and 1 SSD allowing only for the supplied stock fan positioned in the front for cooling. Intel states that 72.72 degrees C is the maximum operating temperature. Using the Noctua under normal use I range in the mid 50 degrees centigrade. Truth be told never really push it for an extended time so the cooling characteristics meet my requirements. Both the stock fan and some other (recognized manufacturer) were hotter than this by as much as 10 degrees centigrade so to my mind worth the money. If anyone is wondering about the build itself, great! I bring it with me when I travel for longer periods of time and works well. Primary duty is work related and HTPC running Linux. Swapped the GT-730 for a 1060 3 GB and serves as a decent mid range gaming system as well. I am in the process of swapping the case from the CM 110 to a CM 130. With all of the equipment I have in there the build is very tight and I believe overall cooling will benefit from the swap.Also now I travel with a Brix and Fire Stick which is even smaller and still meets my business needs if not personal (mid-level gaming). Purchased 4690 a few months after current Intel CPUs came out for $170.00, a steal. Nowadays costs considerably more so would not recommend.

Top Notch Air CPU cooler.
Everything about this CPU cooler is top notch. From the packaging to the solid construction of the cooler itself. I bought this cooler with the rest of my skylake build because the reviews were top notch and I was not interested in building a liquid cooled system. Noctua spared no expense with this cooler (and their others, I'm sure). The packaging was solid. The directions were printed on quality paper. All components were wrapped up separately (AMD components / Intel Components). The directions on the nice paper were precise and very clear. Everything about this cooler was top notch. Exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be buying this brand of cooler again. I am currently running everything below at stock speeds. I have the option to overclock but have yet to do so. Some specs: Motherboard: ASUS Z170 Premium CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K RAM: Corsair Dominator (Total: 16GB - 8GB X 2 @ 3000 MHz) GPU: EVGA GTX 970 SSC (stock - not overclocked) Case: Thermatake X31 with just the 2 stock fans running at max This Noctua Cooler - Fan speed at max Currently it holds the CPU temp around 23 - 32 degrees Celsius (Closer to 30 consistently) under a light to normal load (Currently I have 3 Firefox browser tabs open along with Photoshop & CPUID HWMonitor) This is a pretty common load for me. I have yet to put the CPU under any extra stress, so I will have to update that later when it is under a more stressful load. I do quite a bit of HD video re-encoding so the next time I do that, I can update my temps for you. Hope that helps. After an hour of sitting idle, it is still holding a temp of around 30 degrees Celsius. UPDATE (4.4.2016) Over this last weekend I compressed a Blu Ray disc from a double layer to a single layer (movie only... no extras) which is pretty CPU intensive. Had all the cores maxed out. This cooler (plus the 2 that came with the case kept the CPU at around 75 degrees Celsius. While probably within an acceptable range, I do not like the temps to remain there for prolonged periods of time. Looks like I might have to add a couple of additional fans to circulate the air a bit better. Still a top notch cooler in my opinion. Even with the fan at max it does not make too much noise in my opinion. I will try and update again when I have added a couple of extra fans.

Very quiet, high quality - but equally high effort to install
I bought this item to replace a stock Intel heatsink/fan combo that is about 6 years old now, and the notorious whirring sounds at this point could be heard from about 20 feet away. First off, I will admit that I did not research the installation process in advance - I primarily bought the item based on very favorable reviews and the quiet feature. Upon opening the box and seeing all the various parts, I realized the installation was going to be a little bit more involved than the Intel stock equipment. The metal parts were heavy and had the look and feel of "very high quality". The plastic parts of the fan didn't quite give me the same impression, but what's most important for fans is the internals, especially for the quiet operation. I was a little disappointed that I had to dismount my motherboard completely to install the rear mounting bracket (again didn't research this prior but was hoping this would be a quick 15-20 minute job instead of 45). After getting everything installed, I realized how much of an improvement it is over stock. Installation was straightforward, and especially if you are comfortable building PC's; just time consuming. Parts lined up well, fit well, screwed in smoothly, etc. PROS: Very high quality Very quiet Comes with a tube of thermal compound Instructions are easy to follow Includes very handy screwdriver (my "go to" screwdriver did not fit through the fan/heatsink) CONS: Expensive Need to completely remove motherboard Could be a little tricky if you're not familiar/comfortable with PC assembly Bundles different parts to mount AMD or Intel (while some may call this a "PRO" I have a LOT of extra parts that I paid for but don't need)

Uno dei dissipatori migliori a questo prezzo, forse non il più bello esteticamente, ma esiste anche la versione black per davvero pochi euro in più. Silenziosissimo, e rispetto al dissipatore stock a carico massimo ho in media poco più di 10 gradi in meno. Può essere utilizzato anche per un leggero overclock della cpu in qualche caso, ma per l'overclock si dovrebbe comprare il noctua che sta al doppio del prezzo e se si ha un case/scheda madre che consento il montaggio, è ingombrante. Io l'ho montato su una gigabyte z370, ci entra benissimo. Consiglio di montarlo in 2 persone, e se non avete il case aperto dietro, e avete già montato il pc, dovete smontare tutto, siccome ha la "griglia"dietro. Montaggio spiegato passo per passo davvero molto bene in un comodissimo e piccolo libretto di istruzioni. in oltre nel pacco sono inclusi anche il cacciavite e pasta termica della noctua, non la migliore in assoluto, ma comunque è davvero molto buona. Assolutamente consigliato come prodotto, silenziosità e basse temperature, uno dei migliori best buy, se non vi interessano colori e lucine, ma una dissipazione che funziona davvero.

Everything is missing.. the toolkit was missing.. the screws were missing.. the cooler was used and had a thermal compound on it.. the thermal compound itself was missing ..n the main Mount was missing.. it shipped from Calcutta XRIG sales ..

Silencieux et très efficace. Facile et rapide à monter.
Acheté pour remplacer le ventilateur de base qui avait beaucoup de mal à garder mon i5-10400F en dessous de 80°C en pleine charge, et donc entraînait un bridage pour stabiliser la température. Montage très facile mais attention parfois le socle de maintien du refroidisseur est soudé à la carte mère. Sur ma P03-600 de chez Acer c'était le cas. Pas de panique, il suffit d'acheter 4 vis à têtes cylindriques M3 0.5x12 pour fixer le bloc. Montage ultra facile et rapide. Les résultats sont très impressionnants, 70°C en pleine charge (ce qui arrive rarement maintenant, puisqu'il n'y a plus de bridage), sinon je tourne en moyenne à 50°C. Mon système est à 21°C. Très compact il est vraiment super bien pensé et son ventilateur est très silencieux. Noctua mérite très largement sa si bonne réputation.
