I have an AUSTRALIAN labradoodle with a wavy coat. I'm considering these clippers for home grooming. What else to get in addition to the clippers?

doulble k 401 looks perfect and i see someone said something about scissors below. all i can say is be very, very careful. i have seen someone cut clean thru a dogs chest before. never pull the hair away from the dog and cut with scissors. just dump the scissors all together unless you are a professional. the clippers will take care of the face just fine.

Do the blades get hot fast,I have seen this mentioned on other less known sites

Yes, the blades do warm up quickly, but they cool quickly also. using a hot blade can burn your pet & ruin the bade. DO NOT USE WD-40 or CAR OIL! that will definitely RUIN the blade & the clipper. Only use clipper oil and proper blade cleaner and coolant. They aren't expensive. I have standard poodles, who have gotten matted. Will these clippers work on that type of thick coat? Cheaper clippers are useless.

Yes. These are NOT cheap clippers. Be sure to get some cooling spray, as the blade gets hot on big jobs. You'll find yourself grooming them regularly once you have these. And on two standard poodles, they're less expensive than a grooming trip for your pups. But these clippers cut through mats like butter.
