Most useful to keep your unit vertical rather than flat when connected to PC
First off the speakers absolutely suck big time. No bass or depth coming out of them. Think of the sound that a homemade Radio Shack-project type radio would make if you built one yourself. So if you're buying it for the speaker, fuhgetaboutit. Despite this, I do like that fact that it allows me to keep the unit vertical rather than laying on my desk while it's connected to my PC for downloading/charging. Keeps me from damaging it by putting other stuff on top of it. The thing is though, the text on the screen is best read with the unit horizontal so you have to bend your head to read what's on the screen when it's in the cradle. Overall, I don't think it's worth the price. If I had to do it over again I would not have bought it unless it was like $10 or something, because that's what it's worth.

Clix
The IRiver Clix is an enjoyable product that functions satisfactorily. The dispay is bright and vivid. The sound quality is good enough. I recommend it with the caveat that there are few accessories for it. I bought the cradle and find it unworthy of the materials and time it took to produce it. This is my first MP3 player, so, I am not able to compare. I can tell you this: It took a long time to install 465 songs on it and some of the songs have little glitches. Some of the songs "skip" in certain places. I find this not very irritating, some would hate it. The action for navigation is a pleasure. Just click a side. It is that easy. Another thing, I had to return the first one after less than two months. It quit coming on. Amazon sent me another one immediately along with a free return lable. Still, it was very annoying. I had to charge it and then reinstall all my music. So far, less than a month, the replacement is working fine.

iriver 7clixcrd Cradle fir Clix Gen2
iriver 7CLIxCRD Cradle for Clix Gen2 This cradle design is unique which is what caught my in the first place. It is well made, However, after receiving it, I have found that functionally, it does not do much. In fact, you cannot attach AC power (power pack not included) and an external speaker system simultaneously. This was the main reason I bought it. The mono speaker at the base has mediocre audio quality at best. A major disappointment. I do not recommend it.

Underpowered & Unimpressed
I bought the cradle for my Clix thinking that it would serve as a great mobile speaker system and let me share my podcasts with small groups. Unfortunately, it became painfully clear that this would not be the case. On maximum volume, sitting 2 feet away from the speaker, I can barely hear the audio, let alone enjoy it. There is absolutely no low end or bass, and the high end that does come through (voice) is weak and difficult to make out unless in a quiet environment. Don't purchase for portable speakers; it's only value comes from keeping your Clix from laying down on the table.

What's it for?
As far as I can tell it does three things. You can charge your iriver with it. But you can do that with your USB cable. You can listen to your iriver through your headphones hooked up to it. But you can just plug them into your iriver. Finally it has very tinny speakers. They are pretty bad.

Doesn't add much functionality to the Clix.
If you're thinking this cradle will add some functionality to your Clix Gen2 player... it won't. For starters, charging the cradle (which has it's own internal battery) in addition to the Clix (you can charge both at the same time with one cable), is still done through your computer via USB. Secondly, the external speaker is very quiet. A volume level of 10 (out of 40) is plenty for typical listening at work or home with (low quality) headphones. However, you'll need to increase the volume to near 40 in order to get an equivilent volume level out of the speaker. So... what does the cradle do well? Well... if you flip the screen orientation to 270 degrees, it makes for a neat stand while it charges... instead of laying flat on your desk. Is that worth money you'll spend on it? "Outlook not so good."

Save your Money-Worthless Accessory
Let me first say I love my iriver and would highly recommend it, but I could do with out and actually wish I never bought this cradle. It does nothing special, it will charge it but you still have to use your computer so what is the difference? You can play music through a 1 watt mono speaker, the product comes with stereo headphones so why use a speaker. I should have done more research before using the one click feature!
