Best tool ever

I ordered this tool as an open box/ used item. Its performed well and although its about the same size as the XR, the Atomic line of tools from Dewalt are a bit more compact than the XR line. This tool does everything you want an oscillating tool to do. Cuts wood, plastic, light metal, wood w/ nails and drywall. Use mine mostly to cut drywall or cabinets. Runs great and realistic to use a 2ah battery on it too.

Okay. Keep in mind that I'm no pro toolman. I'm an amateur toolman at best. That being said, I have one (and only one) issue with this oscillating tool. The blade can't get to where I need it to go sometimes because of where the on/off paddle is. That can be tricky to maneuver around. But outside of that single thing, I love this tool. It's powerful. It'll cut with precision, somewhat quickly, and without failure. With the right blades, I don't think I'd have a problem doing fairly large scale building with just this and a drill. Again, I'm an amateur. So don't trust much of my review.

What a dangerously versatile tool this is. Do you need to read more? I'm messing with a lot of interior doors, door jambs, hardwood floor patching where door framing used to be, and shaping of hollow doors to fit weird old house framing. This oscillating tool has been there for all of it and I'm not sure I COULD have done it without this tool. Maybe that was my moment to back off and think more about whether I SHOULD but here the Dewalt tools were, whispering "Do it!".

Bought to assist me in my deck sanding project as some nooks and crannies were otherwise unreachable. My honest take is its a great tool, but the single trigger is a bit hard to get used to. This is more old school in that as you pull the trigger harder it ramps up to the next speed. Thats ok but impossible to regulate. If i had to do it again, i woukd buy the 3 spped option that holds the speed based on where the selector is set.not the fault of the tool just my personql preference.

I bought into the Dewalt system years ago with the impact/drill bundle deal and have slowly been adding since. This was the tool I was most hesitant about. For one, I already have a multitool. I've had a corded Dremel multitool that Ive used a lot for about 8 years, and I've never really loved it. Secondly I never had a trigger activated multitool and I didn't think that I'd prefer that over the switch. Thirdly, I read/watched many multitool comparisons that said the Milwaukee was better. Ultimately, I disliked my Dremel enough (the switch would turn off from vibration of the tool was ultimately what pushed me toward replacement), and I wasn't going to switch battery platforms for an occasional use tool, so I purchased this. I've only done a small amount of electrical work with this, but I am pleasantly surprised on all fronts. It turns out I really like the trigger much more than I thought I would. Being able to control the speed with my trigger finger really helps me start cuts or end them instantly, and no accidentally turning a speed dial mid cut. I also found the form factor to be much better than I expected. The Dremel was so fat in my hand I never felt like I had great control over it, but this tool I really like the comfortable narrow grip and feel like I can be much more precise. This tool is also much quieter with less vibration than the dremel. Last but not least, the blade change on this tool was shockingly easy. The dremel lever used to snap back and pinch my fingers if I wasn't careful and I hated changing blades.
