Kerr 0519 wide mouth jar quart, 32oz (case of 12)

I was a little leery of ordering these because of the large number of reviews saying that they had arrived broken. I was less concerned about the reviews saying that there were stickers on the lids that were difficult to remove. The jars I ordered arrived about a week after ordering them (meaning that they were shipped promptly). They arrived intact... no cracks as far as I can tell. There are no labels of any kind on the glass or the lids. All seems fine. They're the product I wanted and were delivered promptly. So I'm giving them five stars. Two small caveats: 1) I'm old enough to remember when jars of this sort seemed unusually thick and sturdy. These appear thinner and more fragile than the ones I remember. However, unless they start breaking, I'm going to assume that they're fine. It could be that the quality of the glass has improved, making thin glass stronger than it used to be. So it doesn't feel fair to take any points off; I'm still giving them five stars. 2) There was no padding in the box to absorb shocks and prevent breakage. Most companies would do something like place the box they're packed in inside of a larger box, then put padding around the smaller one before shipping. The fact that this was not done may be why so many people are complaining about them arriving broken. The fact that they arrives with no cracks or breaks may be more about luck than proper preparation on the part of the seller. But again –– my order arrived intact, with no jars broken. So I'm not taking any points off. The box was marked FRAGILE in large block letters, so Fed-Ex must have been handling it accordingly.

Short story of purchase: We went to a BBQ place a few weeks ago and they brought our soft drinks in the 32oz. Kerr jars. We all thought it was a great idea, so we thought we'd get some for our home for the same reason, nevermind our last name is Kerr... Anyways, we received these jars and they're sturdy, big, and really cool. For the most part we'll use the jars for our drinks, but my wife has already talked about using the jars for their intended purpose. Regardless of how they're used, the jars will hold quite a bit of whatever is put in them. The Kerr jars have a good repuation of being a quality product, so I know that they'll be just fine in any matter we use them.

I don’t know what’s going on here but it’s lame. I’ve bought these before. The jars themselves are great. This pack option isn’t what’s advertised. Image shows 12 hard shrink wrapped in a tray, like what you’d get at a local store. Item arrived in a case, no shrink wrap, and individually labeled with -00529 UPC labels. These are individual sale labels. The labels suck and fall apart as soon as you try to remove them. 12 perfect little headaches. I love Kerr, I love Ball, mason jars are great and I use them daily. This just isn’t the right option to order and is way more trouble than it’s worth.

These jars are really beautiful. They took a little bit longer than I was expecting with prime, but I guess they are heavy so I won't complain about it too much. It was a bummer to learn that they are sold in stores for $10 less. I tried to cancel my order the morning after but the seller wouldn't let me (lol). + They are very very nice. I love them so much, they are exactly what I wanted. + None of them arrived broken for me. - More expensive but they'll be delivered to your house so idk if that's worth it for some people!

Though I might get into canning some goods... I knew I didn't need 12 jars, but figured it would be nice in case I broke any, or if there were any defects, etc. I can tell you one thing, these jars are built to last. Kerr makes some of the best. The seal is great, and they are very reasonably priced. Would definitely purchase again

Okay, I first began my search looking for the smaller sized jars made by Kerr; it was the 8oz jars. I read a review on Amazon on those jars stating that they were overpriced. That; the same jars could be found much cheaper at Walmart. I also read an argument saying that the Ball quality from Wal-Mart was not the same and of a lower quality. I am here to confirm that the quality is great and are exactly the same at a much cheaper price. BTW; (I own the 8oz and 160z Ball Jars and I honestly don't see any significant difference in the quality..? I think the Kerr glass is a tad thicker but the Ball quality is awesome. They are both great, I don't know why the higher price on Kerr. Referring now to the Kerr 32oz. Jars; I saw these almost identical jars JARS at a local K-MART for $10.79. It hurts, oh it hurts (sigh) :) They did have the Ball name instead of Kerr; but make no mistake they are the same. My eyes have been opened a little more about amazon. I use to think they were the price to beat. They definitely have the majority of the best prices and great customer service but I would still shop around first. Lastly, If it seems too high it just might be...:) Anyway don't make the same mistake as me. Shop around. A few times now, I have seen many a product cheaper elsewhere. "Don't get me wrong" Amazon is still my top online store, but I am much more careful now, before I add something to my cart. :) Update- ********** 7/21/14 ************ "Everyone's a critic :)" In response to a comment; I do believe this is the appropriate place to comment on the price. I wish someone had made a comment about them being a whole lot cheaper somewhere else before I purchased them here. If you can afford to impulse buy , I say, " More power to you " I'm happy for you :). However, if you are like me and bargain shop for good prices on quality items you would appreciate knowing that these can be purchase a lot cheaper elsewhere. I'm just saying ;). I do agree that I did not review the actual item. I was upset at the time because I thought then that amazon was the automatic lowest price. I didn't know , so sue me. :). This then is for those who don't have an alternative place to purchase them or don't care about paying a little more. (BTW there is a Kmart.com) wink wink..;) ******* I love the jars, lol. Pricing aside, the jars are really a good quality and I have used them for soup stocks and many other things. A tip though is, they are not suppose to go in the freezer. The smaller ones, (8 & 16oz),can I believe , but I looked this up and it was not recommended to use these in the freezer? (Plus I believe it was printed on the box by a small freezer icon with a slash through it). I know a little surprising but I paid heed and have avoided using them for that purpose but use them for everything else. Please let us know if someone has read otherwise :). Compre 3 cajas de estos frascos y solo me llego una porque estaban agotados y esa única caja llego rota, solo 1 frasco venía completo pero no se si muy rallado por todos los demás vidrios o si también estaba estrellado. En fin, Amazon me devolvió mi dinero pero me quede esperando por las otras dos cajas que jamás llegaron aún cuando volvieron a estar disponibles, supongo que por el precio me cancelaron el pedido. Lo compre a $270 Aún así, recomiendo esta marca de frascos para envasar o almacenar alimentos, es muy buena.
