Can I use it on an old mahogany deck? Do I have to sand first?

Can this stain be painted over with a solid stain type. I wish to use it as a preservative undercoat.

Will this product protect my wood windows that have been fully sanded down exterior? They receive almost no direct sunlight.

It is an oil based product and will protect. I have used it on a cedar fence I made and on cedar outdoor benches, and have found that they turn black over time. Don't think I'll use it anymore.
