In New York Times bestselling artist Nikki McClureโs charming board book, one little boy canโt wait for summer to arrive. The boy keeps asking, โMama, is it summer yet?โ Mama responds saying, โNot yet,โ but there are plenty of signs that indicate spring is changing into summer: The earth is soft and there are seeds to plant, birds singing, ducklings in the pond, and pink blossoms blooming. The young boy even wears his bathing suit and carries a beach pail in preparation, but will it ever be summer? The text is a wonderful celebration of the change of seasons and showcases Nikki McClureโs images of nature and the joys of family and community. โStriking cut-paper artwork balances beautifully with McClureโs gentle, almost old-fashioned text . . . This thoroughly pleasing board book offers young readers an opportunity to absorb themselves in the simple, hopeful gifts of the seasons.โ โShelf Awareness Review: Beautiful all around - I love McClure's illustrations, and this book is no exception. It's a lovely treasure for little ones. Review: Fun book with quotable line and seasonal illustrations - Mama, is it summer yet. Not yet my little one.... I love children's books where there is a level of repetition that lets a young listener follow along, but also distinct differences that are key to the story. We often quote these lines in our family, particularly when it is not summer yet. (10 degrees outside and snowing - Mama, is it summer yet???). The illustrations are also great. The color scheme is fun to follow. We've given this one out as a gift to other families with young children as well.

Cute!
Short and sweet story with unique art! I was a bit disappointed that for 8$ I got a dirty library book- I cleaned it but the library sticker is there for good, at least my son won't care!

Great Springtime/Early Summer read for youngins
Remember when you were little and wanted so terribly to just run out and feel the sun on your face? Well this book certainly brings back those memories. There are beautiful pictures between a mother and her child as he continues to ask if its summer yet. I bought this story for my 18 month old and already the easy phrasing has him "reading" the book himself. Nikki McClure has become my favorite children's author/illustrator. Anything with her name on it is a sure 5 star read for both adults and children alike.

On my granddaughter's wish list
My 2.5 yr old granddaughter checked this book out of the library and then didn't want to bring it back so it got added to her Amazon wish list. I can see why. Sweet story, reflects the way children think about things. Great art work.

Great book for mama and baby
A lovely and sweet story that we can all relate to as we await the best time of year - summer! The illustrations are also perfect for the youngest of readers as they are high contrast.

a beautifully different children's book
First of all the art in this book is outstanding considering it is all paper cut that is scanned and coloured in. The detail and beauty of it is jaw dropping. Second, my 2 year old daughter loved this book so much we read it 7 times in a row when it arrived- that is a big thumbs up. The story of the young boy wishing for summer is sweet and educational with mother's patient replies and explanation, there is repetition of the title phrase which encouraged my daughter to join in when reading aloud and there is also repetition visually of birds, squirrels, ducks and the same tree which helps to see the seasonal changes that exist in the story continue over time, and indeed see the mothers words come true as the year marches on towards summer. Some people might see the book as boring as it is lacking in bright colours, but it works with stimulating the visual senses of even the youngest reader with the use of contrast also due to the single piece of paper design and the black and monochrome colour scheme the ethnicity of the mother and child are ambiguous which will appeal to various families. Overall, a gorgeous book and we will be investing in more books by this author.

I love this book - it's black and white with a pop of colour. The 2.5 y/o enjoys reading it and asking if it's summer yet.

This is now my family's favourite seasonal book for Summer. The papercuts are gorgeous. A very stylish picture book, and no trial at all to read over and over.
