Value? Performance? Buck-for-buck, this is the BEST knife out there!!!
I've had a passion for knives for many years, right or wrong. One would probably lament the amount of money and time I have devoted to such a strange hobby. If I was a reasonable man about knives and wanted to choose one (1) folding knife to serve as my EDC (every day carry), this would be that knife. Value? Buck for buck, no folding pocket knife will outperform and out-value (for lack of a better word) the performance and value of the Spyderco Tenacious. As the years have gone by, I simply continue to marvel at this knife's greatness. I have a folder that costs $250.00 right now on the open market, and most days I find the Spyderco Tenacious in my pocket. Why? The performance and value of this beast just blows my mind. This knife can actually outperform many knives that cost over $100.00!! It's slick, robust, smooth as butter, sharp as hell and easy to carry. The design of the blade is very useful and classic Spyderco while the handle is G10 and very ergonomic. Perhaps the best thing about it is the price. You can get this knife for $40-$45 right now. A few years ago, you could get it for as low as $37.00, but I think those days are gone. The steel is 8CR13MOV, which is a Chinese steel very similar to AUS-8. Is it the best steel on the market? No, but Spyderco's treatment of 8CR13MOV is very impressive. It holds its edge fairly well, and is VERY EASY to sharpen to a razor's edge. I have actually grown quite fond of this steel because it's so easy to sharpen. All you have to do is give about 5-10 strokes with a ceramic rod, and it's a razor blade again. I have also been pleasantly surprised at this steel's corrosive resistance, something I was somewhat concerned about. Now, you will have to provide some care to any knife's steel or corrosion will result, but some mineral oil or a wipe down with Tuff-Cloth will be all you need to do with this knife, as long as you keep it dry after use. After exposure to water, I would try to rub it down if possible, but I haven't always done that, and the knife is still holding up well. The liner lock is actually surprisingly strong. I have had many liner lock knives, and some I can just tell that the liner lock won't hold up to heavy usage, but with the Spyderco Tenacious, I have confidence in this lock. That doesn't mean I'm going to be stupid with it, but this lock should hold up pretty well as long as you are reasonably cautious. By contrast, I have been cut by the Kershaw Blur after the liner lock failed in that knife, not that I don't like the Blur, but the liner lock just isn't that secure, at least not as secure as the Tenacious. With any liner lock or any folder, one must always be cautious about lock failure. The ergonomics on this knife are very impressive. This knife fits my hand like a glove, and it holds up so well to heavy usage. I have bought knives like CRKT No Time Off and other heavy duty knives that are almost twice as expensive as the Tenacious, and the I always find myself going back to my Tenacious because it's so comfortable, strong and easy to use. Like I said, I have many knives, many folding knives and many Spydercos, but if I wanted to sell all of my knives and get my money back and keep one (1) knife that could do EDC and heavy duty tasks, the Spyderco Tenacious would be that knife, hands down!! Many people will tell you that the Tenacious is out of style and now there are better options like the Byrd Raven 2 or people will tell you that the Ontario RAT-1 is better, but I'm here to tell you that I have all those knives, and the Spyderco Tenacious is the knife that I trust the most of the bunch. Does that mean it's better than a Spyderco Manix 2 G10 with S30V? No, the Manix 2 has better steel and a stronger lock, but it costs about $60.00 more than the Tenacious, too. What I am saying is that the Spyderco Tenacious is a silky-smooth, robust, beast of a knife and is THE BEST VALUE for the money on the market today, and it's been that way for a long, long time! The Spyderco Tenacious gets my highest recommendation as an EDC folding knife. I love it!!! Overall score: 93/100.

Surprising Solid Knife that's ready to do what it needs to
I am a fan of tuff no frills knives. I want them to preform well and hold an edge. My favorite small, utility, EDC is the RAT3. My first version of this knife I purchase when the guys of E.S.E.E knives, formerly Rat Cutlery, formerly produced with Ontario Knife Company. I can not say enough about that knife. Tough and it holds an edge better than any other I have owned. I can filet fish, skin game, cut carpet, widdle wood, you name it, it can be done with this knife. So, I am particular. The RAT3 is made of 1095 carbon steel and comes in at 5.3 oz. Unfortunately, E.S.E.E does not make a folder for my EDC. So I started doing a little research on tough folders. I really wanted to go with an American Made Folder but I kept coming across really strong reviews for this knife and for the price...it was really worth considering. Never owned a Sypderco Knife, and it was between this one and the Paramilitary 2. But I noticed 2 things...the Paramilitary 2 is a little longer but a little lighter. The Tenacious comes in at 4.1 oz and the Para comes in at 3.75. For the durability I was looking for, I thought I needed a little weight. Now currently I am carrying a Buck Ghost Rider. It was a Buck/Strider colaboration and I really liked the look. But it did not perform as well as I thought. First time it hit the ground.....no more tip. Sent it back to Buck and they edged the weapon and have not had issue with it again, but the steel is not my favorite, or the finish. But over all, Ghostrider is really, really solid. The weight and the pummel are absolutly capable for hammering, shattering, and could easily be used to debilitate an attacker without drawing the blade. So I am a fan of that. But the Tenacious is more than I expected for the price. I will follow up in about 30-45 days after hard and regular use to see how it fairs. The shape and quality of the blade is worth 2 or 3 times what I paid. The G10 handle is not as dense as with the Ghostrider but is well made for $35 dollars. I am really suprised it is so inexpensive. The look is pleasing and it is very well balanced. I have fairly standard sized man hands, about 9 in. from tip of pinky to the tip of the thumb when expanded and it fits well when cutting. The ergonomics could not be better for the size/weight ratio of the blade and knife. My only concerns at this point are how well the G10 will hold up after some use and how simple it will be to change the position of the clip. Sometimes I find that when you remove the screws for the first time from a knife they don't fit quite right and I hope that's not the case. I want the knife to position blade up rather than down. If it fairs as well as I expect I will probably purchase a few for my sons as well as gifts. This is an excellent knife for EDC that will more than likely exceed my expectations for a $35 dollar folder.

Can't beat the blade for your buck.
Disclaimer: I'm a Spyderco fan in a big way. They put out quality blades at very reasonable prices. I own 22 Spyderco knives to date. Ok, on to the review. This blade is great FOR THE PRICE. People, this knife is a great design and build using 8CR13MoV steel. Yes this steel is stainless, but all stainless steel is not the same. This a very good entry level steel- it holds an edge and is fairly RESISTANT to rust and water damage. If you want better edge retention and rust resistance, you're going to have to pony up some more cash for something with a higher grade steel (like VG10, S30V, 154cm or 440c). Moving on... This blade has a very sturdy lock up, great ergonomics, a dependable pocket clip and G10 with just the right amount of grip. It even has the phosphor-bronze washers to really smooth out the opening action. It has an open back for ease of care. The blade has a great belly for optimal cutting. It's full flat gring for strength, ease of sharpening and smooth deep cutting. Really, for the 35 bucks you're spending, you can't beet this knife. Just remember, you're spending 35, not 135. Have the right level of expectations. Considering that my collection includes the entire Manix 2, Endura, and Delica lines (all variations of each) as well as 2 paramilitary 2s, why did I "drop down" to this knife? Because I wanted (a) to see what the value line had to offer and (b) O wanted a knife I wouldn't feel bad about truly kicking the crap out of. I was amazed. The edge has held up well from cutting cardboard to light batoning and food prep, all with minimal blade care and sharpening. Yes, you'll need to sharpen this blade some before a manix 2. Yes, I'm careful to clean it after use. And it's held up great with just a little care. If you lnowor think you'll be using this knife around a good bit of moisture, I would recommend the black bladed version. Not only is the black treatment kewl with the mall ninja crowd, it's really good at helping to protect the steel from the elements. That protection can reduce the ease of cutting during deeper cuts, so you have to weigh your needs. Ok, if you're still reading, then buy the knife. I love this knife, it was truly one of my favorite finds in a long time, and without a doubt the best at this price point.

Good knife but not what I originally thought.
I bought this knife after reading numerous reviews that this was like purchasing a 60 dollar knife for 30 only possible because it was made in china. Well I have another knife built by another manufacturer here in the USA that was only 10 dollars more but is much more knife than this is. So do not go into this purchase with false pretenses. It is worth the 30 dollars but only so. The Spyderco Tenacious is a very attractive knife to look at from a few feet away. However as soon as you have one in your hand you realize that Spyderco cut corners in more areas than just sending the manufacturing to China: Handle Material: The G10 scales are very nicely, if a bit generic, styled. They have a small bumpy texture to them however because there are grooves or blocking of the scales I have better grip on a 8 dollar Smith & Wesson G10 knife. The edges on the G10 are nicely cut without much sharpness. Pocket Clip: Very attractive polished piece. It is very sturdy feeling and I am sure will last a very long time. Would have like the screw heads to use same size wrench as the ones on the scales though. As it is three different bits are needed. Blade: The Blade of the Tenacious is arguably its selling point. It is 8CR13MOV steel and come razor sharp from the box. However do not thing you are getting a finished blade. The blade leave appeared to be cut, laser etched, and put on the knife. No sharp edges are broken and I suspect that during manufacturing the leaves crash into each other causing nicks on the spine of the blade. This was the case of both examples I received. Liners: The liners are skeletonized to save weight but because of the massive leaf blade with Spydey hole the knife still feels hefty, but that doesn't bother me. The liners exhibit the same unfinished edges to them that the blade does. No sharp edges are broken and thus the liners exhibit numerous nicks. This was also the case of both examples I received. The liner Lock is very sturdy and locks up solidly. On my first example the liner would drag horribly on the blade. So quality inspection seems minor. Function: By now from reading this review you have no doubt realized that a lot of the parts on the Tenacious are unfinished. Since that is the case on my first knife there was no buttery smooth opening some mention. In fact the bearing detent for the liner lock scraped badly. On my second one it was much more acceptable however I I still had to go through it and refinish it. I have many more knives that are smoother. Fit: Fit on the knife is very respectable. The blade came centered perfectly on my first and had to be adjusted but was achievable in my replacement. There are points where one wishes that Spyderco would have made a little more effort during the design stage. One such place is on the choil area of the blade where it is sandwiched between the liners. It could have been styled to match the contour if only slightly and grooves cut into it to increase forward grip like on some other knives. Overall it is still a worthy knife to obtain. But it looses a star because of its lack of finish mean you will have to finish it at home or send it back for a better working example.

Can’t Beat the Value & Quality
The Spyderco Tenacious is a solid EDC knife that gives you a lot for the price. The 3.3-inch blade is a good size for everyday use, and it handles normal tasks like boxes, packaging, cord, and light outdoor use without any issue. It feels sturdy in the hand, opens smoothly, and has that practical Spyderco design that just works. It’s not the most expensive steel out there, but it’s easy to maintain and does what I need it to do. Great everyday knife and a good value.

I verified this knife to be an authentic Spyderco
I ordered the knife and received it the next day. Shortly after I ordered it, a YouTube influencer made a video stating that Amazon is selling counterfeit Spyderco Knives. I initially attempted to return the item. Before I sent the knife back, I contacted the seller about the issue. I received a reply the next day with validation that the knife is authentic. They get their knives directly from Spyderco and keep tight control of their inventory until the item is shipped to the purchaser. I received my knife in an authentic Spyderco package. I also received all the warranty documentation in the box. As for the knife performance, it is an excellent knife made in China that has several of the high quality characteristic of the models made in the US. The blade has a nice black coating to protect the blade from corrosion. The knife molds and edge for a long time and I usually just strop the blade every couple of days. It cuts through cord, tie wraps, cardboard and tape with ease. I frequently receive shipments at work and have to cut through tape and boxes. The blade cuts all day. The blade can be opened and closed with one hand and is a great knife for those that like to fidget. The pocket clip is very durable and keeps the knife down low in the pocket. I haven’t even come close to having the knife fall out. This is a great everyday utility knife and it is a worker. This knife is made to be used and holds up to rigorous use. It is a great knife for those that are looking for a cheaper model than the ones made in the USA. The seller is great and will answer any questions on authenticity so rest assured you are getting an authentic Spyderco Knife.

Excellent quality, but not a “flipper”
Solid, well out together. It’s NOT a “flipper”! So prepare for that. I’ve taken a little skin off my thumb instinctively trying to flip it open. Washers, not bearing pivot. I knew this when I ordered it so not going to take stars away for that. This is my first G-10 scaled folder. Love how that feels. Good size, good weight. Not too big or small. I’ll definitely look into more Spyderco knives from now on.

Excelente producto
