ThunderCats (Original Series): The Complete Series (DVD) "From beyond any known galaxy, bringing with them the laws and ideals of their green planet, Thundera, come the ThunderCats!" Born on a doomed planet in a faraway galaxy, a race of half-human, half-feline creatures find a new home on the Third Earth. Review: Thundercat Nostalgia - I'm a HUGE fan of the Thundercats, having grown up when the original series was on. Even had some of the toys when I was a kid, (no longer have any unfortunately. ) But..the series was fun, taught lessons and the animation was excellent. I appreciate the fact that this series was done at a time when things weren't computer animated, people animated this show with their hands, the technique for animation for this show and others similar to it, from 1985 to 1992, were still largely done by hand and in a painstaking, to me thoughtful way. The quality and even at times the errors we as viewers sometimes see make it special. Also actors brought these characters to life, so much work to bring these shows to life. Shows like this are worth a watch, and may even teach you a few lessons along the way. Review: ThunderCats, Nooooo (but also... yes) - If you’re buying this expecting crisp, high-definition animation that rivals modern Blu-ray releases... congratulations on your optimism, and welcome to disappointment. This is ThunderCats the way the ancient gods (and 1980s broadcast syndication) intended: slightly blurry, wildly dramatic, and entirely awesome. The animation quality varies between “pretty solid” and “wow, they really reused that frame six times,” but again—that’s part of the charm. The packaging is fine. Nothing fancy. It holds discs. That’s its job, and it does it. Barely. If you were expecting collectible art cards or a Sword of Omens replica, you may be confusing this with a deluxe Blu-ray release that doesn’t exist and probably never will. But here’s the thing: despite the grainy visuals, the lackluster extras, and packaging that screams “we had a $27 budget,” this show still rules. The drama, the action, the completely unnecessary yelling of every character’s name during battle—it all holds up in the most gloriously over-the-top way. This set isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s ThunderCats, and it’s all here. And for fans, that’s more than enough.

THUNDER! THUNDER! THUNDER! THUNDERCATS! HOOOOOOO!!!!!
The best item that I’ve ever gotten! I had a series before, but it was just a portion of the complete series and I finally have the whole series itself, and I am glad! Ultimate nostalgia and great bringer of memories!

greatest remake treated like a red headed step child
This is the best example of how to remake an old series. The animation, the chararcter designs, music and such an awesome origin and story is just wonderful. I've seen the original series and I thought it was fantastic for its time, a little campy somewhat with stiff dialogues and mediocre voice acting. For those who hates this remake is stuck in the past and set their minds not to like this wonderful anime-esque remake and it's truely sad. Everything about this remake is top notch and I was legitimately disappointed when I heard they stopped the production after 3 seasons due to bad advertising and placement of the show in a wrong timeslot and channel, the same reason how xena warrior princess show ended. The creators put everything into this show and nothing was overlooked, lion-o's sword, the thundertank, the character's abilities are all there and they use it too, (Lion-o and his friends actually cuts and beats the hell out of their foes) not like the old show where it shows maybe once per episode and no one gets actually beaten. Lion-o and the others are strong and they're not overshadowed by their leader, each characters and how they joined Lion-o is a great way to show the audience instead of them just being there as a background figures compared to Lion-o. Character development to fresh origin along with fantastic voice casts, this remakes is deserves the very best praise one can receive. I'm really hoping they'll continue the series because it was just unfair how it ended. 5 stars isnt good enough. The blu-ray is too basic and nothing in the way of extras, no anamorphic menues, no music or scenes from the episode on the menu, its like they didnt even try. Buy this bluray for the show, not for whats in the disc and enjoy this wonderful remake.

Blu ray is not the originaL series, but is well worth checking out.
This is for the bluray. I accidentally purchased this thinking it was the original series. It's a reboot. I didn't even know they made a reboot. That being said, this is a great series. Not perfect, lots of unrealism and plot holes, but the plusses outweigh the negatives. Great stories, cool creatures, decent animation, and some dark concepts. Really glad I bought it by accident. The worst thing about this series is there's no conclusion. But, you gotta figure everything works out with a happy ending. It just would've been nice to have seen the journey.

Can't Go Wrong. Sad There Is Not More.
Another great series that I watched online and fell in love with and had to buy. I'm currently watching the original series so I cannot say for sure how closely the 2011 version resembles the original (or would have if the 2011 version had been allowed to continue), but so far I have had a blast with both. The one thing I really love about this series is how you could see Lion-O grow as a character and his altering perspectives that shape him into the wonderful leader he's meant to be (as well as the changes in the lives of his friends and family) with some "spiritual" guidance from a old friend/mentor. [Small SPOILERS AHEAD regarding the introduction to the story] The 2011 series is different from the original where Lion-O was just a 12 yr old (son of the previous lord of the Thundercats) who, travelling to a new home (Third Earth) after their old home planet Thundera was destroyed. Their ship was attacked and their warp/hyper-drive was damaged where travel to their new home would have them perish from old age. So, the team had to stay in stasis pods that greatly slow aging but not stop it (hence why Lion-O then became a "young man" (24 I think)) where he and the current members of the Thundercats try to establish a new home. In the 2011 series Lion-O was a prince (what I presume to be a young adult) to a great/powerful then fallen kingdom named Thundera on a planet called Third Earth. After the fall of Thundera, they set out on a quest to locate a relic to help them in their struggle. Either iteration you watch, you'll not be disappointed as you'll get a different taste with each one. But personally, I like the universe of the 2011 series currently because how they differentiate between the species and creatures and bind them to one planet [Third Earth] in a way that makes a lot more sense to me. It's a shame that the series didn't go as far as it could have, but it kept me entertained the whole time. My advice, watch the 1985 version and then this if you can. The great thing about reboot series is that they sometimes love to make references and pay homage to the original series. So when you watch the 2011 series, you'll be like "Oh. Omg I remember that! Ha ha ha". I would recommend.
