You've heard of micro-blogging - now try micro-journaling! Just pick one word to describe your day. One word! And if even that seems too much, we've included a clever synonym list to spark your imagination. Sumptuously clothbound, with a ribbon marker, this extra-chunky object d'art is the perfect gift for anyone who's ever dreamed of keeping a diary but been too gosh-darned busy to do so. At Knock Knock our sensibility is proudly distinct, in contrast to the overwhelming homogenization of committee-created corporate product. We believe that many people are intelligent enough to appreciate wit, wordplay, and conceptual thinking, so we strive not to dumb down as we create. Our customers comprise the impish, the dapper, the droll, the young-at-heart, those who prefer the humor of the truth to false feel-good affirmations. On the highfalutin front, Knock Knock seeks to integrate art and commerce by creating original, authentic, non-cynical products. Our inspirations are Charles and Ray Eames and Tibor Kalman, designers who refused compartmentalization and brought intelligence, aesthetics, and creativity to everything they touched. Also, we read a lot. Following are a few things we believe: Ethics and decency are immeasurably important. Craft is important for the soul as well as the hands and eyes. Humor makes everything better. Not everything should strive to be accessible to the lowest common denominator, or any common denominator, for that matter. Empty feel-good affirmations are an instant gratification of diminishing returns, slyly interpreted truths last longer. Despite the rise of the screen, much that is interesting and innovative can be done with printed matter, though paper should be recycled whenever possible. Good should be rewarded. Problems should be discussed and resolved. Mistakes should be admitted and learned from. Common sense is uncommon. Ego is annoying. Turn signals should be used. Review: No-stress journal - This is a perfect way for the reluctant or too-busy writer to keep a concise record of her life. By the way, choosing that one word can be a serious artistic challenge, if you want it to be. Review: I Love My One Word a Day Journal! - I absolutely love this little thing. I used to be an avid journaler, ranging from regular written diaries to online livejournals. I recently re-took up the task upon buying this concise journal for myself and I have to say--I love the concept of one-word-a-day! The idea really challenges you to pick the one most important aspect of each day, descramble it, and put it on paper. If you can do this consistently, then what you will be left with is a verbal catalog of a year's worth of emotions and events. Challenge yourself--get a one-word-a-day journal and get rid of your old reliance on a plethora of words!

too fun
Just loved spending a year doing this! Sometimes I added more detail, but I enjoyed coming up with a word to describe the day!

Looking at words
Loving this book ...the discipline of finding an unusual word or saying every day ...or exploring meaning and etymology of some I use colloquially. A different sort of journalling which I also love

Keep it short and simple
Quite a chunky in depth, but small in size book. The idea is you describe your day in one word. No dates on the pages, just numbered, so you have to fill that in - ideal for those who don't record everyday, annoying for those who like order! There are a number of interesting pages at the back with ideas for words for different emotions / situations - quite quirky and clever; also hints on how to use the book, such as having code words for certain types of day. This was bought as a present, so not used personally, but I am a diarist and thought this was challenging and interesting.

Tiny vocabulary collection album
Fab little tiny book to record a new word & its meaning every day. I got one for each of my children 8 & 11 years both are keen users. Whether they go back through it and actually remember some of the words they found remains to be seen. There is probably a phone app that would do the same but I haven't found it if it's out there. If anyone knows of one do let me know, I could with doing some word collecting myself.
