The Build a Bag Book: Backpacks: Sew 15 stunning projects and endless variations

Another brilliant book by Debbie Shore, great instructions for backpack making, easy to follow and good quality templates. I have several of Debbie’s books and will get more.

So impressed with this book! The book itself is a paperback, but comes in a hard cover that includes the plastic templates. Some lovely bag designs of different sizes, with clear and precise instructions and photographs. There is even an Oops section that covers the things that can go wrong and how to correct them. I have yet to try out the patterns, but am confident that the bags will be easy to make following Debbie's instructions. The book allows you to follow a basic pattern, then adjust to your needs (pockets, applique, etc) meaning you're not restricted to the patterns in the book. This is my first Debbie Shore purchase, but very impressed, and will be looking at her other books now!

I love the simplicity of the instructions in Debbie's books. I would call myself an intermediate sewer with a lot to learn. This book gives templates and clear instructions to construct a variety of backpacks for kids and adults. You can let your imagination go on designs, add bits etc if you are creative. With all the patterns included, this book really is great value for money. I have a couple of Debbie's other books, all of which I find ideal, and have met Debbie at a demonstration - she is very funny, down to earth lady who loves to share her knowledge and skills with others. Would definitely recommend this book unless you are a very accomplished bag maker looking for more intricate designs, but you can always adapt these basic patterns easily. I've made two already and had the book less than a week!

Clear instructions and plastic reusable patterns

Brilliant book. The pattern is really sturdy for reuse and the instructions are clear and helpful. Lots of tips and helpful alternatives if you can’t source the materials recommended. So good , I want the rest in the series !

This book has clear illustrations, I purchased this book to use at work with people with a number of learning disabilities, I shall be able to use this book whilst explaining step by step instruction. Pleased with the purchase

Meine Mutter ist sehr begeistert von dem Buch. Tolle Anleitung und vor allem praktische Schnittmuster. Man muss nichts vergrößern oder kopieren. Man bekommt ausführliche Anweisungen und schön bebildert ist es auch noch. Kommt dazu noch im praktischen Schuber daher, man kann also auch schon verstauen.
