I have had my 3 Kohler Wellington K-4504 toilets now for 30 years. I have been extremely satisfied with them, but like all toilets - the seats, or more likely, the cheap plastic tightening screws eventually break. This is usually caused by the seat not staying firmly in place, and wanting to slide sideways. That is what happened more than once with each of my toilets over time. Prior to Amazon, and being able to order exactly what I was looking for, I ended up buying "look-alikes" at the local hardware store - that did not look like the original. They eventually broke as well. So the time came again where I needed to replace one of them. But NOW, with the newer "close slowly" seats, PLUS being able to order an EXACT color-matched seat made by Kohler - I ordered this model to try it out. Not only did it perfectly match the Almond color of the toilet, but amazingly stays firmly in place when sitting on it. There is something about the silicone (or what ever they are made from) pads you install on the seat that really adhere to the porcelain toilet. I weigh 250 pounds currently, and would have to really twist and wrench myself around to try and make it move. It really stays firmly in place. It was absolutely simple to install. Takes about 10 minutes - where I spent more time cleaning the surface from the prior seat being in place than it took me to mount the new seat. The new one has steel bolts and very clever self-seating washer lugs that fit up into the mounting holes. You could literally mount the seat blindfolded it's so easy! I was skeptical of the plastic snap-in mounting brackets at first, but they really hold the seat firmly in place. I like the ability to simply pull the seat out to clean underneath it, then snap it back in place when done. - And I LOVE the slow-closing seat and cover! After testing it for about a month, I liked it so well, that I bought 2 more and replaced my other toilets with these brand new, matching seats! …… It's these "little things" in life that make all the difference! :-)

This is a great toilet seat and once it is installed it is easy to remove and clean the area behind the seat. There is one issue which has been mentioned here frequently. On many of Kohler's one piece toilets, the area below is sealed so you cannot access the "nut" that holds the bolts. In their infinite wisdom (sarcasm) Kohler has used spreading metal molly bolts which most of the time can be difficult if not impossible to remove. I found their removal tool useless. I have three of these Kohler one piece toilets so I got plenty of practice removing the old seats. For one I used a soldering iron to melt through the lower part of the old seats plastic hinge attaching the old toilet seat to the base. It is a lot easier to do that than to using a special saw, file or even dremel cutting tools. If you luck and the old bolts haven't corroded you may be able to just unscrew the old bolts. I had no such luck. I had to do whatever it took to get the bolts out and then the metal molly bolts they screw into. You will just have to read other reviews to see what they did which includes using a dremel cutting blade, drilling down thru the bolts, etc. Now no way do you want to use the steel molly bolts Kohler supplies again because you will face the same removal issues if you ever need to replace the seat again. Another viewer suggested rubber & stainless steel well nuts. That is what I used. They are inexpensive and easy to install and will be easy to replace if that is ever necessary. Kohler if your engineers are reading this, stop using those steel moly bolts and nuts and switch to the well nuts on your one piece toilets that have no access to the lower nut.

Solid, clean-looking toilet seat that feels sturdier than expected. Easy to install with standard hardware and fits well with no shifting once tightened. Smooth finish, comfortable, and a noticeable upgrade from our old one. Actually fit on my Toto toilet too! No complaints so far.

It seems weird to say that this KOHLER K-4639-O is the best toilet seat I've ever had the pleasure to install, but it's true. And the ability to slide off the seat completely to clean the toilet without having to unscrew the attachment is ideal. The seat attachment is plastic and care will need to be taken if you are removing the seat frequently for cleaning, but the design is good. Basically, both sides pinch the anchor post (shown in black in the photos) and then you snap down the white cover to put it back into place. The nylon bolt and nut that holds the anchor in place is very secure and this seat wiggles hardly at all when installed. I really like how the toilet lid slowly closes when asked to do so. No slamming seat! The seat is all made of good quality plastic and has a 1-year warranty. I would expect it to last much longer with care, and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one if the need arises. I tend to purchase toilet seats that are much less expensive than this one, but after the upgrade, I may have to reconsider that in the future. I recommend this KOHLER product, but it should be noted that some may find it uncomfortable and want to avoid it. --------------------------- NOTE: "Comfort" is relative. The seat for a round toilet has sides that come up slightly on the outer edges. The seat overall is concave more than rounded. This makes longterm sitting on this porcelain perch an unpleasant experience as it is not the most comfortable toilet seat out there. I think this seat is made for smaller folks with fairly narrow hips and a round bit of padding on their end. This seat doesn't cut into me, but it's definitely not as comfortable as a cheap wood one without special features. I will continue to use it, but I tend to do my business and get off the throne. I don't tend to use the bathroom as a reading room or make calls there. If you are looking for a comfortable resting place for extended stays, this probably isn't the seat for you.

OK, it is a toilet seat. Do we really need a review? In this case, YES! This toilet seat is so easy to install, looks great, is super easy to clean, is stable, and is great with kids. No more of the slamming of toilet seats from kids or their friends when they come over. No more stains on the underside of seats I've seen because this one is non-porous. And, many years of great use. The only negative is the price. I bought a few of these about five years ago for a house we have since moved from. I loved them so much, I went to purchase a few more and was shocked that they were almost twice as much. The Amazon price was similar to the big box stores. I was able to get about 30% off on Amazon Prime Day so bought several then to bring the price back down to something more reasonable.

Hey, friends, I decided my very old toilet seat in my main floor bathroom needed replacing. This is not the kind of job I want to do around the house, lol, I’d stick with cleaning and not maintenance or repair. I looked at many on Amazon. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I chose this based on price, reviews, looks, and an installation video. Finally put it onto the toilet. It’s very nice! It’s a nice shape, and was super-easy to install. The way it’s configured there aren’t all the books and crannies that my old one had that made it harder to clean well. This is smooth and designed nicely for cleaning. The soft-close feature is really nice and works well, both for the seat and the lid. I took one star away for sturdiness only because this is the first plastic one I have ever bought, and some reviewers had written that even though they liked the seat, it will have a shorter usage due to its plastic construction. At this point I don’t see that as a problem, but in good conscience and with common sense, yes, this probably won’t last 10 years, however, I would purchase this again in a heartbeat. Was a nice small improvement to my bathroom, and I will almost surely purchase one for my second-floor bathroom upon finishing some projects in there.
