Are these the same thing as ground cherries?

Good question! I had not heard that name (ground cherries) applied to golden berries, but a quick online search revealed they are at least similar. You may want to reach out to the supplier (Kejora) for additional information. They are very responsive. BTW - I love to put these in and on my daily oatmeal (along with a number of other fruits).

where are these "Golden Berries / Cape Gooseberries" grown/harvested from??

I believe they get them from somewhere else, but I am not sure where, but if you contact the supplier I would think they can tell you. They are very responsive to questions. What I do like about their golden berries is they usually come in their original husks.

Are these Chinese lanterns? Is the paper-like textured husks orange?

The husks are more like a beige color. The goldenberries inside are indeed orange. Sometimes they ship in the husks, sometimes not You need to check with Kejora to see what they have at the moment. Always great quality, though!
