Simply perfect
First of all, most of the negative reviews here are incorrect. The device is very simple. Fan, + evaporative element=cool air. If the evaporative element cannot ‘evaporate’ = no cooling. That is 1) if you live in the Midwest or east coast, this device is not for you 2) if you do not ventilate your room, eventually the room will get too humid that the evaporative element cannot evaporate = no cooling. Otherwise if you live in a place with %40-50 humidity it is perfect. Perfect how: on a desk facing towards you cooling only the area around the desk. It cannot cool a room. I see so many reviews with unreasonable expectations. They make it look like there’s something wrong with the product. Which is making me upset because that’s why I didn’t but this sooner (aka last summer). Working from home with no A/C can be challenging in hot summer days. Fans just move the air around they don’t cool you. This device is perfect for personal cooling. I’ve been using it for 4-5 hours on the lowest setting connected to a power bank with 10000mAh capacity, it has not even used up %20 of the juice yet. Room is around 85F temp, humidity ~%50, feels pretty comfortable. I can’t say anything about the longevity yet. Fan at the lowest setting is unnoticeable. Anything higher is loud. Loud in a “moving a lot of air through a filter” way. Not like an out of alignment fan making annoying noises. Come on, you cannot expect Dyson quality sound engineering from these guys who probably just made this out of Kickstarter money. It is unreasonable. Unless there is some quality issues with the fan I don’t see this device failing anytime soon because it’s pretty well made. There’s nothing else out there like this. I would buy again as a gift.

Not much cooling power; defective replacement filters
UPDATE: lowered my review. The biggest problem is getting a replacement filter. The last 2 filters I received were filthy with brown dust and had to be returned. The filter paper was disintegrating. The manufacturers packing was completely intact and undamaged, so it is definitely the manufacturer's issue. I would return the Evapolar unit if I could but after a few months, I threw out the box, never thinking that getting a replacement filter would be a problem. As this unit uses water to cool the air, the filter will become moldy over time. It cannot be cleaned; it must be replaced. Until such time as the manufacturer addresses this issue and I can obtain a usable replacement filter, I would not recommend purchasing this product. In general, I didn't find that it cools much more than a fan would. I use it in the bedroom because I really like it cold at night. I was hoping I could keep my home a/c temp higher for the rest of the house and have the Evapolar make it a bit cooler in my bedroom. I even fill it with cold water right out of the refrigerator and have it on the nightstand next to the bed. It helps a very little bit. To really make a difference I still have to put on a large fan. As for noise, on the lower settings it is not horrible but on the high settings it is just as noisy as any quality room fan. Much noisier than a good ceiling fan. You pretty much have to have it blowing directly on you as it does not really have the cooling power to really lower the air temperature in a room, even with doors and windows closed. Might be okay for small office or cubicle, but you still need to be able to get replacement filters.

Great personal ac; NOT for cooling a whole room
For starters, if you're looking for something to cool an entire room, this is NOT the purchase to make!! That being said though, this is perfect if you need something to set up near you while sitting at a desk or something local like that. The air isn't freezing by any means, but it's definitely cool air and feels nice. It's pretty energy efficient, easy to use, and the noise isn't bad! It can get a bit loud on the 4th (highest) setting, but it's not an annoying sound in my opinion. I do wish there was a line to show the max level the water can be because when I first got it I did make the mistake of overfilling it, so make sure you turn on the light to make it easy to see the water level as you're filling it up. Otherwise, I have no real complaints about it! As long as you're realistic in understanding that it's for cooling a localized area rather than an entire room (unless that room is very small,) it works great for what it's meant to do and I'd say is worth the purchase now that I'm entering my second summer of using it!

Convenient and useful!
The Evapolar evaCHILL saved me a summer ago when there was a crazy heat wave in Oregon. Whew, it was hot. This helped me as a work from home so I just had this pointed at myself and helped keep me cool. Extremely portable and easy to refill. I have since used this on trips or just to have some extra coolness without running the AC. The real star of why I think the product is worth the hype is due to Basalt fibers. A list of some features of using them below as to why I purchased: ⭐️ High Thermal Stability: Basalt fibers have excellent resistance to high temperatures, making them suitable for use in air conditioning systems where components may be exposed to heat. ✅ Vibration Dampening: Basalt fibers have good vibration-dampening properties, which can reduce noise and improve the overall user experience of a portable AC. This helped keep it quiet to me. ✅ Eco-Friendly: Basalt is a naturally occurring material, and the production of basalt fibers is more environmentally friendly compared to some synthetic fibers, making portable AC units more sustainable. ✅ Corrosion Resistance: Basalt fibers are resistant to corrosion, chemicals, and moisture, which is beneficial in the harsh environments often encountered by air conditioning units. ✅ Lightweight: Despite their strength, basalt fibers are relatively lightweight, which is ideal for portable AC units that need to be easily movable. Hope this helps.

This is not an AC.
First allow me to say what the headline clearly states: This is not an air conditioner in any way, shape, or form. If you are seeking something that is going to cool a room down, this is not the product that is going to miraculously do that for you. In fact, I have searched high and low for a product that was like that only to realize that such things don't exist unless you have a window unit or a the very least a window for ventilation tubing that connects to a true portable AC unit. However, as a simple little desktop fan, it's not bad. I don't think it is worth the cost, nor do I believe in all the hype this product received when it became available. But it isn't terrible. I could have bought something far cheaper and probably received a product that did the same thing. I would also like to note, that when I first received the item, it was defective, and I had to return it for a replacement. Still, I do think it is decent for what it is. And when compared to a regular fan of the same size, the water and filter aspect of this will give you a cooler breeze, just not a life changing one.

Perfection for night sweats
The evaporative cooling technology is old-school and under the right conditions it works great. This is NOT an air conditioner, so if you are expecting something similar to a window unit or car AC you will be disappointed. It can't cool down a large, hot room. But what it can do, it does really well! Where I live it can get really dry. My husband and I sleep in an upstairs bedroom that is always 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. In the winter if we lower the heater temperature, our daughter gets cold downstairs in her room. In the Sumner if we try to cool off the upstairs with our central AC, it freezes the downstairs. I have vintage windows that won't hold a window unit, and if I open a window at night to sleep, my allergies go crazy. This little cooler has been amazing to both drop the temperature and raise the humidity. Plus, the drier the air, the cooler it gets. Evap coolers dont work well in humid climate at all. I found that out when I lived in Texas. I put a thermometer directly in front of the grill of the EvaChill as it was blowing, and in my 85 degree room with 21% humidity the air coming out was 68 degrees! I put the cooler right next to our bed, on my side, blowing across us... and my husband had to pull up the covers because it was cold. I cannot say enough great things about this little machine. A full reservoir of water lasts about 3 hours in dry conditions. The tank is super easy to fill. It is cute and modern and small and innocuous. The fan is quiet and practically nonexistent compared to my air purifier. The highest setting makes quite a breeze, and the lowest is perfect to just humidify the air. It pumps out way more moisture than my cool mist humidifier. I LOVE not waking up with dry eyes. I keep it next to the bed, but it would be great in a hot office or cubicle, too. I have only had it a few weeks and I use it every night, so I'm hoping it lasts. Its like falling asleep in an ocean breeze. And a treat for anyone who suffers from hot flashes or night sweats. I LOVE EvaChill!

Pretty, works well, but fussy and a bad value.
If you use it in a hot, dry, climate, this product works well. (evaporative coolers only work well in low humidity.) It's humming along on my desk as I type, cooling me and looking pretty. I want to love this evaCHILL. But after experiencing both it and something frequently seen on television, it's fussy and a bad value. The good: Its design is sleek and tasteful. It works well to cool a small area. (by which I mean a person at a desk) Low power consumption. Handle and lower water storage makes it more portable than its competitor. The merely okay: It has a slightly earthy smell when running, and if ran dry, the air feels a little more dusty. Being a tiny swamp cooler, it needs water added frequently. And if you stop using it and store it, the filter needs to dry out. But that's typical of all tiny swamp coolers. The bad: The blue light has no 'off' switch. You can lay a black T-shirt over the sides if you need this while sleeping, but for $90, there should be an off switch. The design is fussy. The water intake is right next to the electrical components, it requires a funnel that is a separate piece, can only be (carefully!) stored in one place and gives you a whopping 1" square target to pour into, the plastic is thin and delicate (would it have hurt them to make everything 1/32" thicker???), the water reservoirs are inaccessible for cleaning, and the very top piece (where the logo is printed) has to be removed and gently placed back 'just so' whenever you want to access the tiny funnel or do anything with the filter. Which means that if a ham handed goofball handles it once... you may end up with a missing funnel or damaged top in 2 minutes flat, and then your expensive cooler is no longer pretty. The fan runs quietly and well on the lowest setting, and starts to sound loud and over taxed on all three higher setting, as the cooler literally vibrates. It's genuinely underbuilt. It's also expensive. it costs $50-$60 more than its closest competitor, and the filters that need to be changed every 2-4 months, run $29 each, also double its closest competitor. It probably still pays for itself in reduced cooling bills, but that's a big surcharge for a pretty, modern design. I'm keeping it because it does its job, it's pretty, and I've been running it long enough that returning it would just feel weird, but I'd only recommend it to someone who loves its aesthetics and is willing to pay for them.

DON'T BUY
My first review wasn't posted so I will continue posting reviews until they do. Don't buy this thing. It's worthless. It started leaking and stopped working. I sent a message to the seller reporting this issue and this is their reply: "We can suggest that you take the cartridge out of the device and put a coin near the tray so that a gap forms between the cartridge and the inner surface of the device." Place a coin???!!! It stopped working a few days after the return window ended so now I'm stuck with this piece of useless dog poop. And Amazon "help" desk didn't help at all. DON'T BUY IT. DON'T BUY IT. DON'T BUY IT.

Great little machine
I like it a lot. It's size and portability is exactly what I wanted. It's true that it doesn't cool like an air conditioner, nor can it cool a whole room, but it throws out a stream of cold air that is very effective at close range. It draws very little power and the water tank will last for 4 or 5 hours before needing refilling (depending on what speed it's on). I also like the specially designed funnel provided to fill the tank with... a nice touch. And the soft blue light is pretty cool too!

Excellent little Air Cooler for very small space
EvaChill produces cool (not cold) air 30 to 60 centimeters in front of the device. My desk is located far from A/C and I get really hot. It does it’s job perfectly in cooling my small desk space area while at work and keeps me cool. I’m really happy with it.

Pretty Good for what it is
The technology could not be simpler you fill the water and a highly absorbent filter absorbs it and then a small very quiet fan blows air through the filter. On a particularly hot day I tend to reduce the amount of cold water I put in the device at any one time and instead add some ice cubes, which is enough to last a couple of hours at a time. It's not essential but does make a slight difference. Now if you are expecting this to cool down a whole room forget it - it's a fraction of the price of a fully installed air conditioning system for a reason. There's no refrigerant, compressor, condenser, inverter, evaporator, holes in walls, a dedicated power supply, internal and external units, a team of installers or electricity costs that will make your eyes water. Instead the Evapolar is simply a 9w fan that runs off USB that pushes air through water and delivers cool air onto your body - cool enough for comfort whilst working from home. Mine is sat on my desk just in front of me on fan setting 2. Its very quiet and nobody notices when i'm on a conference call - except me as I'm not overheating. I also own a desk fan but that just swirls the hot air around whereas the Evapolar genuinely cools me. Furthermore, I have sensed zero humidity in the room as the water evaporates - I suspect a hot cup of tea will generate significantly more humidity in the air. I should also point out that I am fortunate enough to have air conditioning in some areas of my home and was considering having it fitted in my office. However, the fact that the Evapolar can keep me cool at my desk by providing a focused beam of cool air is good enough for me. Just to add - water and electricity don't mix so the trick is to fill the water when the device is not connected. Filling the water could not be easier and spillage would take some doing but I did manage it whilst picking up a phone call. I just let the components dry out before switching it on.
