Great incentive tool for young ones!!!

First, my only issue with this star chart is a small one: the mat is a bit thin so sometimes our toddler will accidentally pull it off the fridge when removing stars or roughly putting stars on. But in the product's defense...toddlers are tiny bulls in china shops, so there's only so much we can do without super gluing it to a wall.Other than that, I love this star chart! It gives our 4 year old concrete visual evidence of how her week is going and lays out the expectations/goals for the week. I also love that the stars are velcro. They stick well and allow us to remove stars if the little one throws a fit or doesn't listen after the stars have been done.We have been using this star chart for about two months and have seen great progress with our little one. I think having defined goals as opposed to just asking her to "be good" or "be nice" or "be helpful" makes things easier for her. We also spend time discussing her day and what she did well and what she can improve on the next day. It gives her the opportunity to celebrate little victories and to discuss undesirable behaviors and why we don't do those things (hitting, not listening, being rude, throwing fits, whining...) and encourage her to work on it for the next day.We allow her to tell us what reward she would like at the beginning of the week (within reason, of course) and we remind her of the goal she is working toward every night. I think this is teaching her how to work towards a goal and showing her that there are rewards for good behavior. She had to learn the hard way about not reaching her goal and about how really bad behavior (an epic meltdown with screaming and crying because she didn't want to go to bed) can lose stars that she's already earned, which I believe is helping her to understand consequences. She didn't quite understand what "losing a star" meant until I had her remove the star from the chart and give it back to me. I could see it click in her head and she got quiet and sad. Of course, we don't like to see that, but it's an important learning experience and once she understood, she turned things around and had a great next day.I want to say that she's not a bad kid. In fact, she a really sweet, exuberant child. But toddlers are tiny cave people and this is a great tool in helping to incentivize good behavior. If you're looking for a way to use positive reinforcement to guide your little one, I think this one is great. It also feels durable and I have no doubt we will be using it for a long time.

Fun and interactive

My grandson love this as well did my daughter! It worked great for potty training as he is very much a visual learner and he loves putting on the stars himself! This is a 10 out of 10!

This thing has been awesome! We have only had it a few days and my 3 year old is in love with it. It comes with a lot of different tasks so you can focus on just about anything. My daughter is now excited to see her progress with each task and focuses on filling up her board as fast as possible. The velcro that sticks to the back of each piece is pretty tight. Like most other 3 year olds my lid likes to pull stuff apart, and we have not had any issues with her being able to rip the velcro off. Rather than focus on being good each day, we have started to put stars for each action instead. So for example my daughter will get a star for each time she uses the potty, rather than a star for just "Monday". Once she gets the hang of certain tasks we will switch to a daily star which is nice to have that option. Just know that it is a little weird as she sometimes looks at the chart and asks why I have already given her a star for the next day. It may be a small issue for some.Pros:Lots of different taksStrong velcroDurable attachmentsEasily attaches to the side of the fridge (magnetic)ConsA little on the small side (11x15)Only one reward allowed per dayOverall this thing is great. We couldn't ask for anything better in helping our kid focus on things she needs work on.

pretty good...a few changes I would make...

OK so I just received this chart (less than 12 hours after I ordered it, you rock amazon) and I couldn't wait to review it. It is so cute and I love the idea of positive reinforcement over punishment when it comes to kids. So I would give this 5 stars except there are a few things I would change about it.I'll start with the pros.1)it is super user friendly. Right away my 5 year old daughter understood the concept of the stars and the end prize to work toward.2) um...so cute!! A few reviewers I saw were complaining about confusing pictures to depict the good behavior (I.e. a picture of a kid eating rudely to depict good table manners.) It looks like the company must have taken heed of the criticism because the picture is now of a little girl with her hands clasps politely and her food and silverware neatly on the table as if she is waiting patiently to eat. The illustrations are very cute and kid friendly.3) I love all the options and that the tasks are interchangeable and easily switched around. So now the (small) changes I would make-1) some of the tasks are a bit redundant. Like they have "playing well with others" and then also "no mean words" and then also "no harming others" those seem to me like pretty much the same thing. I would have much preferred to have more of the options to write my own.2) furthermore, there are just enough of the yellow plastic bases for all the premade stickers but not enough for the "make your own" stickers. This means you would have to sacrifice a few of the premade stickers for the blank ones. I guess that isn't a huge deal since, as mentioned above, some are a bit redundant.3) this is a silly one but it bugs me just the same, no dry erase marker in the set. You have the ability to write on the board with dry erase marker, I feel like, for the price, a simple marker would have really taken this product up a notch.4)finally, I would have done away with the "days of the week" listed on top. Kids behavior can fluctuate so much throughout the day that it seems weird to give them one sticker for the entire day. I much prefer rewarding a behavior in the moment. People could have the option to write the days of the week at the top if they wanted to, but I don't like that method so having the days permanently written on the top irritates me.So that is everything. Overall a great purchase but just a few constructive criticisms. It would be awesome if the company were to read feedback from your everyday mom and adjust their product accordingly.
