Temper you expectations
It does work very well. Dont expect it to cool the room for you. Your room has to be ventilated, it will give a nice breeze 3-5 degrees below ambient. In a closed room it will become warm and humid. Although it doesn't seem to cool the air very much, after 30 minutes or so it begins to feel quite cold and I have needed to turn the fan down or the water flow off, even on very hot days. It is very quiet on the low setting, ideal for the bedroom at night. Again you need a ventilated room, the lower the ambient humidity the better it will work. The water tank is big, it lasts more than a day often several days. Though if you leave water in it too long it will smell, easily remedied by emptying, cleaning the tank and pad and refilling, adding a drop of disinfectant, dettol or the like. Make sure it is completely dry inside before packing away for the winter. I have been looking for a replacement pad after 3 summers. The manufacturer said 'sorry you are out of warranty, we don't sell spare parts. Perhaps you could try Amazon for a suitable alternative '. No help there. I guess as far as they're concerned when the pad falls apart you can just buy a new machine. I hope the pad will last another 1 or 2 years then we have seen some natural fibre replacement possibilities through Google. Hopefully by then someone will be selling a cut to fit universal evaporative pad.

Pretty good
Much colder than I expected. Really easy to use. Easy to install. Very good value. Keeping us cool. Definitely recommend the 10 litre - just fill with water and it will completely transform the room

Not very impressed
The booklet that came with the unit was missing any information on how to use the unit - thank goodness for google. The fan is ok, not amazing though, and I don’t find it very cooling. I had high hopes for it but if I could send it back I would. Save your money

0 stars.
Bought second hand and got a week’s worth of good use (including changing the water regularly). After this week, it started to smell so, so, so bad when switched on. Almost like a fishy/ musty/ metallic smell. We did some research and noted that the smell could be from bacteria forming in the water or, mould and the unit would need a thorough clean. We cleaned the unit with antibacterial wipes, Dettol, Mould Spray, Limescale spray and spray on Bleach but the smell persisted. We also noticed dead insects in the water unit during every water change. Unfortunately the smell made us both feel nauseous and, we have stopped using the fan. It feels like a minor health risk to be breathing in contaminated air so we have resorted to using our old electric fan.We have contacted the seller and are hoping they have a solution however, considering what we paid (even though second hand), we wouldn’t advise spending money on the unit. Not worth the extra time and effort. Either way this is going to the skip.

A decent fan, don’t expect air con levels of cooling
Bought this just over a month ago in preparation for a possible hot summer and I wanted something more than a bog standard fan but without spending a fortune on AC. This turned out to be a reasonable half way house.I first tried it out on a couple of warm nights, the fan is powerful and not as noisy as my old one, and I loved the remote control function. The addition of water and ice/ice packs makes a subtle difference that I didn’t immediately notice but after an hour or so I did feel cooler. As others have noted, removing the drawer to fill it with water is fiddly and detaching the pump is not immediately straightforward. I did have to study the instructions (one diagram!) and have a few practice goes before trying it with water in. More detailed instructions would help with this. But once I figured it out it was quite straightforward. The real test for the unit came with the heat wave earlier this week. All I can say is, it did it’s best! The addition of water meant that it wasn’t just blowing around hot air like a traditional fan but it wasn’t cold air either. I’ve definitely had worse nights but it was still uncomfortable.Overall, better than a regular fan and I am pleased with my purchase - it’s a reasonable halfway house between a standard fan and an AC. If you are thinking of buying one set your expectations appropriately and you’ll be fine.
