I have macular degeneration so I need to have lots of light in my life. This wonderful device is easy to use. It gives me plenty of lights so I can read printed information. I can increase the size of the letters and numbers so they're more visible to me. The device is small enough to hold in your hand and to take with you whenever you have to go out into the world. Wonderful device.

Has clear 5x Lens. Takes 3 AAA Batteries. No problems at all. Carry in pocket aok. Had 2 of these already and justbought 2 more. Very handy.

I carry this in my pocket everywhere I go. I don't understand why everything is in such small print - even when the lawyers aren't involved. If they want you to read something, you would think they would print in a legible type size. BUT NO! This is the solution. I pull this out at least once a week as I have for at least a year to read something from a shelf while shopping. You can't trust anyone to shelve the right product with the right pricing shelf tag anymore - too much work I guess. And those sneaky ingredient lists and warnings OMG!The little light is handy too for this purpose, and the sliding cover protects the lens and turns the light off. It's a fine little tool. I give it only four stars because I have had to add a little strap to keep the cover closed when not in use. You don't want it to slide open and turn on the light in your pocket - and drain the battery doing no good. They could have done some stop element to keep it closed until you want it to open and turned on. I even have a little pouch to carry it, because yes - I am that type of person - but you want to put a rubber band or hair band around it to keep it closed. Other than that - it works well as a magnifier for the fine print or small feature you are looking for.I like it - and even more so - I use it all the time. I have other typical portable magnifiers but this is the one that lives in my pocket even if it's bigger - maybe it's the light that has earned its place. You could also use it when removing a splinter and the light would be helpful then. If you need one - consider this little unit.

I bought a few of these. I don't have the greatest sight to begin with and with such small print on so many things, these come in handy. Having the light is a huge (no pun intended) advantage. These use 3 AAA batteries which do last quite a while, but I'd still recommend getting rechargeable batteries if you use it a lot. It's small enough to fit in your pocket or travel bag to take wherever you may need it. The sliding sleeve is great because it protects the glass when you're not using it.

I first received one of these magnifiers as a business comp at a conference. It didn't have the Carson logo and I used it regularly foe everyday needs/ Now with my vision impaired I find I need it more often and decided to try to find it on line. A quick Amazon search turned up the identical magnifier and I bought a bunch; one for each room, the car and my pocket. They are just as sturdy and the lens is just as crystal clear as my original which is more than 10 years old and still going strong. I highly recommend this product. It does the job intended. has a bright LED and is protected by the sliding case ensuring long life. A bargain at this price.

This is a nice, well-made, little magnifier. However, it is not good for reading because the field of vision is too small. My thumb nail fills the whole lens. I would be happier with a lower magnification or a bigger lens so I could see more at once.It is very important to get a magnifier with AAA batteries and not hard-to-get coin batteries.

I love this magnifier! Being legally blind I need assistance when reading things. This fits perfectly in my purse so when we go to a restaurant, I can easily read their menu because of the cute little light. The light doesn't always have to be on either! When you pull the magnifier straight out the light pops on or you can pull it out a little bit to reveal the magnifier and have no light.
